Saints only Premier League club not to sign up to FA diversity code
Dusic replied to saintwbu's topic in The Saints
How about within football, where the population of UK professional players who are not white is far higher than 14%, yet the proportion in management, coaching and administrative roles is much less representative, and many suggest they are not considered and/or are put off applying for these roles? Is that an excuse? -

The best scenario would be to reach the window and not really need to use it. Full back cover is the only obvious one. Anything else would be injury related.
-
Unchanged from the Everton game, aside from anyone who is unavailable. Obviously.
-
Good access and questions to Semmens and Steele of late, and gives them a good platform to expand on some pieces in a way they can't in a fans forum. Would be great to get a current player on in this segment.

I said in the build up thread that for all Rodriguez's class on the ball he is poor off it and that Bertrand could capitalise...and he did. RB is a wily player, knows how to win a cheap foul, knows when to make cheap fouls and often has his best games against the best players. Wasn't necesarily MoTM today but he totally nulifed their main creative force and did damage at the other end. You love to see it.

Its Brexit, of course it will be a shit idea.

See Spurs at home as an example of why its bad. But at least we have an option to sub him now.
-
Last thing we need is an early yellow for Romeu.

No sign of Armstrong in todays training pics.

Theo and Diallo signed right at the end of the window, as in, very recently and have both therefore done recent interviews where this content will be taken from. If you watched Diallo's YT interview it covers the topics stated as being in this prog feature like influences as a player - so its not an additional interview but a transcript of his signing one, which is a big difference given how store you have placed on this! KWP is also a summer recruit and isnt being featured. The Salisu situation was definitely odd to start with, probably due to Covid quarentine etc (club media probably weren't camped out in his hotel room), but it appears to me to be clear given Hasenhuttl's recent comments: he is training, he is close to being an option and RH is pleased with what he has seen. He was obviously injured when he joined, hence not training with the squad. He is now training with the squad and has been in every gallery for about the last month. He is a young player, with little pro experience, who joined injured and is adjusting to a new style of football and life culture. I'm sure Ralph will throw him in soon, but after the clean sheets vs Burnley and WBA did anyone really expect that to be away vs Chelsea? He has been spoken about as a long term option so there is no need to throw him in before he is ready, and I will trust RH on when that is. Besides, we don't need 2 x CBs on the bench just to make people on SWF feel better.

He always seemed to have a good cameo and then when he did get rare starts he was poor. He is quick, and will certainly trouble the kind of defenders he will come up against in L1 but I've never thought he was tidy enough on the ball for PL level and didn't really have much guile about - just pace. He said so himself in his interview at Doncaster, that he has been working on not just relying on pace which worked as a youngster. Lets see how he does over 3 months. If he forces his way into contention here then fair play, but he did nothing on loan at Reading so need to see form over a longer period at L1 level before getting excited by him.

Guess he must either be playing for the U16s or be currently injured then as he hasnt been in any of the U18 or U23 squads, and obviously wasnt deemed worthy of a signing announcement. McQueen there but we have only named 20 so easy to add him. With Latham, Johnson and Lewis in the 20 it shows how they have slimmed the squad down. Very much a British core in this squad.
-
If, as usual, they list all the Academy players then maybe we will finally see whether we did sign Jay Rod II or not.
-
There is a Serbian midfielder in the U18s, Goran Babic who has been at Saints for a while, and has also been in England (and Serbia) age group training camps. Has scored a few at the start of the season and from watching the goals of the U18s win vs Leicester last weekend, he looks a player. One to watch.

Rodriguez is quality on the ball but shocking off it, and doesn't track back a huge amount. Bertrand could exploit that a few times. A good game to see where we are at. No Intl break excuses, a week to prepare and will face a team that will play to win and will give us space.

Ralph was bigging up Salisu as recently as Thursday saying we will see him soon. He has been in the training pics for a good while now. When we signed him he had missed the last few games of Valladolid's season with injury. I imagine that as he is a young player, with limited experience, and adapting to a new culture and style of football - they are being careful to introduce him at the right time. Would think our exit in the League Cup hasnt helped him.

Best player from the B team so far this season has just moved to L1 on loan, which is telling. There is nobody in this team who is going to make the step to the first team anytime soon.

We have definitely messed up the keeper situation. As it stands we will have 3 senior keepers still at the club til at least January. Highly likely that we have pissed off Gunn (who may have a longer term future at Saints) to reintegrate Forster (who most certainly won't). Lewis has obviously been given a contract extension as was OOC in the summer - but is miles and miles off ever being a PL keeper. Once he had the season playing games in Scotland he needed to keep being loaned out and getting real football, and the next two seasons messing around in the U23s probably harmed his career long term. Tommy Scott was signed from Yeovil seemingly to make up the numbers in the U23s after two others were signed in similar circumstances in recent seasons - Jack Rose and Kingsley Latham - both of whom have been released. Hopefully there is a good one in the Academy because for about the last 3 years the U23s have played with one who had approximately 0% chance of making the step up at Saints. Bizarre.
-
More to the point, if he was injured vs WBA as Hasenhuttl said, why was he allowed to go on Intl duty? I don't think he actually played for Mali either - so essentially missed two week rehab time. He is a good player and definitely worth persevering with, just needs to find some consistent availability - as he usually makes an impact when he plays.

Domestic-only transfer window - will Saints do any more business?
Dusic replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
The only reason we would be interested in another striker would be if two of ours were long term injured - and presently, that is not the case. We won't be signing Deeney, or any forward. -
He was suspended I believe. Accumulation of yellow cards.

Neil Danns is a free agent after leaving Tranmere last season, so he could be a good midfield cover option, and could sign outside of the window. Aside from Dannzy I can't see anyone else worth looking at. -
Armstrong must be a doubt as would be quarentined in Scotland til Friday if report are accurate. Would imagine Walcott, Salisu and Diallo will all be bench. Chelsea set to have a few back to fitness for this which is a shame.

Not sure why the other thread was closed so had to create a new one to post this. https://www.spreaker.com/user/12250300/mata-offered-man-utd-exit From about 37mins, Duncan Castles suggests DaGrosa has basically agreed the finance to takeover and its being discussed at PL level. The biggest backer is a NYC based private equity firm but there are question marks as they also want to get involved in funding transfer deals for other PL clubs (and gain interest on repayment). This company would be one of a number of investors and wouldn't have a majority share, but clearly for the PL this is a bit murky to say the least. It also suggests the financing of the deal means a return in the short/medium term would be required - which must be a concern as no PL clubs make a profit and let alone if the owner allegedly wants to buy up other clubs as well, based on the CFG model which is funded by extreme wealth. Doesn't have the sound of a great deal and the PL may reject it anyway. If the above is accurate of course. DaGrosa sounds like an absolute jerk from the other interviews.
