  1. To answer the shirt back question, again. I have a new question, who do you think was responsible for the decision to have Fonte turn the ball around to show the sponsor's logo even though he's facing the wrong way ?
  2. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  3. Yes he did, 4-0 second leg to Spurs with a Crouch hat-trick (YB played mostly with 10 men though) : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8939577.stm. First leg is here, makes for better reading : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8918259.stm You'll all be pleased to know Jemal gets a mention for "being offside" for one of the Young Boys goals, that might reprise a classic foreign import song. IIRC there was a lot of palaver about YB having a plastic pitch, can't see that being too much of an issue though, he must have to play on grass plenty too.
  4. Still do, the new stadium is the Stade de Suisse, Wa.nkdorf. They lost that mental Champions' League qualifier against Spurs last season, 3-0 up in the first half of the first leg but eventually lost on aggregate. I wonder if he played ?
  5. Some players are easier to persuade than others depending on our contacts - We've got Swiss and Tunisian contacts at the club, so I should think Jaidi's been integral in flagging him up as a possible long-term replacement and Cortese's Swiss connections help us get the player talking to us. In this situation the manager has Jaidi's career and performances as a benchmark and it probably wouldn't be a difficult sell. He wasn't likely to turn down a Serie B promotion winner in Guly last season either !
  6. Cheers, worth knowing.
  7. Crystal Palace 1990 FA Cup Final kit... or was it the replay? Edit : It was the replay, and they're selling one at Christie's !
  8. Based on the info from stevek23 that would be the favourite. Though a few people have speculated the aap3 logo will be red.
  9. Yeah, on the original "Speculation" thread, someone can go and multiquote the URLs if they like... ..though I don't think I've done any yellow/black ones because that info came out after I'd done the yellow/blue mockups.
  10. Don't forget that the ticket books are in no way linked to the "front page" ticket anyway, so they could be switched around at will if people had spare ticket books. It's an incredibly inefficient system for preventing fraud - as I proved last season when I used my free U-8 ticket for 21 of the 23 matches whilst carrying my actual ST in my back pocket just as a little experiment. And of course no one could ever prove otherwise, as all you have to do is swap the front tickets around and the U-8 book is now the full adult one. There's also nothing on the ST match voucher itself which identifies it back to the owner once it's been used, no barcode, no name or seat number on it, etc. In fact I'm not sure the club even counts them, I'd heard they're using the "STs sold in August" number plus the number of non-ST match ticket stubs, and that's common practice - though I don't actually know this is the case.
  11. But are they "ripped out" ticket books ? Or are they "pre-printed" 1-8 books and pre-printed 9-23 ones ? Would probably cost more to do that so I'm guessing ripped out, but no-one's actually said that.
  12. Sounds like there's no correlation to me. Pretty sure my "paid in full" ST has 1-23, some clearly don't have and they've sent the wrong ones out, but have we actually had an instalment payer get 1-23 yet ?
  13. Striped, there's a pic on page 1 or 2 of this thread. White panel at the top of the back though.
  14. Was that "hype" ? I wouldn't even go that far. Saints practically forgot it existed.
  15. Basically, if you go to the Umbro Teamwear website and consider each of those kits in a yellow and blue or yellow and black you're probably going to nail it.
  16. No you haven't, you've just nicked that exact image from the UI Forum ! I've heard on here that it's yellow and black, and based on the yellow in the home kit I'm pretty certain that it'll be yellow/black and red so that all the home and away kit is held together with 4 common colours. There's no other reason for the shorts for the home kit being plain black with a yellow logo other than to go with a yellow away shirt with black on it. A few people also seem to think the aap3 logo on the away kit will be in their corporate colours of dark red, which also tallies with this colour scheme. Which of the bog standard Umbro away templates we get I'm not sure, but I think it'll be either the Cosmos (yellow with black shoulders), the Pinnacle (see the all yellow mock up above, which I did but don't like, and with red logos), or just maybe a yellow/black sash. Whichever it is, I'm going to be at the Memorial Cup, will make sure I'm in the Itchen near the tunnel, and I'll get some pics straight onto Facebook at 6:55pm so someone on my Friends List can upload them to here. I can't see it being all yellow either, and the home kit has black shorts, so red shorts maybe ?
  17. Oh, forgot to mention... "whom".
  18. These are the leather adizero F50s Though his were probably the synthetic Prime ones, which have more orange around the bottom Either way, they should come with a target to stick on your back and a sign saying "I have no taste or fashion sense".
  19. Because he's the only person left that some people think doesn't deserve to be in the squad, and some people HAVE to be picking on someone.
  20. I'd say it means the square root of not much tbh, squad numbers from about 25 upwards are just where the kids get dumped if they get a number at all, and the process seems pretty arbitrary. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was allocated 37 for the Exeter match right at the end of 2009/10 and he didn't have a number until that point all season, whilst Pulis had 21 for all of that season and didn't get near the team. I also remember on Niemi tribute day in Charlton back in 2004 that we had an injury crisis and suddenly added about 10 of the youth squad to the list of those with squad numbers for the sake of the final two matches. They can add people at will, so not being on the list isn't a problem for a youth player. It is slightly more of a problem for Puncheon and Mills.
  21. If the hot dog suppliers can inform us of who is likely to be playing or not, go ahead. I'm pretty sure that won't inform the Puncheon and Mills situation.
  22. Yeah, but that's not a system anyone else has ever used and it doesn't make a great deal of sense. Traditional keeper squad numbers (in England) derived from 22-man squads at major tournaments prior to the 1990s and are 1, 13 and 22 - more recently 12 and 23 have been used to reflect the readiness of foreign players to adopt 13 and the expansion of tournament squads to include a compulsory 23rd player, a third goalkeeper. Last season's use of 1, 23 and 24 was pretty wacky too. Being the number-and-kit keen person I am, I went through the 2010 World Cup squads making a note of the allocation of goalkeeper numbers. It was to do with numbering up two full sets of team kit I had for last season. The interesting thing is that the fact I actually did that is way more interesting than any of the results. (But if you want to know, 1 is set by the rules, 12 was the next most popular, and 18 was more used than 23, especially by South Americans - assuming I'm not misremembering).
  23. Their anniversary kit in 1999 was something to behold too, I've still got one of those - ruddy great ugly lion on the front.
  24. I think it's coincidence that they're alphabetical, as the left back's number ends in 3 and the CB's number ends in 5, plus Connolly's number is as it was last season. However, that would explain the bizarre number swap by Bart and Holmes, though Bart's (2)1 relates to his position too, that just leaves Holmes as an anomaly. Though "after 20" is a pretty unscientific starting point to begin with.
  25. They're all Tailored By now, and have been since the 2010/11 kits started coming out in early 2010, which predated the Nike takeover. But this is the first season when there haven't been some pre-Tailored By shirt designs around with that logo just slapped on them. The other thread not only has a list, but pictures of all Umbro teams. We were last to reveal for 2011/12, apart from Wales and Northern Ireland.
