transfer fees are dictated by the market, but if you are asking me if I think AOC is as good as Theo was at 17 then I'd have to say he is or certainly not far off. So I believe Premiership clubs will be all over him like a rash and £20k wages offers will come into play in the next year or so. He has the first touch, dribbling skills and genuine pace to go with it. I don't see many out there that offer that. Those that do don't stay in League 1 for long. It matters not whether you or I rate him, the question is how much will we pay him and his like in the lower leagues to keep them at the club. Will we pay a youngster £20k?
-
thanks, and you are right Walcott only got £20k a week. Wages have gone up since then though and don't kid yourself that Chamberlain is not regarded as highly.
-
IMO it is laughable to say we can compete wage wise with Premiership sides. If Chamberlain is offered a million quid signing on fee and £25k a week rising are we going to be able to match that in the third division? If so how does that equate with the club breaking even?

I never said it was not worthwhile having a youth policy. I could not agree with it more. What I am saying is that there is little chance of us retaining the very best players on mass like Manure did.

constantly sniding and being more negative than the next person about NC are not the same. Only an idiot would think so.
-
the very best players such as Chamberlain will leave SFC for a bigger club at some point in the rise of their careers rather than the fall. So how can this concept ever work? It is a great aim, but in the end it will only work when we are the big fish in global football. Is that going to happen in my lifetime?

are you failing to be funny or is this another love note for hypo? I say this because I don't always bend over and take what Cortese serves up myself, so does that make me an idiot?

oh please, time after time we get posts like this on here. Eventually I'll get bored of replying, but until then: Ever thought that the people moaning about the one thing are not the same people moaning about it's opposite?

In my utopia we would go up to the Prem in the next few years and then instead of bleading supporters dry the CLUB would use the TV money to fund any increase in wages and position our wage bill in such a way that that the prices did not need to be bumped up. Absolutel no reason whatsoever why could not happen. But it won't. The fact NC charges me £3 for the priveledge of buying an away ticket tells me everything about where ticket prices will be going should we rise up the leagues.

New training ground plans available to view now...

any idea why they changed their minds and decided to spend even more money on this? -
anyone can name drop, but the fact of the matter is keeping a group of brilliant youngsters at the club through the large part of their careers a la Manure and now Barca is pretty much impossible for anyone other than Manure and Barca. So to me it just sounds like hot air. Maybe I'm just a cynic, but its easy to say these things, much harder to see them through. Look at Boro and how they had to sell players. Villa appear to the latest side to lead the way in youth development, I wonder how long before their stars get cherry picked? You can't break even AND keep real talent at the club. In the end their heads are turned and then you either pay them Prem wages whilst we are in the lower division to keep (meaning costs go through the roof) or you sell them to ensure you don't have unhappy players at the club.

The way he puts it, it would seem that he answers to no one. Or is he just saying that the owners don't interfere? "I'm the boss." "Marcus never ever involved" "From the beginning I was the boss" "Nothing has changed"

Going for older women (when you are middle age yourself) I think is weird. Not a fan when in Four Weddings, but Amanda Mealing gets better every year for me.

but if you have the money for a roller and you wanted one you'd just go and get it. So I don't understand your point at all. -

absolutely spot on. So much rewriting of history. Fans completely overlook the fact he brought in the players that we are regard highly and steared us clear of trouble and then on almost towards the play offs. Yes the money makes the big difference, but Fonte still needed to be persudaded and Pardew had the ability to do that. Yes also we didn't play well in some games, but there weren't too many of those once we got going. His substitutions were almost always spot on. The idea that he didn't have a plan B is ********. He changed games on a regular basis. Leyton Orient away is a prime example. I don't agree with some that we were too narrow or we played a long ball game. We had genuine wide men that cut inside a fair bit and we have a big target man up front, but IMO we mixed it up a lot, passing it wide, long down the middle and everything in between. That is what made us hard to play against, we had all facits of the game in our locker. It matters not, as he has gone and we are relatively happy with Adkins. I have no idea why Ahhsley has replaced Houghton with Pardew, but Pardew can do a job there make no mistake. Best of luck to him. -

three sentences in the UKs largest paper is bloody good coverage considering who we are these days. If you know anything abut PR you will know that you try and get the story in the most applicable paper first and then work downwards. We may have offered the SUn an exclusive to guarentee the coverage. Just an educated guess.

if Glenn Roader can be manager anyone can -
I wouldn't mind betting Cortese has given this story to the paper. What better way to advertise the clubs availability?

"Fans Love Players like Puncheon... who take people on...."
Chez replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
fans expect wide men to beat the full back every single time. There are only so many games in a row that a winger can be on top. In the end the fullback dominates the winger and the fans then start to get frustrated and in the end get on the back of the wideman. What tends to happen is the widemen loses confidence, starts to play it simple and is then dropped and sold. A new club offers the chance to start all over again. The only time this changes is when you get a winger that is so good he nearly always beats the fullback, or if not all the time, he does it just in time before the fans get on his back. -
Pietersen gets his century and there right in front of you is a saints fan in Flybe shirt. Nice.

what can I and my own federation get in return for my vote. I suspect the UK press will be keeping a close eye on Russian friendlies over the next ten years and if at all possible the income generated from these games. Mind you how do you track bribes when they could extend to building contracts, TV contracts, advertisements and pretty much anything.
