Rickie Lambert... He plays for Liverpool don't you know?
The9 replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
You basically just said it was irrelevant that there were people singing for both Lambert and Saints, you can't get why that might mean you're not bothered by it? -
Made a great stop from the shot that veered like anything just before half time, bit disappointed he didn't get near Sterling's goal but it was a good finish, wasn't going to get close to the winner no matter what he did. Absolutely no problems with his "moving ball" or dead ball kicking or decision-making on either foot whatsoever, good judgement on the shot which went narrowly wide where he pulled his hands away, and so far looks like a very good signing. More interested in finding out where Boruc was, Cropper was warming up with Davis and Forster.

Lambert didn't exactly come over, but applauded the Saints fans whilst facing us and walking off at the side of the group of players leaving the pitch nearest us, and was applauded into the tunnel (along with a few Saints players so it was difficult to know if everyone was actually applauding him). Lovren was as far away as he could have been, and once Lambert had disappeared people started booing him. Worth bearing in mind that their positions on the pitch would have put them nearer and further from the Saints fans anyway though, no-one on the Liverpool team took any great amount of action to veer from their natural path.

Why be critical if you're fine with it? -

Was delighted to see him in the starting line up (as it pretty much proved he'd been training the whole time and was committed) and can't be critical of his overall performance which was extremely professional. After a summer of having my eyes opened about footballers' professionalism and loyalty, I was as impressed with him playing the way he did yesterday as I was unimpressed with his tweet.

There were plenty of people doing both. -

I had no problem with showing Lambert appreciation - there weren't THAT many songs (though the 5 blokes behind me singing "Back For Good" at him was pretty funny) and it also served as a nice contrast with the treatment Lovren was getting. I don't think many Saints fans will be following him around the country, and none of us were actively willing him to score against us, though there was a feeling of impending doom about it. A brief chant of "they'll never love you like us" was amusing too. One thing's for sure, having been to the match and watched it on tv when I got in, Sky had the mics turned down on the Saints fans in places. The ball even hit the boom in front of us on about 20 minutes, and on the coverage it was a dull, quiet thud, not the loud explosion of mic-tumbling activity you usually get. Liverpool's support yesterday was even more pathetic than 2 years ago when I last went. Literally only sang YNWA before kick off, one minute from the end, and immediately after their goals. They had one guy in the block next to me chucked out for drinking beer in the stand - he had a Lovren shirt on, so that was popular. Another guy who was singing on his own got the appropriate response (but fair play to him, he kept going and made the other 5000 in that bit of the ground look bad even after the "on your own" chant). Reliably informed from a mate that Fox Sports in Australia did a big build up to You'll Never Walk Alone and when OWTSGMI was drowning it out they switched the sound balance - whilst a Spurs fan I know in the US said we were booming out all match long on the NBC coverage over there. -

Veho is the club sponsor and shirt sponsor, the others are just sponsors.
-
Superb little video, a few non-crappy phrases we could turn into unique chants too.
-
I would assume that there's no crossover in the product ranges (i.e. Veho don't make satnavs), and even if there was, it's just a form of advertising, free money for the club.

To get 250,000 seats onto that site the last 100,000 seats will need binoculars and harnesses to stop people falling half a mile directly out of their seats onto the pitch due to the steep sightlines...

Sky Sports - Musicians predictions for the season ahead.
The9 replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Lounge
I like the way that the media seems to take about a month to react to the implications of things. We still had people saying we'd be 8th the week after we'd sold Chambers, but a month later we've signed or loaned 7 players and we're relegation prospects. Just makes me laugh. -
If Long manages to do this at 1'50" of the video below, he'll be very popular indeed. [video=youtube;-1eF9eCsM6qc] in case it isn't working... Also supports my point about Ormerod being a good finisher when he got the chance.
-
Ormerod was an excellent finisher in the lower leagues, his role at Saints meant he didn't have anything like as many opportunities.
-
How about that time he smashed his teeth out conceding a corner in front of the Northam and carried on to head it away?
-
Ormerod was a great servant for Saints and perfectly suited our style - he was also a great finisher at a lower level. That's underselling Long's ability a little though.
-
I remember the panic well when we realised he wouldn't be playing against Sheffield United in the last match.
-
That's because he didn't, for Saints. Though thanks to last weekend's 2 goals for Oldham, he is currently the joint top scorer in L1 this season.
-
Did anyone remember Billy Sharp actually played for Sheffield United against us in that last match of the season when we stayed up in the Championship? Weird fact.
