  1. It was a superb performance. We completely controlled the game and only looked threatened on about 3 occasions over the 90 minutes. It was 30 degrees in the stadium and aside from a few dodgy touches everyone did their jobs perfectly. No one was over committing and we rarely sent enough forward to trouble to goal but the entire point was to kill the game and not concede, which we did brilliantly (except immediately before half time when the not-putting-the-ball-out shenanigans got the crowd back into it for a couple of minutes).
  2. I don't have to, and FWIW everyone had a fantastic time. The game was exactly what I was expecting, and I was very impressed with us.
  3. He's worn it in two matches that I've noticed, both in the past couple of weeks. Hardly "always".
  4. On the contrary, we just had to not concede. From the (bad) view I had of it from the other end, it looked like he was deceived by the amount of curve on JWP's cross, must be a sod to read at that pace.
  5. We do now. Puel hoiking Hesketh was a very smart decision, we was getting overpowered every time. Gave us Redmond through the middle and Tadić on to deliver balls into the area.
  6. Yes thanks.
  7. They didn't stamp anything, they now print you a blue piece of paper with a QR code on it which gets you through the gate. Hello from the M1 by the way, arrived back in Luton via Geneva an hour ago, on the way to Leicester (though going to Wolves v Norwich tomorrow for the hell of it). Absolutely fantastic time, great beaches, bars, travel, locals, ridiculous bus trip including service station in the "desert", nearly got a match worn shirt (some kid got two) and then to top it off, selfies with half the squad at the airport (where they didn't ask me ANY weird security questions at any point). Anyway, 18 days til we fly to Milano for Internazionale.
  8. Offer expired, seeing as the tickets are now in my wallet in Israel...
  9. Lets put it this way, I've seen Newport (who are bottom by 3 points and just lost at home to the bottom but one side on the weekend) once this season, when they played pretty well in losing 2-0 to a decidedly average Doncaster team who were frankly not two goals better. Newport have however won only once this season, but look no worse than anyone else give or take a few 90+ minute losing goals. Plymouth aside, there's nothing between any of them (and of course Newport will win at Fratton around Easter next year just like they do every sesson).
  10. Can't argue with that, but over the past 3-4 years Yoshida is still ahead by however many games he's played minus 3.

I saw Pulis play for the Development squad (in the same game as Gasmi), he was in the defensive midfield position, and all he did all match was operate in an arc in front of the CBs tracking from side to side as the play went all around him. He was literally a warm body out there and seemed to have no tangible impact on the game at all. I think I may also have seen him at right back for a bit late on in the game when Jamie Hatch went off, but may be misremembering. Whatever happened I've mentioned it at least twice before on here, along with the fact that I played for the same team in the same timeframe as his uncle Ray in Newport, but we were never on the pitch together.

I think Pearce may have been an unused sub for a few other games, he was around for a month or two even though he only actually played once. Now Alan Bennett, there was a player who had way more appearances than he should have got. He should be on this list but escapes on the technicality of actually playing a fair bit, that one time Alpine was actually right. We forgot to sign any centre backs and started with him and Chris Makin there before getting Darren Powell in.

FWIW I'm fairly sure Sean St Ledger was never a Saints player - did you mean Jason St Juste?

Allaedine Yahia is now 35 and has played his last 11 years in Ligue 1 in France, hardly anonymous. Anthony Pulis and Tommy Forecast are always the end game of this. Not good enough for our worst side in 50 years. A mish-mash of minimal appearances and never played but often talked abouts, Lee Powell, Jacinto Ela Eyene, Leandre Griffit, Marco Almeida, Shayne Bradley, Yoann Folly, Jake Thomson, Richard Wright, Adrian Caceres, Garry Monk, Andrei Pereplyotkins, Vincent Pericard, Nicholas Bignall and the pivotal but brief Chris Lucketti and Kevin Miller.

  17. An entire post about Allardyce being on the take when there wasn't any evidence from this week's revelations of anything of the sort.
  18. Can't disagree with the first bit, but the FA attempting to take the moral high ground after selling out the Football League clubs, and their overarching role to protect their member clubs rather than just the rich or popular ones, with the FA blueprint and Premier League in the 90s absolutely ruins any attempt they have at the moral high ground. They could have stopped all the moneygrabbing at source, they chose not to.
  19. How to get around third party ownership. Buy the player outright. That is the only way.
  20. Completely forgivable imo. Still nothing he should have been sacked for, the FA just got its ar5e in its hands because he said they were all about money.
  21. Now THAT is a conflict of interest, and should be sorted by the FA's rules, just like Allardyce's contract will have clearly stated whether he was allowed outside business interests - which clearly he was. Just to clarify, is every person in the public eye meant to self-censor every conversation they have in case they're being secretly filmed then? Even if what they say is basically the truth?
  22. It doesn't bother me one bit, no, and nor does it have any relevance to how much I spend watching football (which by the way has increased due to Saints' success and nothing else).
  23. Except there isn't.
  24. And nobody on a football forum cares, because this is a football forum, to discuss football.
  25. Fcking Nike trying to sell third kits is why, see also Man City in orange/purple and (from Puma) Arsenal at home in yellow. I was sure we'd be in black until that debacle, now not so sure...
