we've rotated Chaplow, Hammond and Morgan so why not Chamberlain, Lallana and Pilkington. Long old season...
-
doesn't mean we haven't made a bid.
-
er, actually he's talking about the spanish style ole's when we were keeping posession, subsequently used by D&R when we lost the ball.
-
Savage dies his hair red and we struggle to come up with good quality derogitary banter. By the way is it just me that is embarressed by the "We've got more fans than you" and "we won't play you ever again" chants?
-
really? I'm a massive fan of Morgan so was very interested to see how Hammond would perform on his return and I felt he had a pretty good game if unimpressive. It was tough for both central midfielders as the ball was in the air a lot in the first half. I didn't see too many air kicks, or misplaced passes.

we need to add a striker with pace to give us variety. Tyson for example.

the `not good enough to fill a spot on the bench' Ritchie scored for Swindon. I don't ever want to hear a skates crying about having a small squad.

I am not going to apologise for calling you clueless. I actually missed the first minute or so of the second half (getting food not drink) thankfully returning just as we opened the scoring (might see myself on TV as I was the only one standing between the cornerflag and goal), so these three incidents of kicking straight out may have happened then - otherwise I didn't see them. They did not happen in my mind - hence my response. Kelvin gets far too much stick for his kicking. Yes at times he kicks poorly, but other times his kicks are actually brilliant long balls and he never ever gets credit for those. I must admit there is a bloke a few seats to the right of me at SMS that berates Kelvin from start to finish and he is an absolute ****ing **** with zero knowledge of the game. He does my head in so much that I may be going too far in my praise for Kelvin, but even if I do I still think he is often judged by what he did before and not what he does in a particular game. His kicking was fine today, if a little short at times. By the way he came out three times to make catches, called well and swept adequately.

I heard Forrest have bid £2m for him - again this would give them the cash to buy Puncheon - although I'd of thought they'd want £4m.

Harding was my favourite player last season - I tried in vain to get the "you'll never beat Dan Harding" chant going (a la Des Walker) - but this season Dickson is better in my eyes. What a brilliant situation to be in and exactly why I argued all summer long against those saying `why have we signed a left back?' If a quality player is there buy him even if you end up with three of them. Dickson has everything you can ask for of a left back, inclouding some real quality going forward. Let me give you one very simple example today. He overlapped well, but when getting close to the byeline he ran otu space to cross but he had the confidence to clip it past the fullback right on the touchline. Harding doesn't have that ability on the ball.

we need a right midfielder especially if Adkins is going to take Chamberlain off towards the end of games to prevent against injury.
-
Signing Chamberlain makes a lot of sense adding to the Shelvey acquisition and creating a talent pool for the next ten years as Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs etc seem to be doing.
-
IMO he is as good as Theo when at the same age. I know more about football than anyone. Smiley winkey eye thing.

Why on earth do the Daggers put away fans in the new stand behind the goal. Suited us fine as we could really get behind the lads and drive home to them as they came out (the tunnel was in the same stand) and back into the changing rooms how much we wanted them to win here...and boy did they respond. On a very bad pitch that restricted football we did everything possible to get it down and play. Our link up play with Guly, Lambert and Lallana was absolutely oustanding. Lambert had his best game this season and him and Guly worked well together for once. With all due respect the opposition were obviously not the greatest, but they battled hard especially the lad Green (who is decent) and their left back (who gave Chamberlain as tough a game as anyone this season). On a different day they might have actually grabbed a draw. At 1-0 they had a stonewall pen (the words of two Daggers fans walking in front of me) denied that saw pretty much every outfield Dagger moan at the ref. We immediately went up the other end and scored. Then at 2-1 they had a freekick that seemed to do a Lampard (it was at the other end so Saints fans just held their breath). We then went up the other end and scored. But don't get me wrong that would have flattered them massively as we ran the game from start to finish. Davis 7 - Nothing to do, one easy save. Kicked a little short on occasions but set uo a great chance in the opening minutes with a great long ball to Lambert. No doubt the clueless will say his kicking was bad when in fact it was fine and on occasions like the one I mentioned first class Dickson 8 - Very very competitive, good going forward, solid defensively, never beaten ever. Brilliant reaction having been dropped Fonte 8 - I criticised him in the last game but excellent today Jaidi 9 - Won almost everything in the air despite Savage being massive. Hard to fault him and perfect selection for this long ball type game. Not sure who was to blame for their goal. Butterfield 6 - Beaten by their pacey winger in the second half a few times. Near the end especially our right side was opened up and he didn't get tight enough. Our weakest link today, but still not terrible. Oxlade-Chambo 7 - Great battle between him and their pacey fullback, he gave it all and came out on top, just. A handful. Just what you want out wide. Didn't like seeing him come off as Guly is not a wide player (despite him scoring from there) and shows we need a right midfield added to the squad. Hammond 7.5 - Midfield was bypassed a lot, but when it did go through the middle Hammond was right there. Chaplow 7 - Quiet game for him due to reason above. Some quality touches though, this is the reason we are dominating games right now as our central midfield three have stepped up to the plate. Lallana 10 - Believe me I don't always give Lallana a good score. I must have given him about ten 5 out of 10s last season, but he was immaculate again and caused D&R all sorts of problems. I don't remember him losing it once. Lambert 8 - Best game for bloody yonks. Won headers that then went to a white shirt, linked the play brilliantly and his goal was simply divine. Guly 9 - Tremendous display again. Link up play was very good indeed and D&R found him a real handful. Grat focal point of our attack and I was dissapointed to see him moved out wide. But he even did OK at right midfield and took his goal very well. Barnard 7 much better than the Exeter game. Touch improved and more effective. Rchardson We came under pressure when he came on and our right side looked a little weak.

Cook had a bad knee injury and then the QPR medical staff ****ed up big style by allowing him to come back way too early. He had to have a second operation and now finally is ready to start playing games again. If I am honest I can't see QPR allowing him to join us unless we guarentee to give him games and they probably want him to come on a short term loan (just to get his match sharpness back) rather than till the end of the season as we need. I may be wrong and if I am then he would be a brilliant signing. He was one of the best championship players in his first spell at QPR earning his move to the Premiership. This could be a great opportunity to grab a real championship level star.

you asked what we had achieved not what we had won. We won some football fans hearts, well, MLT did anyway. Nice potted history on the Football League show by the way. Can you add a little more flesh to the bones of why Palace are your big rivals?
-
scoring goals for Donny in the NPC. Why would he want to make that move?
-
Happy he is doing well there. Rated him for many years and have been dissapointed with the way some fans have singled him out for stick. We're not missing him at the moment but its a long old season and an injury of two would bring him back into the side and we might be relying on his performnces if we are to get promoted. Sadly it feels as though the two parties won't make up and he won't return.
-
runners up, a few European qualifications and a single FA Cup final. Not heard of Wikipedia? Happy new year.
-
don't agree with that. He looked a very good attacking fullback to me and a genuine threat. His starting position was so high up the pitch and he coinstantly wanted the ball to start attacks. If we swapped him for Richardson it wouldn't weaken us. As for the game as a whole, they overplayed it in hte first half allowing us to swarm all over them. When we got tired and space opened up their passing game caused us real problems in the second half and they we were holding on in places. We are decent (and improved since then) and they matched us. I felt they looked like a top of the table side playing away at one if not the best sides in the league.
-
we won't lose anyone (we want) and we'll get a loan in to replace Puncheon should he go out. Cook from QPR.
-
Harley had a decent first touch, beat Lallana one one one in the first half on just the one occasion. He then quickly moved inside and generally tried his best to link up the play but we were strong today despite them having three against our two in the middle. Tisdale clearly rates him as he gave him the free role (Toti position) which to me is only given to players with real talent. He doesn't have pace and he won't get that free role in our side so I just wonder where he would fit in. I'd like to see how he plays in a 4-4-2. If we are going to sign a winger from our division it should be one that has caused Harding problems as very few have done that in the last 18 months.

clucking bell, you've just brought that horrific night at Wycombe back into my head. cheers.

Its a good club with some great fans, I have no issue with them whatsoever. It's a football web forum. Believe it or not these places are home to some right idiots that aren't representative of the fanbase as a whole. Don't go on their board if you can't handle some ribbing, fibbing and bias opinion.
-
to be fair one or two on here clearly rated him therefore there will be a degree of dissapointment that our rivals have got him, but I don't think this is anything a 4-0 win today won't put right.
