For a good ball player he certainly has a penchant for leaping first time hoofs back up the field when unchallenged...

Woop, he's made it to the Profiles on the OS with his squad number now : http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~50863,00.html Needs a little more detail, I think.

I'm looking forward to the "return leg" version of this : http://www.htfc-world.com/reports/Southampton/southampton150809.htm :smt041

It's only about £15 in Tesco in Bursledon.

Newport County, bankrupt in 1989, restarted in the Hellenic League. Promoted to Southern League Midland, then Southern League Premier (then relegated again, then promoted again), reorganised (effectively promoted again) into Conference South, finally this season, 21 years later, they're top of Conf South with a 24 point lead and about to return to the level they were playing at when the old club were wound up. If Pompey Phoenix (lol) parachute into the Conf South or Conference I for one will be fcking LIVID, they were competing as equals with Newport in Div 3 only 6 years before Newport went bust.

Just make sure you put it somewhere where it isn't going to get dwarfed by a zillion new posts as well...

Disappointingly it says more about Leeds' faltering form than Norwich's. But if we win every game until June we'll go up, and it looks slightly more likely than it did a week ago. Tranmere away to break our crap pitch hoodoo, then Leeds and Swindon at home, if we get 9 points we are poised to challenge. Lots of matches between the other top sides but we've played most of them by then and our toughest game left at that point is Bristol Rovers away, where we've already won this season.

I think the words "the road" are missing from the sentence.

We've started keeping more clean sheets with him and Jaidi in the side together, and he's improved us defensively but he's certainly not the classy, cultured, passing centre back people were banging on about when we signed him. When Fonte has time he can hit a half-competent long pass or a decent square ball, but I think his hair seems to be responsible for most of the "ball-player" stereotyping. Can't fault his commitment, positioning or tackling though, just narks me that people talk so much crap about him having skills he doesn't necessarily have when he brings us plenty as it is.

Yeah, I was in the Northam and the keeper definitely tipped it onto the top of the bar.

"Don't forget to add 30 seconds on for the goal" ?
-
Yeah, that one.

Most of them seem to be as good as us at it...

Only 7462 users to go...

Well I know that, but for the sake of the in-breeding logic... That means his uncle is ex-Newport County Div 3 player Neville Chamberlain. Honestly.
-
What's to say his parents' surname wasn't already double barrelled ?

He's right, they did batter us up there... teams : 1-3 Davis ,Harding ,Murty ,Thomas ,Perry (Lancashire ,80 ) ,James (Thomson ,54 ) ,Wotton ,Schneiderlin (Mellis ,54 ) ,Lallana ,Lambert ,Rasiak Subs not used Bialkowski,Paterson,Oscar Gobern,Saganowski, 5-0 Davis ,Harding ,Otsemobor ,Fonte ,Jaidi (Seaborne ,80 ), Hammond ,Puncheon ,Schneiderlin ,Lambert (Oxlade-Chamberlain ,86 ) ,Lallana ,Barnard (Waigo ,78 ) Subs not used: Bialkowski,Thomas,Antonio,Wotton, The ones in bold are no longer first choice/don't get in the team/have been sold. Bit harsh on Murty, but everywhere else there are improvements...

Apart from Colchester, the teams with the worst pitches are all in the bottom 7, so it must be something to do with their club's resources.

Just worked out my collection of Saints shirts alone is worth about £1000 if you assume only one of each of the shirts on that site, and I've got 2 or 3 of all the recent ones plus a couple of the ecru, wide-striped Sanderson, etc. They don't appear to have my white/jade trim late 80s hummel away shirt on there either. And I refuse to get annoyed about giving away my 1994 PSG "Commodore/Tourtel" sponsored shirt... or the Candy Liverpool one (only worth £20 anyway).

God, I love that.

Anyone who pays those prices is a grade-A dingus. £249.99 for that Marseille shirt ? I had one of those, they were European Champions wearing that kit (and the white home version) and the replica industry had already switched on to the European and International market - there must be bloody thousands of them around. I've got a mahoosive bag o' various old Saints kits as well, most I've ever paid is £80 for the Hummel "Denmark" style shirt outside St Mary's in 2004-ish. I quite like the new polyester blend replicas in the club shop, much more realistic than those cotton ones, but if it doesn't have the manufacturer on it and wasn't made at the time, it's still not an original replica...

I read it the first time, he didn't "nearly" do anything as a "fact", you may as well have said he "nearly did a handstand". He didn't.

What does it take for the refs to spot the continual fouls on Lambert?
The9 replied to Gordon Mockles's topic in The Saints
Can't say I've noticed a problem to be honest, there's a foul in every aerial challenge somewhere and seeing as Lambert wins most of them (usually without jumping) it works in our favour to play on. He's VERY good at keeping the defender on the floor during challenges as well, I wonder how he does that without fouling..? -
I started "give me an O" last night, but most people around me didn't know who he was.
-
Not actual FACT as the ref saw it and allowed play to go on, but there was a ball thrown onto the pitch just before the goal and it would have been annoying as hell if he'd chosen to stop the game (reasonably enough), but luckily we went up the other wing and the spare was never in play. Anyway, everyone knows the way to slow the game down with multiball is for someone in the crowd to keep hold of the ball then sling it on the pitch just as the restart is about to occur.
