Its interesting to read this an other write ups on Jones. There seems to be a belief amongst some on here that Jones is some hipster exciting manager but everything I am seeing suggests he us as old school cloggy as they come. There's people on here raving and getting excited about Jones because "at least he's not Sean Dyche". But from what I can see, he is Sean Dyche. That's exactly what he is.

As soon as the news came through I thought to myself that this is the kind of appointment made by a club where money is no object.

Some of these hot takes are absolutely appalling. Adkins was hired as a man with two League One promotions under his belt. We hired the best guy we could get to get us promoted. The Nathan Jones equivalent in that scenario would be someone who got to the L2 play offs with Torquay or something the previous year. And when Adkins was sacked he was higher up the table than Ralph is now. Was still a shame to get rid of him regardless of what came next. Honestly this stuff is pitiful.

I'm not devastated about that, I've never heard of him until about three weeks ago. Recruiting Nathan Jones shows the scope of ambition of the club. The Les Reed culture of "look how awfully clever and different we are" lives on. Inexperienced squad + Inexperienced manager in a league season where it is really hard to see 3 other clubs clearly worse than us. This is not the recruitment move we need right now. He got to the play offs last season, great. Look at the team and manager who won the frigging play offs right now. It might work out but the overwhelming most likely scenario is relegation. A couple of days of exciting speculation would be nice but the Bananarama Sturrock it is.

Dreadful analogy - there are foreign managers scrapping about in the Championship and (to a lesser extent) L1 and I wouldn't want them either. Currently he is doing the best he has ever done and he is 8th in the Championship. And we know he failed at Stoke a bigger club with bigger expectations than Luton. He can be called Jose McGuardiolason and that ain't some amazing record. We've had Dave Jones and Sturrock and Adkins so we know what lower league managers can do.

Being that this board has never actually recruited a manager we don't actually know what they will like.

I think the only "dick moves" being made are by the club. Clearly leaking like a sieve to The Athletic and making themselves look absolutely shambolic. Blaming a decent journo for being first to a story seems to me as off-target as Che Adams.

I think the sheen has come off Sports Republic. The way this is coming out is an absolute bloody shambles.
