  1. As noted in post 48 above from February.
  2. I like that, "EVERY GOAL MATTERS" - except the one pictured, as we were already 3-0 up with half an hour left and cruising to promotion against a team of kids.
  3. You mean the bloke I posted a pic of 2 pages back ? What do you reckon ?
  4. Weirdly the best recap I've seen so far was on a Pakistani website. Succinct, mostly accurate and linked to all the transfers in and out.
  5. Can you name our current youth team centre backs ?
  6. No, but I also wouldn't assume we're going to be able to sign the ones we're after and get rid of players who could provide cover for, say, the League Cup, so we don't have to risk the Prem starters.
  7. A Mike Bassett line which was a backlash against Hoddle's wing backs, so already beyond defunct even 10 years ago.
  8. I'm pretty sure a warm body in central defence is still better than a massive gaping nothing, so I don't get your logic at all. Also, the Millwall stuff might be lazy journalism, but the Charlton one could still be a new link.
  9. It is bloody weird. I'm still not exactly sure that there's not some in Markus' legacy that is responsible for this in some way - for access to the cash. For a while in 2011 I wondered the same, but Cork seemed to put paid to that. We haven't signed anyone to show a similar "step up" this time. Then again, Adkins' history has always been about being successful with under 27s and maybe it's at his insistence.
  10. Don't we ? So despite splashing the cash in L1 and Championship to buy players from the leagues above, when it gets to the Prem we're suddenly strapped for cash ? We only seem to be skint when it suits us, yet when there's someone we want in particular categories we're able to outbid people and pay more wages, etc. We have a cash windfall coming no matter where we finish this season, so why are we suddenly unable to compete for even the kind of mid-table, experienced players who can get us to mid-table and help bring the inexperienced kids through ? It can only be desire on the part of the purse-string holder. But it's missing out the vital stage of staying up before we could push on.
  11. Strange, I thought the one on Saints was almost done in passing, flagged up some weird key matches and wasn't necessarily that accurate about our players and their abilities. They can't spell Guly or Clyne's names, and "If Lambert and Adkins are unable to successfully transition to the EPL, the Saints' return to the top flight will be brief" is a massive oversimplification. Maybe Adkins, but I don't think Lambert's form will be a factor at all, we have alternatives now.
  12. We showed some pretty decent shapes against West Brom (reserves) though, De Ridder's best game for us, Richardson powering up and down the line and getting telling passes into the box - a notable improvement in performance and fitness on the season before - so you'd hope we'd show a similar improvement this pre-season. Ward-Prowse and maybe Puncheon aside no-one seems to have stood out - plus there's the concern that some players may have hit their peak and can't step up.
  13. Lundekvam and Killer were a fine pair when fit, it was Svensson's injury, the signing of Davenport and using Jakobsson anywhere other than defensive midfield that did for us. So the lesson would be "make sure you have 2 decent CBs to start with" and then "make sure you have at least one decent CB as cover". If we use Cork or Fox there for more than 10 minutes we'll be screwed.
  14. Why imagine ?
  15. Funny that, I'm reading Theo Walcott's book at the mo, and he talks excessively about the Arsenal Way. Can't help but think he's seen both sides of it.
  16. Probably best not do a tv interview in that case then though.
  17. Thanks for clarifying. You've mixed two transfer windows there though, Cisse was a mercenary-emergency type signing, Hoilett and Park two "established Prem club stepping up" signings. I'm not sure why we're not in for the latter two players either.
  18. This is the second time this exact question has been asked. No priority for ST holders over everyone else for home sales, priority dependent on loyalty points for away games. We don't have a membership scheme, ST holders and "on the database" only. We'll find out when the Arsenal tickets are on sale when they are about to put them on sale. Hope you've got 45 loyalty points, or you'll have to wait for them to go into the ST holder / 2 games attended pile though.
  19. Possibly, I didn't realise the big target man's knock-down was such a prized asset in the Premier League over skilful footwork and beating players though. Mind you I wish Lambert would teach Lallana how to hit a ball.
  20. Yeah, and that's fair enough if that's the route they want to go - but didn't you just have a go at people for saying "QPR showed how not to do it" three posts ago ?
  21. Let's hope we've got them clinched BEFORE we let people go out - I don't recall us signing anyone to replace Martin yet, never mind Seaborne !
  22. 5 clubs in under 4 seasons since the start of 2009 ? I'm pretty sure he didn't go to Sunderland for the weather either.
  23. Yeah, it's the best team since we missed out on the Championship playoffs, that's for sure. It might even be better than one or two of the struggling sides from the late 90s, we shall see. But I think player for player, our best XI from the Prem relegation season is better than our best XI at the moment. The problem in the relegation season being that we hardly ever got to pick the best XI, and had a manager who didn't give a crap.
  24. Why do you always say it's "the same people" ? It's never the same people, it's always different people at different times. Also, the point about QPR is not about quantity, it's about both quality and the type of player they bought - i.e. short termist mercenaries like Cisse, thugs like Barton.
  25. If he hadn't been passing to Lambert for so many assists maybe he would have done !
