Funny how people see football. I like them both but its clear (to me) that Armstrong has clear physical qualities with his acceleration and is direct but of the two Redmond has far superior technical ability as a footballer, i.e first touch, weight of pass etc. In scenario where a ball was fizzed in to a player and they needed a sure touch, or were required to play a pass into a striker...I would back Redmond over Armstrong every time. For me Redmond is a similar type player to Lallana..and has thrived when given a roaming/central role as he can beat a player both sides and has a good shot on him. When you look at comparable players in our area of the league there are few I would take over Redmond, and its noticeable he has gotten better as our team has improved. Very different players and glad to have both.

Something which is often overlooked IMO is his availability and durability. He doesn't get rested, pretty much always plays the whole game and puts a shift in. Look at most wide players or attacking midfielders since the restart (and even before) - they get subbed frequently, rotated often and in our own examples of Djenepo and Boufal, have missed so many games. Being available is an underrated attribute from fans, but probably not from a Manager. Yes he hasnt been at his best the last two games, but he will be there from the start in the next game and probably the other 3 as well, when if others were more durable we would be able to give him a rest. We have a few issues still that are obvious, Redmond isn't one IMO.

He is excellent on the ball, much better than I expected he would be. Seems to have a great first touch and control that means he plays well in tight areas. On the evidence so far it would be good to keep him, but I fear the only way will be a straight swap for PEH otherwise Spurs will price him out of a move. He will be a starter for someone in the PL next season though, and Levy personally rates him so he may feel he can outlast Mourinho at Spurs.

Certainly seems like classic Saints: - Player has bargain release clause, speaks English and favours a PL move. - Rennes DoF states they want the player, have met the clause but he wants to move to an English speaking league and they won't force someone to join. Move on to other targets. - Saints make a lowball offer rather than paying the release clause - Rennes sense an opportunity and get to work on persuading the player that he should join them. CL football helps. - Saints then agree to meet the clause but in the interim period the player has changed his mind. (Possibly haggling over a bargain release fee doesn't scream ambition to him) - Meanwhile the other choice Disasi knows he wasnt first choice for Saints and gets other offers and is also not available - Saints get a big offer for Vestergaard but have to turn it down as they haven't brought anyone in and only have 2 CBs on the books who they actually want. (Ok, made this bit up).

I don't really see how Forster moves to Celtic any way other than on loan. No way they will get near his wages and no way he will walk away from his contract at Saints, and why should he - Reed was stupid enough to offer it. So its seems odd that the breakdown in talks was supposedly Forster not agreeing to the move because he wants it to be a permanent one. Maybe he feels like he wants another crack at the PL...and all the talk after RH came in was that in training he was the best keeper.

What if none of the other banks wish to lend to you? Or you can get more favourable terms from a private lender? The setup seems purely a way to be able to access the cash.

Any reason why thats your hunch? He quite clearly went off injured in the Arsenal game. Hasenhuttl has also been extremely complimentary about his attitude since he said he wasnt going to be captain. Sure, he didnt have his best game vs Arsenal, just like many of our players, but he was good and committed versus Norwich. Personally feel there is nothing to suggest other than he is injured. Genuinely injured.

I reckon we will sell Adams in the summer. He will want a move as has barely played for 8 months and Leeds will be back for him. Ralph clearly prefers the other three strikers so he is a saleable asset given how little he plays. Personally I still think he can be good for us. Was at Sheff Utd and his allround game was excellent and he was so unlucky in that game not to score. But reality is since around that time he has been on the edges.

The scenario where they make the easiest money is the one where they give Saints upfront cash and get it paid back on time, with interest and they have nothing else they need to do to earn it.

I'm not against that. If Celtic cannot buy him, and we are still paying the majority of his wages then we may as well let Hasenhuttl and Sparkes look at him and see if he is better than what we have. Would we be a whole lot worse off if we were to keep Forster and let Gunn go on loan to play a whole season in the Championship, which he probably needs to rebuild his confidence a bit? Obviously its different if there is a permanent offer for him, but we aren't a charity to help out Celtic. If they can't buy him then they lose their bargaining power somewhat. Seems clear Ralph isn't a huge fan of McCarthy. He dropped him at pretty much the first point he could last season.

Not sure I agree with the win-win bit. We are much better off with Ings than money that there is a huge doubt would be i.) fully spent or ii.) spent well to anywhere near replace what he brings. Finding a striker who is a reliable goalscorer is pretty much the problem for all the midtable sides: Burnley, Palace, Newcastle, Sheff Utd. They are so valuable, let alone when its a 'homegrown' player in his prime.

Is inconsistency always down to having a bad attitude? There can be many reasons for it, and its the nature of the marketnwe shop in. Every player will have certain question marks - otherwise a better team than us would have already bought them.
