  1. McGoldrick has ability. Give the lad time and he'll become a top player for us or at least a sizeable cheque.
  2. ST holders should be given whatever they want. We even face redicule and at times hostility from posters on this board and anyone brave enough to buy a ticket in March when we looked like we would be in League 1 deserves a medal IMO, never mind first dibs on extra tickets. Everyone that wants a ticket will get one thoguh IMO.
  3. as did Dobie in two spells at Carlise... whatever way you look at it the guy is not wanted here (apart from by a percentage of the fans) and I just hope we can offload him permently as I don't want us to start paying his wages again come May 16th (or whenever the season ends).
  4. didn't see him getting beat in the air at the back post every single time then? He's a liability defensively.
  5. He was as good if not better against Reading. I also rate McGoldrick and trust my judgement of a player against anyone on here. He was too lazy early doors but since Stern `Lazy' John has gone he has come into his own in terms of workrate an effort. Funny that.
  6. Its a big jump up but I've seen enough. He looks a better prospect than Robertson and Pekhart. I'd be interested to know what his scoring record is like for the reserves/youth team. He looks a decent target man to me so goals won't be the be all and end all anyway but an added pysical presence would be great and he looks like he has it.
  7. I've been a massive supporter iof Davis over the years but he's not England quality. Hope he keeps up the good work though. I wonder if any Premiership side is watching him perhaps for cover?
  8. playing three central midfielders to their two had more of a bearing IMO.
  9. I disgaree about James. Whenever a cross goes tot he backpost he is beaten. We were very lucky indeed on Saturday when this happened. He is absolutely terrible in the air (even Skacel is better) and he is slow. He also get drawn deep far too easily leavign space behind to expose. Thsi has happend several times recently including the goal at Reading. He is a decent player IMO but as a right back he is a liability. I also disagree about removing Surman from the middle. He is playing really well and without hsi forward runs from midfield you watch how stagnent we quickly look. It is extremely important to have people runniung off the ball and he does more of that than anyone else.
  10. has he not scored goals at youth team level?
  11. I doubt Manyoo will sell out. It wil be on the box and Saints fans have got out of the routine now. If you want a ticket you will get one.
  12. As the thread title says I think it is time to start with Patterson up front. I've seen him come on two or three times now and on each occasion he has looked excellent in my opinion. He appears to have a decent first touch, strength to hold the ball up and can lead the line. This is perfect for McGoldrick who needs a big number 9 to play off. Skacel also loves him for as he offers a great out ball (allbeit long) and it actually sticks unlike with Robertson. I also like his work rate and his desire. A miscontrol is followed by a fully fledged tackle not a shrug of the shoulders. Patterson also offers decent height in both boxes which Robertson doesn't. In fact what does Robertson offer us? For staters he lacks pace, goals, strength, first touch and in the end he is a Sheffield United player so whats the point in us giving him time to develop (unless of course he is going to be here long term which must be a possibility). Patterson on the other hand is ours and perhaps just needs games. The time has come IMO.
  13. one of worst games on Saturday though
  14. play Patterson, he has all the attributes to lead the line with McGoldrick free to play the second striker role behind him.
  15. two problems with that idea: 1) no one wants to buy Saga, Rasiak or John especially when they can loan them for free (wages apart). 2) any funds coming in through player sales will need to be used to lower the overdraft.
  16. and you sir are a **** of the highest order. Stern is no messiah and people with differign opinions to your own are no mopre skates than they are stupid. McGoldrick is improving all the time, is on peanuts compared to John and actually runs around. His link up play with Lallana is a delight. By the end of the season we will have a real talent on our hands and if we can keep hold of the guy we may end up with another get out of jail free card to trade in.
  17. don't see your logic about Stern. Perhaps they just wanted a short term loan to see how he fitted in. If he doesn't do the business they can gie him a miss. Rasiak is on loan for the season. Its Dobie thats back.
  18. totally with you.
  19. my 11 too. Patterson looks quality to me and McGoldrick looks best in the hole down the middle.
  20. boy was it cold and Charlton still have terrible half time service. Not a bad game and glad to see that we can come out after half time and improve lie so many sides do at SMS. Great substitution by Jan, he starting to make the right decision. Perhaps I was wrong about him. Davis - 8 one save came from his dropped catch. Some rediculous short passes need to be eradicated. One world class save. James 5 - like his composure on the ball and decent crossing but ****ing hell he is slow and lightweight. He is a massive weak link when it comes to deep crosses. Boy do we need a real right back. Cork (3 first half) 8 second half. Gray ****ed all over him. In midfield he ran the show with Surman. Perry 7 - solid but only when Pearce was along side him. Skacel 7 decent display. Nothing offered going forward though. Schneiderlin 6 only when we had three in the middle did we get control. Get stuck in lad. Surman 8 - tremendous effort. He was everywhere and bombed on all game. In top form and I just can't understand anyone that does not see his talent. McGoldrick 7 not bad game, just needed a little more. Lallana - 6 looked slightly tired and gave the ball away quite a bit. Caused problems but lack of end product again. BWP 4 - must be something about the valley. He was dreadful last season and didn't do nearly enough on Saturday. Get to the ****ing byeline. Robertson 2 - ****e. Drop him. Pearce 8 tower of strength and we suddenly looked solid at the back. Patterson 8 - time to start him. Looks miles better than Robertson. If we got to the byeline and crossed we would be more of a threat. A draw was about fair. Can't wait for the next game. Watching Saints right now is very good fun.
  21. Burton got away it. If only I had a louder voice.
  22. can't be bothered with all the plastic/uber ********. Just ****ing happy we haven't got some poxy home draw against another ccc side. Can't wait to see if Schneidelin, Cork, McGoldrick, Surman and Lallana can cut it against Premiership opposition.
  23. Lucetti was 36 (now 37), and wanted a two year deal. Anyone that watched him closely last season will have seen that he was well past his best (which was good I might add).
  24. there are others like you but I am certainly not one of them. Apart from the fact he is still only 22, is finding his feet in the middle and playing in a very average side, Surman has played pretty well in most games this season and has been excellent in the last three or four IMO. How many current Saints players nutmeg an opponent, outmuscle him to the ball, beat the next man all hands up and create havoc in the opponents midfield? That was tremendous play in front of the Northam and just a snippet of what he does wee in week out. other than fancy footwork Surman ran all night long. He worked his socks off and constantly made surging runs forward though not always found. He saw more of the ball than anyone else, never shying away from his responsibilities. Yes some passes go astray but he's always looking to create soemthing and thread that kilelr ball. Enjoy that as when he is sold we will haev the like sof Wotton hoofing it anywhere and the likes of you moaning how **** we are. By the way I have never seen him pull out of a tackle. If I was you I'd take that guys advice.
  25. Quinn and Keane spent millions (about £7m in fact before the summer wondow closed) as soon as they took over and then went on a massive winning streak. I wonder what got fans returning, Quinn saying the right things or the team threatening promotion?
