    George Burley

When he was appointed it felt like exactly the right manager, a really good fit and someone who could take us up. Unfortunately it didn't quite turn out that way and he spent the last of our money trying to get there. But gave us some great moments. Good luck fighting it George.
  2. "Well no one can name anyone better" "No one can suggest anyone" "OK, who else is there" LEE CARSLEY LEE FUCKING CARSLEY INVINCIBLE UNBEATABLE HE WILL NEVER EVER SING THAT "THE SAINTS ARE COMING, THE SAINTS ARE COMING" SONG BEFORE A GAME UNSTOPPABLE LEE CARSLEY.
  3. Please can you let us know when you are finally satisfied that Adam Armstrong has been given a "chance" to play in the Premier League. 50 plus Premier League appearances over two seasons (returning 2 whole goals each one) was not according to you "a chance". Now this season three starts and zero goals. How many more games does he have to play before you accept he has had "a chance"? Does he need to start all 38 without fail? Funny how Ben Brereton Diaz doesn't get the same "chance" before you start slagging him off. Why doesn't he get 50 games grace from you?

Typical disingenuous bullshit from you. We know what you wrote because we read it at the time.
  5. You're not actually Charlie Wayman, are you?
  6. What kit do you think we will wear in the World Cup final?
  7. Don't you berate other people for having a different opinion like every single time you post?
  8. Apparently it's like a roll of carpet down there
  9. I think they were the first club to stack up a load of debt, go into admin to write all off and then carry on. The points deductions we have now sprung from what they did and the punishment they didn't get.
  10. But they don't really ever discuss what other pundits say. Pretty much without exception they have usually been to the game themselves. They are a primary source, not a secondary source chatting about what other people say.
  11. I wonder what kind of thing an idealogical cretin would cut and paste on a football forum.
  12. They did talk about it, nothing was "brushed under the carpet". Don't really know what you were listening to or what you were expecting them to say.
  13. As far as I’m concerned, East Stand Nic is very much the leader, the leader of the gang. He is. Come on.
  14. I think the issue is over-glorfying a system that isn't working as some noble set of "principles and ideals". Do me a favour.
  15. This is nothing short of sporting insanity.
  16. That's why I said "possession in and of itself" (ie for its own sake) rather than just possession. I don't think the concept of "well if you don't kick the ball for one minute of the match you can't win" is a particularly useful starting point when discussing various tactical approaches professional coaches can take in the world's top league.
  17. It's not counter intuitive. It's just an irrelevant metric. Possession in and of itself does not impact a team winning or, as we've seen, even scoring a goal. It's just propaganda football as a wise man once said. We can very easily finish bottom with magnificent possession stats.
  18. Remind us next time you bawl your eyes out because someone on here calls you a nasty name šŸ˜šŸ’”šŸ˜”šŸ˜„
  19. No one can accuse Nathan Jones of not caring. I actually think he comes across OK, just frustrated. They've had a good start to the season - won their first three so he probably could have brushed that defeat off - 9 from 4 games is fine, they are top 6 - but he clearly can't do that. I hope Charlton go up.
  20. Pochettino didn't "save us from immediate relegation", he steered us into mid table and did a terrific job in the following season. But it's ridiculous to suggest we were heading for definite relegation under Adkins.
  21. Fourth and a play off win is still a fairly low level of success, especially with our goals against column. We did not streak away with the Championship title. There are countless managers who have got promoted from the Championship, I think the hype around Russell Martin's successes a little out of hand, especially in the head of the man himself. In the same way the Adam Armstrong is never going to be a Premier League level striker, it's entirely possible that Russell Martin has a natural level that is below the Premier League.
  22. You don't spend £25m on a goalkeeper to just let the manager lose over and over because of his "principles". He's probably got until fireworks night.
  23. Er, yeah. There is a reason why Kompany got that job, and Koeman got the Barcelona job for that matter. Russell Martin is not a global name. If he finishes bottom and leaves Saints his next job will be Norwich or West Brom or something. Not Bayern Munich.
  24. I think the club know it KWP knows it. If he wanted to sign a new deal he would have this summer. Dibling will know his worth in a few months time, that's for sure.
  25. 63 goals is how many we conceded last season.
