Yeah that's right, it's "pedantic" to point out a massive flaw in the stats being used.
-
Chicken and egg, that one. I'd say the poor results were due to lack of effort, but as Lallana's one of the players who always gives it his all you have to wonder if his presence would have raised the effort and improved us overall a bit, irrespective of his individual creativity. Motivation's a funny thing.
-
His point was that we played well without Lallana, my point was that we had now scored without him and the stats being used above were wrong, which is not the same thing.
-
Also, we just scored in a game without Lallana, so at least update the stats. And if we can score against Man United without him we can score against anyone...
-
That if we work hard we're the best team in this league by a bloody mile. And if we don't, some teams are going to beat us. Ah, actually I think we already knew that.
-
Oh yeah and post match I though Owen had turned into Kevin Keegan. Weird similarities in their speaking styles now...
-
Thirteen 50/50 decisions in a row went Man U's way before we got one. The ref was appalling, especially the sliding tackle decisions. As for Michael Owen, weird to see him being relegated to that deep-lying striker role that Ferguson killed Alan Smith's career with. They had three chances plus Owen's cross, and we only looked outclassed when we decided to rest 3 players and concede the win at 2-1 - whereas we did the same thing to then for 10 minutes at the start of the second half when everything was to play for. I think Owen CDAJFU but if we sign that useless turd Obertan I'd have a fit.

I can't wait for the ITV coverage of the Game.

Well that's a load of cack, Jose is "Joh-seh" (with or without an accent for some reason) and Fonte "Font" in Portuguese unless it has an accent on the e, in which case it's "Font-ehr". The (incorrect) pronunciation link above also has an accent on Fonte which our Fonte does not have and the accent on the e means that part of the name is stressed (as it is on the link). As he doesn't have an accent on Fonte, you don't pronounce the "e" at all. Mourinho is also "Joh-seh", just for the record. If he was Spanish he'd be "Ho-zay Fon-ter".
-
You're not wrong there, loads of other teams around us are playing each other anyway so there are loads of points which HAVE to be dropped by someone.
-
Moot (and I do mean "moot") point now, because as we know Peterborough just lost to Colchester.
-
Because he's cr^p and it's more likely than not that it was a flash in the pan, based on his career before St Mary's AND his time here. Just because he's scored goals for 5 months at this level doesn't mean he will at a different club and with different players around him.

My first time on this thread this season, anyone mentioned Shefki Kuqi yet ? Old and just released from Swansea ahead of schedule, but big and good in the air, and a Lambert replacement if ever there was one.
-
Fortunately for us they've just signed BWP.

And SO much more. I don't think there was much of an argument, 28_F

I've also just realised we've just missed out on the opportunity to get Nat Lofthouse in on a free. Bloody hell.

Well, it beats posting "we never get a mention in media coverage"... Is it Idiot Week on here or something ?

Apart from one of last season's top scorers in the Division. In addition to that, there's a goalkeeper with recent experience at the level above this, a utility player with Prem experience, two young players with sufficient League One experience to regularly start, never mind cover, at centre back, and two developing midfielders who give us options the opposition won't know about. It's not all about impact subs, sometimes it's about covering every eventuality.
-
Because he's been cack for over 10 years, perhaps ?

I've never torn ankle ligaments, but I've damaged the ankle ligaments in both legs, one of them twice - one time required crutches for a week and took about a month to heal but I kept trying to play on it and stopping it healing properly so it hung around for a few months in the end. I was 26 then, and it took a little bit longer than the other two times I knackered my ankles. Both those times I was in my early 20s and after a week of swelling I carried on playing with strapping, but that slowed recovery and as I kept playing and re-injuring it, I was carrying the injury for a good 6 months in one instance. All of them were football injuries, the worst caused by a keeper slide tackling my kicking leg just as I sidefooted the ball and planted my foot... FWIW I'm now 38 and merely rolled over on an ankle playing in early December and that's still giving me gip late on in games despite only playing once or twice a week now. Oh, and I didn't take any painkillers. That's for general anaesthetic stuff...

Look, unless we all want to go back to caves or stop treating the ill, we're going to get to critical mass at some point... -
Basically, anything anyone posts as a status about changing your settings due to a change in a Facebook policy is a load of cobblers. That particular message up there has been doing the rounds for about 18 months, and wasn't even accurate when they DID make a change to personal settings at that time. If you want to know, check here : http://www.facebook.com/help/?safety or here : http://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php Trouble is, people are idiots and just believe the worst or gossip from others, even though it's completely against FB's interests to leave security loops or have people scared of using their security settings properly. You agree to share information with FB ad infinitum whether you delete your account or not when you first sign up, and you're going to get automatically targeted adverts no matter what you try to turn off.

Lets just have a look to see how many points the leaders were on LAST season at this point : 1 Leeds United 25 17 6 2 30 57 2 Norwich City 26 16 6 4 31 54 3 Charlton Athletic 25 14 9 2 20 51 Makes Brighton's measly 49 from 25 games look feeble doesn't it ? And we're holding them up to be some model of consistency ? Norwich won the league despite having lost NINE matches last season. Their record, split into 5 match spells for ease of reading was LDLWW DLDDW WWLWW WDWWW DWWWW ( WWWWL WLWWW WDWLW DLWWW L Norwich's form after January shows them losing 5 times, drawing twice and never winning more than 4 on the bounce. They also had spells in which they went "LWL" "DWL" and "WDL" and they STILL won the league by NINE POINTS from being 3 behind. The difference between last season and this was there was a big gap between the top sides and the rest (Saints were 7 points off the playoffs despite being only 1 place short) - this season things are more even, so a side who puts in the sort of form we've been in over the last 2 months should find themselves puling clear of the pack nicely, even if Brighton also keep up their good run.
