we should AIM for it this season, we may not achieve it BUT you must go out to win every game
-
so who does it have to be ?
-
NO problems i have always tried to be consistent in my dislike of the man, his abilities and legacy
-
Agreed My Mum and Dad were frantically on the phone to me this week end about forms etc, had to explain that they either needed to go to SMS or let me do their renewal. Also they(late 70's) were worried about renewing their car park ticket, although i have sorted that with the help of someone at SMS
-
sorry may be i was not clear i wanted lowe gone from 1997 i was trying to say, badly obviously, it did not matter how he did he was not liked and more importantly saw the majority of the fans as an inconvience
-
If we won games
-
personally i do not care if the new manager is a two headed alien from the planet Zog as long as he gets a team that can win home games, draw and win a few away. not even worried about attractive football as long as we win
-
this topic was on another thread yesterday saints have two examples in my 47 years of suppoer where a director of football, in actions worked Ted With Lawrie Lawrie with Bally
-
It did not matter how much good he did, because as soon as the club hit a blip he was going to get the blame. Because he was not liked by the majority irrespective of any success we had
-
What questions would you ask managerial candidates if you were ML?
70's Mike replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Tell me about the traditions of Southampton Football Club and then how will you re-produce these values on the pitch -
i am not saying it is a good thing but answering the post that it does not work , when in fact it has work twice for saints Ted and Lawrie then Lawrie and Bally. You just have to find the right people
-
Totally agree its about fitness and timing. winning or losing means nothing
-
looking after the football side of the club, the problem in his country is that people appointed as directors of football have to big an ego and cannot step back and just give advice like Ted did
-
and finding a system the current players can deal with
-
a manager really needs to be in place by early next week
-
but was that not what Ted was to Lawrie in the 70's?
-
Steve Coppell
-
attention grabber
-
glad to see Alan Knill mentioned by someone else with steve coppell as "Sporting Director"
-
Tim , i think now is the time to look forward, a bit like when Ted appointed Lawrie, i believe a new manager/coach should be a young guy learning his trade, given time, to build the club from the bottom upwards on the pitch. lets have a club build on solid foundations rather than quick fix sand jobs which we have had since 97
-
All very positive from the new owners, get it right on the pitch and this could take off
-
was he a big bloke , then?
-
no implication but many of them have 14 weeks work to do in 3
-
just a quick update , staff at SMS are still working to-night at 9.45pm
-
adult season ticket in Chapel £240 just over £10 a game
