Seaborne was poor IMO. Morrison beat him every time in the air. Worrying as ballwinning is supposed to be his best facit. Jardi and Fonte will be tremendous. Otsemobor did OK.

I think its a continuous wirring noise which comes from the revolving managers door
-
yep. Seems strange that we signed two. I hope Seaborne improves on today as well as he was very poor IMO.

Can we be truly successful with Morgan AND Lallana
Chez replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
his pitiful game at Leeds has put AP off I think and perhaps rightly so. Mind you everyone has bad games. I agree though that if Holmes or Lallana are on the left then we must have pace down the other side. For me the 4-3-3 must come back. I'm amazed with Connelly out we have stuck to the 4-4-2 -
when they came to the Dell in the 88(ish) season they did it for about half an hour continuous creating an amazing atmosphere. That's enough Millwall back slapping for me though.
-
no idea why we don't play Waigo up the middle. Get him chasing things rather than Lallana. Don't agree with your Morgan opinion. He's mile better than James. Miles. A bit worried that Seaborne didn't win jack.

in the 4-4-2. Add to that (apart from today) we hardly ever see the bll down the left hand side either. -
I'm glad you said that. Hammond seems to be the blue eye boy on here. I agree we could do with another CM.

Lallana was running rings round sides in the 4-3-3 and scoring goals for fun. Lets go back to it and use Connelly as an impact striker. No idea why Morgan is singled out as a luxury player. Wotton is your alternative. -
I went and we were **** IMO. We'll be better next week.
-
no one has criticised him like I have, but I can honestly say I thought he was very good today. Great touch and passing. He never gave the ball away anf fought much harder than I have seen in the past. Two concerns, Lallana seems to be stepping on his toes in the first half, and the other that I didn't see Holmes beat the full back once. Isn't a winder meant to dribble and get to the byeline and cross the ball?
-
Wotton did pretty well but he has no legs and therefore covers himself by sitting so deep. This means Schneiderlin does all the runing and invariably we lose control and win no second ball. James was OK, tidy in fact. But did their left back ever look under threat ever? Thats the problem, no pace, no trick, poor dribbler and in the end he just holds up and end. That is fine is you want to play it safe but shouldn't we be taking the games to people like we did earlier in the season with Waigo/Antonio.

The Millwall roar. Excellent if you ask me. Unique and very effective. How many did they have in the ground? Not too many but everyone joins in.

my only thought was he did somethng in the warm up but it was too late to change the teamsheet?

what a ****ing terrible game that was. One of the worst games of football I have seen all season, if not THE worst. Head tennis and arial pinball was the order of the day with next to no football played at all and of the two sides we were probably the worst offenders. I thought pardew picked the wrong side completely. With James in midfield we looked far too defensive, and for once we had no penetration or threat out wide. If we are going to play Lallana up front we can't have him chasing aimless balls over the top all day. Its got to be feet and the same applies to Lambert. He had a very poor day in my book but this was not helped by a ref failling to spot the fouling going on, but it was the direct football the was the real problem. The top centre backs in the league eat that **** for breakfast. Davis 9 could do nothing about goal but kept us in it anyway. Decent distribution Ostemober 7 solid display, but I think it was him that was beaten for the goal Fonte 9 Terrific debut, won a lot in the air and seemed to always be in the right position. He's the business. Seaborne 4 Won next to nothing in the air and looked very nervous in posession. Expected better. Harding 8 Again a very solid display. Battler. James 6 didn't do too much wrong to be honest and first touch was excellent, but offered little threat Schneiderlin 6 competed well but didn't control the game. Lacked support. Thought he should have got on the end of one cross but didn't stick his head in where it hurts. Hammond 5 - was doing fine until injured Holmes 7 - very good game and that's from someone that does not rate the lad. Touc imaculate and never gave the ball away at all. However he offered very little threat. No pace means its all in front of defenders. Need pace on the other side if he is going to play. Lambert 4 didn't do anything really. Beaten in the air all day. Worrying as the top sides seem to have his number. Lallana 6 Busy but not enough service. Looks much better as part of a 4-3-3 Wotton 5 not a lot wrong but sits far too deep meanign we don't pick up any second ball. Antonio 8 his pace and strength created problems immediately. Shoukd have come on earlier Waigo where was he for their goal? Shoukd have come on much much earlier. Why not play him down the middle and Anotnio down the right and take it to them? Were dissapointed in the way we played. We mus return to the 4-3-3 formation in my book especially when Connelly is not in the side.

LM please. We have no cover there at all. Don't talk to me about Holmes. He is ****.

I wasn't sure of it was him or Bougherra that looked good at their place. That reminds me, what happened to Peter Madsen in the end?

christ, if anyone was a little nervous about Seaborne after reading the Exeter forum, they'll be shaking when you read the Norwich forum about Otsemobor http://www.pinkun.com/cs_pinkun/cs/forums/3/1959516/ShowPost.aspx#1959516 "Firstly we signed him as a free agent so my guess is he was probably on a decent wage, which is ok if your in the side and playing regularly - but if you are back up then its a bit of a waste of cash. Secondly you couldn't really stick him on the bench as cover because he can only play one position, Lambert has always opted to field 'attacking' benches with minimal defensive cover and with this in mind Spillane is a better bet (and a player who was in a real rich vein of form before he got injured). There is no doubt that Semi has ability, and enough pace to give Usain Bolt a decent race, but how many times did he use it effectively. One decent performance out of four isn't good enough and the bloke next to me made a great point against Millwall - if he cut out the lapses in concentration and dozyness he would still be at Liverpool. Time and again he dallied in possesion, and I was never confident when he was in the team, because a successful game for him was getting through ninety minutes without dropping a clanger. How many times was there space to run into on the overlap and he stood on the halfway line wondering what everyone was getting on his back for, how many times did it take him three touches to get the ball under control, how many times did he turn back inside into trouble when a clipped ball down the line was a much better 'out', or take his eye off the ball for a split second as the ball rolled out for a throw in! Nothing against Semi, and wish him luck at Saints, they've obviously just gone on the number of games he's played (when realistically we didn't have anyone else to play there), rather than scouting him - and as others have said, it has to weaken their promotion bid a tad!" this one is slightly better "Semi had the potential, I love a full back who can go forward and be a threat his pace was brilliant... alas when he went forward no-one offered him an option... defensively he had no one capable of covering if he went forward we now have a lack of pace in our back four which is a must if we intend to continue to move forward... happy with the cover as many have said if only mcveigh, cureton and theo would follow and as I have said before Iexpect lappin and doc to leave in s ummer... we need to get rid of the deadwood from last season and the season before who offer us nothing but a large dent in our wages semi will do fine at saints, I believe he is a capable championship defender but only if he has a good defence around him... as said I feel we are more than adequate in this division... however next year our current defence is no better than a lower mid table defence good luck semi... but feel it is a good move and hopefully one of many before the end of the year and I hope lambert continues not to offer new contracts to our deadwood"

AP was happy with Ward or Seaborne, bids went in for both, both clubs accepted and Pardew choose Seaborne. Simple. Why all the fuss?
-
agree except Lallana on left and Waigo on the other side, oh and Holmes can do one. Antonio from the bench has been terrific, especially away from home. Add to this Millwall scouts will have seen him struggle in recent weeks and not even mentioned him in their reports so he can be our surprise. Having said that Perry will start.

nor me. Despite the flurry of goals I could see he was slow, didn't hold the ball up well and his decisions when it came to passing were terrible. I thought I might be wrong but every time I see him he gives the ball away so cheaply its not true. Never been all that impressed. Shame his wage is too big to attract anyone from the CCC lower half. We should have agreed to pay the shortfall in wages when Ipswich came in.
