Plan E may as well be play 14 players, we can't get Forecast back from a season-long loan even if we wanted to, which is why we sent him out on one.
-
I'll be amazed if Balotelli's "conjunctivitis" isn't fine by Sunday as well.
-
I know nothing about him, but he's international for a successful nation, he plays in a position we need to improve and he's in a country where we have contacts. So from that I'd conclude it's not impossible, and he'd be an awesome signing. Oh and he's from Fray Bentos, which is tremendous news for 1980s pie-lovers.

Squad numbers have to be confirmed by the start of the season, squads have to be submitted by Sep 1. So we will have to confirm numbers for all current players by Saturday. In addition, there's a Prem rule that the numbers have to be consecutive unless explicitly authorised by the Premier League... though it doesn't seem to have stopped Nicklas Bendtner from having 52.

I don't think much of the Bleacher Report one either.

Vote me and I'll guarantee an alpine_saint banning within a week.

They've also added Simon Eastwood to the Squad Page, so now there are 3 of them : http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/squad/first-team.aspx

I think Capital One will be aware that no-one gives a toss about the first round, and will not give it a second thought come their high-profile Wembley showpiece. The second point is just gibberish - teams are not of equal strength throughout the season - if they had to be, maybe we should appeal about Lambert's red card at Brighton and having to play without our leading scorer for 30 minutes - those points cost us the title... but of course we wouldn't, because it WOULD BE COMPLETELY PREPOSTEROUS. They ought to have a look at Newport County's last 3 months in the Football League if they want an idea of how uncompetitive you can get - a team of YTS kids getting thrashed by 4 goals in basically every match. But if that's the only team you can put out due to your own financial mismanagement, then that's the only team you can put out. English Division 4 Sa 26Mar 1988 Wrexham 4 - 1 Newport Co Newport Co 1 - 2 Carlisle Cardiff 4 - 0 Newport Co Newport Co 0 - 4 Peterborough Newport Co 0 - 4 Scarborough Torquay 6 - 1 Newport Co Bolton 6 - 0 Newport Co Newport Co 1 - 3 Wolves (bear in mind they were 10 pts clear at the top, this was like a win) Newport Co 0 - 3 Tranmere Darlington 0 - 2 Newport Co - a miracle. Newport Co 0 - 1 Rochdale This might be what we have to look forward to for Portsmouth, Saints fans

Pleased to note the BBC have now updated their preview to state : "Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton will be forced to pick from youth and development squad players. Any trialists that have featured for Pompey during pre-season are not allowed to feature, as the club are currently unable to sign new players".

I think you forget how many Prem clubs field their reserves in cups.

This HAS to happen.

It was 19th with Reading below us.

So you're saying "back to realiy for Saints, as it looks all over by Christmas" is a legitimate contribution then ? I'd be embarrassed to post something of that standard on Facebook. The spelling mistakes show how little they actually know about the players.
-
Needs to be more careful with where his dog points his laserbeams I reckon.
-
My point is that if you ship Seaborne out without a replacement your backups that you want to be fielding in competitive fixtures are Jack Stephens (who as far as I'm aware wasn't a CB until pre-season) and some other kid you can't name. If Exeter fans were miffed, that would be because we took one of their better players. Also, we can't recall Martin, he's on a season long loan.
-
And Ashley Westwood, player-coach, non-Portsmouth player, presumably on a non-contract playing basis. It appears they might be able to "sign" non-contract players somehow, which is just a tad dubious as signing anyone under embargo just isn't allowed. I would lol heartily if they got fined / points deducted for fielding an ineligible player/players.

Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?

Though someone did just imply it... -
I just read it - here are some of the positive comments : Southampton will be an exciting addition to the Premier League, and expect them to enjoy the same 'bounce' which Swansea and Norwich thrived on last season. The Saints have a side full of talented players, and have snapped up some of the best young talent from the Championship in Jay Rodriguez and Nathaniel Clyne. Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert both have big reputations, and expect them to show just why over the months ahead. After 3 seasons of winning games Saints know no different and that continued confidence will carry them to safety with a good start this season. Rickie Lambert will find the net but the performances of Jack Cork, Kelvin Davis and especially Adam Lallana will be the reason they stay up. And some of the critical : 20th; Back to reality for Saints, as it looks all over by Christmas. The problem for the Saints is that consecutive promotions from League one are often aided by a crest of wave and the momentum of successful seasons. Yet, the ascent up the tiers often means a lack of squad development over an extended period of time and Southampton will find themselves with several League One standard players still at the club. Rickie Lambert, Championship Player of the Year for 2011 will need to get amongst the goals if the Saints are to have any chance of staying up. If Lambert, who has won Southampton’s Fans Player of the Season two times in three leaves is tempted away from St. Mary’s then don’t expect to see them in the Premier League next season Jay Rodriguez and Nathaniel Clyne both have big reputations, but are unproven in the Premier League, and the lack of top flight experience means they won't be gaining much beyond this season. Straight back down for the Saints. Exciting team but looking the required quality to excel at the biggest stage. Even though, it is a bold prediction to rank Southampton 20th, I feel that they are the weakest team in the league would surely be demoted back to Division 1 in the next ten months. The Premier League may have come a bit to early for this team. Nigel Atkins and his staff deserve a huge pat on the back. They should be last even though Southampton over the years has been known to be a centre for nurturing young talent. ----------------- TBH there's a lot of crap on both sides, the article overall smacks of know-nothings who can't even spell in some cases spouting utter guff.
-
To be fair he only ever used to cut inside and scuff a bending shot into the inside netting, they were never that "impressive". Fair comment about lack of pace through the middle, assuming you mean Lambert. Sharp, Lee, De Ridder, Rodriguez are all fast enough to get onto a through ball, though we don't generally play them - and that criticism is fair enough.
-
Yes, but preseason matches aren't JUST about that.

I've never seen anyone claim we need quicker central midfielders on here. Wide midfielders, strikers and centre backs, yeah. -
What "4-3-3 bandwagon" is this anyway ? Is everyone playing it during the close season then ? If there's a bandwagon to be getting on, it's 4-6-0. Though I suppose Spain do claim it's 4-3-3...

Or staying exactly where he is.

Give it a week and you might have an idea why people think Prem players should be quick.
