  1. Sounds to me that straightforward single person ST orders get all three matches but multiple/group purchases have only got the tickets for Sparta. Though as my mate gets an ambulant ticket maybe they processes those separately, who knows?
  2. The least I can do is quote it so it becomes effectively two posts.
  3. I liked that the FIRST of those, from 8 years ago, says something like "I've been going on about this for years..."
  4. Cheers - good luck getting one.
  5. 6-12 aways then. It's not a massive surprise that after 160 on the first day we shifted only handfuls to the ridiculously small 15+, 13+ and 12+ cohorts. We should move a fair few today, I'm guessing at 50-100 as there will be a fair few who go to 6 or more aways but couldn't specifically get to Midtjylland. So I think there will be, say, about 270 gone by Monday morning when 2+ aways and then ST holders come into play, which will maybe see another hundred or so for each cohort.
  6. Comical overreaction, no-one on the entire thread has suggested either that Saints are picking players based on race, that there's any benefit to doing so, or that they should be doing so. Even Turkish was only paraphasing the Secret Footballer comments. A couple of comments pointing out that almost all world class sprinters are black are entirely factual, the other comments have been "I know someone who said..." or guarded comments that people of different geographical origin clearly have different propensity to particular physical attributes.
  7. Makes me laugh, there are players biitching about stuff all the time even when we're winning, you just don't get to hear about it because it makes them look bad. Couple of games without winning and suddenly there's "negativity"? I should bloody hope so! Let's wait and see how the next few months go shall we? I'd expect us to lose at Arsenal usually anyway, and we're clearly at least one player in a key role (or a change of plan) short of being at our best anyway, so it'll take an absolutely gutless humping for it to be any kind of issue.
  8. Something to do with bone density and twitch fibres, last time I paid any attention to it (though I'm wary this could be the phrenology of the 21st century). I'm still pretty sure Saints aren't targeting particular skin colours as opposed to physical and mental footballing capability, and all within the limitations of the recruitment geographical limitations. Developing "homegrown" players has significant competitive and financial benefits of course.
  9. I'm offsetting the money league with the trickledown of League 2 and laughing at the Skates' general incompetence at getting out of the League so far despite what should be a huge financial advantage. Oh, and of course taking advantage of European football to go to a few places I probably wouldn't have otherwise (Bucharest, Arnhem, Herning, Tel Aviv and Be'er Sheva so far).
  10. Skin pigmentation doesn't, but geographical evolution over millions of years in response to the local environment does. Obviously prior to very recent population migration due to long distance travel, skin colour was also heavily dependent on where someone originated. Nowadays sporting success has got more to do with lifestyle in developed countries and access to facilities in underdeveloped ones, but there's a reason most world-class sprinters are of west african ethnic origin and many distance runners are east african. There are other factors in play with many cricketers coming from certain areas of the commonwealth, of course.
  11. Hm, that's a different angle. 2 STs but one person - were they in the same envelope?
  12. The positioning of those competitions would explain the highly suspicious "Premier League 2" and "Premier League Cup" rebranding of the U21/U23 development league this season, not to mention the expansion into the EFL Checkatrade Trophy by Prem (and Championship) U23 teams - which supposedly was the idea of the EFL, themselves no stranger to a crappy rebrand.
  13. UEFA, FIFA and the clubs/national leagues are engaged in a bit of a war over international football - the horrendous friendly-replacing UEFA League of Nations which starts soon is UEFA's way to defend their international slots against club football... whether the interest in international football will sustain a not-too-simple rolling league concept with some Euros qualification as the prize after the initial interest remains to be seen, but they've got to be more interesting than literally pointless friendies overall.
  14. Thanks, "just under 200" is still looking like a good estimate for sales so far then (very few with 12+ and 13+ who weren't also Midtjylland goers for today) - just out of interest was today the first day you were eligible?
  15. I haven't ever mentioned it before, so there's one... Also, it won't happen, the world is too large to have anything other than regionalised competitions because the gaps between "global" fixtures leave a slot for others to fill the demand. I will say the Champions League is more of a draw than people might have expected in 1994, but there's still only fleeting rivalry between clubs from different nations year on year, it's too artificial a concept to fully buy into.
  16. I don't think I've ever see MLG state an opinion on anything. He just responds to points with logical critique without any indication whether he believes it or not.
  17. They have sent all three to a friend of mine. See a few posts above for the theory.
  18. Did you order your tickets with other people or just for you?
  19. I can't think of a single U-24 player that's run out their contract, gone abroad and come back to England better off. The closest example I can think is Colin Kazim-Richards, who was never a top flight English player, did well in Turkey, but hasn't come back as a top English player either. There are also a bunch of assumptions about everyone apart from the selling club people being better off from this "year out" scenario too which don't necessarily add up.
  20. The9

    Lawro

He and Garth Crooks are probably tipping Forest to win every game in the Championship as recent European Cup winners, tbh.
  21. Ah. Didn't recall him being ITK before either.
  22. Only the European sanctions seem to have any impact - they've weakened Inter nicely for the Europa League, for instance. They're missing four of their top recent signings due to UEFA FFP limits - the English version reflects the UEFA regulations but Incidentally I have recently re-read some of the regulations, and the tv money isn't considered part of club revenue in calculating Prem limits, so everyone getting a pile of cash doesn't seem to raise the ceiling for everyone as I'd previously thought - there was some stuff on Everton's Transfer Thread on their forum about it, if we're looking for an example of a club that thinks they're the next Man City but is having to operate within FFP restrictions.
  23. I've been doing a bit of Google map "Saving" of locations where Brazzer and/or Google have noted bars in Beer Sheva, suffice to say even working out what actually is a bar looks like a challenge in some places - I've only seen the word "BAR" on one building and, well, my Hebrew isn't great.
  24. Actually, with our second leg Tel Aviv return flight from Geneva to Luton only costing about £30, our flight back from Prague to Manchester pretty cheap and Manchester to Southampton only £30 as well, and people buying hotel rooms from loyalty points, it's probably not that much more expensive than getting a more popular flight to Southampton/London with petrol. The logistics of making sure people don't get stranded at either end when we might get a lift out but not back (eg Prague, where a mate is coming back to Gatwick but we're not) and that we find the cheapest and/or most convenient way to do things is the "interesting" bit. I can confirm it would be a LOT cheaper if the wife wasn't coming. I'll stay a lot of places she won't, at least I've finally persuaded her she doesn't need to book seats on EasyJet to sit next to me.
  25. We are in the process of planning options... already got the hotel next to the ground booked for the Saturday night in Leicester - contemplating whether the best option is to go home and out to Leicester from home or just not go home, that kind of stuff. Also, last year's trip to Leicester went via Yeovil v Newport, getting to Leicester at 9pm, downing double JDs to catch up, rather overdoing it, spending 3 hours trying to find somewhere to eat, barely sniffing the food, turning in for the night, and then violently hurling up into the hotel room loo whilst starkers, with our mate glad that the adjoining door was locked as he'd have had a beautiful view through the open bathroom door otherwise. I'm 43, ladies and gents.
