  1. Yes. and you're probably wrong, given that the likes of Bolton were already doing a lot of this stuff before Woodward even left the England Rugby set-up.
  2. And who's going to get to any loose passes quickest ? The fast player or the slow one ? Sheesh. You still have to have the quickness to get into the right positions before the people around you. For some players that quickness can be made up for by speed of thought, but if everything else is equal, pacy players are better than slow ones. Fast players can also compensate for any positional errors more quickly as well. The existence of offside and the ability of defences to play a high line and press the ball in an enclosed area murders any team which is completely devoid of pace, because all you do as a defence is wait for the through ball and outpace the opposition to the ball, or catch them in possession as they fail to get away from you. You can pass and pass and pass all day, but if you don't have someone with pace to get in behind, you're either hoping the defence drops deep so you can play football in front of them and work tight openings which can't be stopped in time, or you're shooting from 30 yards all the time. As I said, you need pace AND ability for the vast majority of positions nowadays, the exception probably being central midfield, where everything is tight and the ability to find a tiny amount of space to work a pass is still possible at walking pace. The Mourinho comment is pushing it when both formations had been in use for years in England in various hybrid defensive 4-3-3 or attacking 4-5-1s, not least of which was used by the Dutch getting to World Cup Finals in the 70s and Ajax winning the European Cup in the 90s.

Fair enough, other than that it looks great. I like the subtle inside St Mary's pic on the back. How nice is "Modern English Stadium" as well ? If only they could move the scoreboard !

Might be better with this season's kit.

Anyone else been getting their PC crashing due to the 3D modelling in Creation Centre online ? Happens on both my laptop and my father-in-law's PC running the Unity player. I've seen some stuff about there being a problem with multiple windows, and some stuff about anti-virus causing it, but none of it solves the problem I'm having. So basically I can't use the kit editor online, can't use the head modelling, rrrrrrrrrrrubbish.
  6. Who was the Danish international who looked like he had 3 kneecaps in one of the European Championship matches in the early 90s ? Bleuuugh. Busst was still the worst though, washing blood off the pitch with a bucket ? Yuk. I broke a keeper's hand with a shot once (he was only about a yard away from me at the time) and I've broken my nose in matches 6 times (gets a bit tedious after a while), but the worst injury I've seen in person was a leg break in a match for Southampton Uni at Reading Uni, happened about 5 yards from me and I heard it crack, couldn't really see anything and I got to come on as sub as a result... every cloud...
  7. I didn't even know he'd left Everton, wondered where he'd gone.
  8. With you on all of that.
  9. It doesn't go pink, it just becomes a little more transparent as the red stripes below show through. This happens even if you always wash it below 40 degrees anyway. As for Umbro being aware, I'm sure they know exactly what the problems would be with Saints choosing to graft a cheap sticker onto the front of the shirt ! One of my mates' missus washed his shirt in with a new cheap blue t-shirt last week and after the inevitable Skate-esque disaster ensued, 6 Vanish washes later it was back to white from the unpleasant blue it had gone - and the aap3 logo was still fine too.
  10. The PA is rubbish everyhere except in the toilets, where it is excellent. So any remodel of the ground should therefore be based on Fratton Park.
  11. The reason no-one sings it is because it's crap, and we already have at least two for him already (arguably three with the Reuben Agboola song).
  12. They've only been doing it since they've been at the Emirates.
  13. That's true, pretty much the only place you can hear the PA in the Northam is in the toilets.
  14. Arsenal have been doing that for about 3 years now, if not longer. Along with a lot of the Bundesliga.
  15. Cardiff and football just don't go - the same tannoy announcer Cardiff have at their ground is used for Wales matches, which are a cacophony of plastic horns, fireworks, high-tempo dance music and the announcer desperately trying to get people into it because (from back when they got 73,000 crowds and it cost £10 to get in) they patently just don't give a crap. They've been doing that since about 2003 as well.
  16. I think Bolton had music after goals before Blackburn - they also had people running up and down the touchline waving flags when it happened. Circa 2001/2-ish when they'd just got up into the Prem via the Play-offs. I think the first time I heard it was when we lost to them late on in the League Cup ? Blur's Song 2 is literally my favourite single ever, it's entirely consistent with the mood when it's played, and I still don't want to hear it when we score.
  17. I absolutely despise it. It is the only subject I have ever actually written a letter of complaint to anyone about. Unfortunately for me, my email to David Luker in 2008 was sent approximately 12 hours before Saints went into Admin. The best part of course, is that I never, ever have to hear it at St Mary's, because the roar of the crowd is much louder and longer than the noise where my seat is.
  18. Surely you mean so we could finish above 17th in this season's Championship?

I disagree with so much of this post it's unreal. Shall we have a little scout around the teenagers from 2000ish with Champions League experience to see which of them is utter gash 10 years later, for instance? Or watch Saints away at Leyton Orient, when Butterfield was indeed "not very good at all"? Richardson is doing well at the moment, but there's no basis for assuming that's because he was a good teenager - he was relatively cack even last season for Saints, so how does that correlate to his past "successes"?
  20. That was the one bit they did get right, they were being sarcastic about their failure to sign young English players despite being promised them and said he'd be what they ended up with. Of course even that ignores that we're unlikely to sell...

I wrote it. Now does anyone want this elephant box? It's got a window, and Stereophonics told me it can also be used for flying giraffes.

I know for a fact you didn't, as you were ripping the p155 out of me on here for noting Richardson's rippling muscles and slimmer build when I mentioned it.
  23. Is this somehow related to FIFA12 editing?
  24. With the exception of the bloke who doesn't like Brighton I'd say they are pretty ill-informed.
  25. As linesman I have to hold my hands up and say I maybe should have flagged for the ball being out of play just before their third... But I was... er... unsighted...
