he walked straight off, but clapped fans in the itchen. I think he was perhaps more narked at Lambert for not letting him take the free kick than the fans. He wasn't booed, there were just some loud growns when he missed.
-
I could have marked him out of the game at their place, so that's not saying much. A goal is exactly what he needed. I listened to the post match interview and he used the term frustration about ten times, so he obviously has been suffering. If he can get another on Saturday he can get his season moving and we'll be unstoppable.

the abuse Fuller got made me realise that many Saints fans are sheep that know little about football. It takes all sorts, and you just need to ignore those that you feel lack understanding, and support the side as you see fit - just as they do.

I've defended Lambert over the last few weeks having criticised him earlier in the season, but I notice he was voted MOTM. I didn't see that at all. Yes he scored, but if he hadn't I would suggest most would have been asking the same questions about his form as they have all season. I might be wrong as I didn't focus on him all that much today, but was he really improved today? Interested to find out peoples thoughts as I'm not sure.

yep, the fella a few seats to the right must have found out his wife has been ****ed by Kelvin
-
perhaps he is playing well because Jacket has shown faith in him and that has boosted his confidence, not to mention not having his own fans jumping on his back at every opportunity. Still any excuse to lay into the fella.

yep, he was excellent. Strong, fast across the ground, got stuck in, kept the ball and passed it well. He was gutted to be subbed (which i8s a good sign), but I guess the little tug back (in front of the ref) whilst on a yellow gave Adkins the jitters and he played it safe by bringing Chaplow on. Really pleased for him as he has struggled after the U21 game. Real competition at CM for the first time in a long time. I hope there aren't too many more internationals between now and the end of the season.

I thought Roberts dissapeared badly, but Pilkington looked a good player

Richardson dislocated his shoulder, please tell me how that was Pardews fault? Lallana's injury was the same one as from last season that the doctor suggested he rest. Hardly Pardews fault that it did not repair and we had to operate in the end. You might be on to something with Barnard's hernia as that can be down to overplaying, but again, a few extra laps in preseason? Nah.

he's not the long term answer but he played well today once he got going - he seems to be slow out of the blocks in a lot of games. He needs a long run in the side, but will he get it?

A few things that stick in my mind. Firstly the reaction to going 1-0 down. Outstanding effort to turn things around and shows we have players with the right stuff. The second thing was the display from the much maligned Schneiderlin. He had his best game since he came back from Internatioaanl duty and was unlucky to be subbed to protect him from himself. As much as I rate Chaplow I have to applaud Adkins for giving Morgan another shot, when perhaps most fans wouldn't and he delivered. Strong and on to every second ball. The final thing the was confirmation that a striker is needed (as if anyone didn't know it already). All those early chances for the very decent Guly need to fall to a true striker if we are to get promoted. Very pleased with the reaction to the Brentford game, now can we put a run together? Davis 5 some poor kicking (a bit like the old days) and a strange choice to let the ball bounce in the area. No great saves today Butterfield 5 better than Brentford but not much. Played them all on for the open goal miss. Jaidi 8 poor start when beaten by Lee a few times, but then dominated Fonte 7 very poor start and looked a little lost but dominated later Harding 6 Not quite at his best (when he bullys players) early on, but second half he was solid as ever. Chamberlain 9 showed exactly why he is in the papers, caused havoc but showed great composure as well. Worrying injury, hopefully just a knock Schneiderlin 7 covered the ground and picked up the pieces, subbed as yellow card put him at risk Hammond 7 slow start but overall another decent showing Lallana 9 should have scored but other than outstanding Guly 7 not a striker but once he got going worked his socks off Lambert 7 great goal but not a dominating display by any means. He and Guly eat each others space. Him and Guly may have falled out over free kick at end. Richardson 7 Solid. Why did he not start? Chaplow 7 nicely taken goal and usual energy, but I actually felt he left a few more holes than Morgan. Interesting to see who will start on Saturday Dickson Usual hard runing and effort. Surprised he did not start

I'm getting a bit fed up of reading this tripe about Pardew working them too hard and that is the reason for everything bad about the start of the season. Lambert and Pucheon got injured, but the other 25 players didn't. Injuries happen, the poor start to the season...well who knows exactly, but a few extra laps round the pitch?

Chamberlain to Arsenal or Liverpool £10m
Chez replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
agreed, but I fear our rise through the divisions might be too slow to keep him. Hope not, but his Dad seems slightly uncomittal when talking about his future. Lots of `happy where we are for now' rather than `he's going nowhere'. I suppose he'd be mad to close doors, but I'm not confident of a long stay at ours. He is a tremendous talent and I think he has what it takes to go all the way. -
I think you are right. Why on earth we signed a keeper before we had sold the one we had is beyond me.
-
What on earth are you talking about? I don't think I've ever read such a poor summary of a player as this in all my days. These `attributes' may be true (as they may be of almost every player in the side) but they certainly don't sum up what he does and does not offer. Benji's point about not hiding is spot on and a sure fire sign of a decent player, allbeit at our level. He came through the ranks at MK Dons, before playing in the first team for 3 years. He was at Barnet for two years. At Plymouth for 1.5 years and at our place for a year.
-
we swapped the sell on clause for a third string keeper. Kelvin Davis had to have been leaving at the time for us to get that desparate. If not then total madness.
-
very well put indeed. Find a Morgan Schneiderlin thread quickly and add this wonderful insight.

Wilson didn't think he was good enough and released him. League 2 Barnet picked him as a free agent. He was then bought by Plymouth because he played bloody great for Barnet. Every player would make that move. At Plymouth he had a few poor games and they dropped him like a stone. Perhaps he was out of his depth in the Championship, but he certainly didn't get a decent run at it. I think any winger can look great one minute and poor the next. If you don't start well the confidence goes and the fans jump on your back. That doesn't just happen at Saints. MK Dons rescued him by taking him on loan. That loan period didn't have anything to do with poor attitide, he just wasn't getting games. It's not easy going out on loan, but he was tremendus for the MK Dons. After that brilliant spell at MK Dons he joined us from Plymouth. You know the rest. He's had four clubs and been loaned from three of them. I'm not saying Pucheon is Mr Football, but to be chastised for playing well at Barnet and MK Dons and getting progressive career moves is clutching at straws IMO. Quite clearly he fell out with a coach at our place, but its our loss unless we replace him next week.

Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)
Chez replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
what a complete waste of a day. Charlton obviously tried their best, but they and D'Urso should be held to account for calling it off that late. Matches should be called off at the time when away fans would normally set off. I can understand freak storms but no excuse today. -
I didn't get a ticket, not looking at the OS on a regular basis is a bad move. If anyone can't go I'll take their ticket off their hands.
-
so what you are after is a NPC player that is playing regularly and scoring a few goals. Yeah, cos that sort of player is just desperate to drop down a division aren't they? NPC subs are exactly the standard of player/standard we can hope to acquire IMO. The alternative is from our own league, the leagues below or overseas.
