  1. Spoiling your ballot paper is uniquely pointless. If none of the candidates/parties appeal, then either vote tactically or exercise your right not to vote. The only people who are going to see your rage against the system will be the witlessly bored counter who won't even be bothered to have a laugh with the other counters about it. It goes into a pile for spoiled ballots, then locked away in a basement of the town hall, and ultimately burned by a secure disposal company and scattered over south Wales. All without anyone giving a toss. That worked then.
  2. ...and the spelling of "manner".
  3. I think you can still get two. If you know someone with a season ticket, regardless of whether or not they took up their allocation from the first period, call the TO and quote their number (probably with their permission of course!). This is exactly what I did to get a ticket for my wife. Good luck.
  4. What's this to do with the 0271 number?
  5. Just to let you know, I got 3 tickets this morning by dint of me and the lad having gone to MK at home, and quoting my brother-in-laws ST/membership number. He's already had his allocation in the first round, but it seems that the allocation "clock" gets reset, so if you know anyone with a ST, regardless of whether they've taken up their tickets it seems you can get extras. It's probably too late now because you wouldn't get them all together, but maybe it will help someone else.
  6. The survey is worthless. The club has provided no information about where they are proposing to move away fans to. Without knowing that, how can anyone answer any of the questions? I see there is speculation on here about where they are thinking of moving them to, but is any of that informed? Even if it is, the need to read this forum to gain that information is hardly proper consultation is it? If the club want to consult fans, then they need to employ someone to (a) provide us with enough information to answer the questions, and (b) ask the right questions. The worry is that they will in good faith use the information given in the survey to base a decision on, which would compound the mistake many times over. I urge you to complete the survey with "No Opinion" for every question, and in the text box type "NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION PROVIDED" or something similar. Don't let the club make a stupid mistake, and don't let them blame it on you. Because if it goes wrong, you can bet someone will point to this "survey" and say "but it's what you asked for..."
  7. And perhaps without the Sunderland socks from 06-08.
  8. Well done, thanks mate. It wasn't your fault that the best part of 1000 had piled on and made it unwatchable for the last 20 mins! Commentary generally worked fine though.
  9. Luton should be 2 up
  10. Yes, that sounds better - thank you.
  11. Don't think so. Boxing day is on 28th this year, as the day after Xmas day is a Saturday. Confusing isn't it.
  12. I'm not sure the fact that boxing day falls on a bank holiday is a coincidence! Living in Kent it's a relatively short hop around the M25 so I'll be going. Have a look at http://www.footballgroundguide.com/colchester_united/
  13. I think you mean qwerty.
  14. I agree that her contribution is little more than a distraction, but actually I think she's by far the most professional presenter on the show. The main man (don't even know his name), makes Lineker look like Jonathan Ross. He simply reads his links and sets up Claridge with tap ins, without actually contributing anything of value. Claridge would be alright ("22 years a professional") as an occasional pundit, but has a complete lack of charisma for what is effectively a co-presenter and his stuttering nonsense when effectively asked to condemn racism - something like "we just need to move on" was bordering on the offensive. Oh well, at least theres a reason to watch theses days, even if it is with the FF button pressed until 47 mins.
  15. Internet booking not working for the game, even though it's listed. No explanation, just fails. Our online booking system has always been the largest slice of carp imaginable.
  16. This is massively optimistic. Sixteen points if five wins and and draw. That's not five wins and a draw and we'll be in a play-off spot, that's five wins and a draw BETTER than everyone between us and a play-off spot. By the end of next week we'll be a quarter of the way through the season, which means us having any interest after 46 league games is as near impossible as makes no difference. Enjoy your walk.
  17. I believe these issues were raised at the fan's forum, in what was a very public and widely reported event. To not respond and to not be seen to respond to issues raised in such a way would constitute a PR mistake of ludicrous proportions. I have no reason to doubt that the administration will always be as responsive as they have been on this occasion. However - as happy as we all feel about our change in fortunes - I don't think we should be carried away by such small acts of what can't really be described as anything other than basic normal customer service, no matter how much that contrasts with what has gone before. The real test will be when complaints, suggestions and every day queries are dealt with as efficiently and openly members of staff who recognise that they are all SFC employees and as such they all represent the club at all times when they are at work. In my experience, contrary to the assertion, on too many occasions we are not treated as customers at all. There are still many staff who are not able to understand their wider responsibilities beyond the task that they happen to be undertaking at a particular time. No reasonable person would expect every member of staff to be able to resolve every issue to everyone's satisfaction every time, but a basic understanding of how to deal with customers' complaints and queries would go a long way. Oh, and I have no problem with being both a fan and a customer. I'm still here after 40 years, which I think qualifies me as a fan, and I hand over several hundred pounds to the club every year - which makes me a customer.
  18. Sorry Ash - didnt read your problem properly before replying, but same principle. Make sure the link, shortcut or whatever you are using to access the site points at the top level for the forum - http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/index.php and you should be good.
  19. Souns like wheels an Ash may have different problems. wheels: In order for the BBC customisations to "stick" your computer need to bet set to allow Cookies. When you do customisations to the web page, those changes are stored in the cookie, and next time you load the web page it looks for the existence of that cookie and applys your changes to the "standard" BBC home page - the one you're getting every time. It's most likely that you (or someone) has disallowed your computer from storing cookies. Some people think that allowing web sites to create cookies on your computer is a potential invasion of privacy and/or a security risk. It's generally accepted that unless you frequent the darker recesses of the internet, this is not the case. Do other sites recognise you when you access them? Amazon, iGoogle, ebay, play.com etc? If not, it's almost certainly a cookie problem. I'm presuming you using Internet Explorer. Go to Tools - Internet Settings and select the Privacy tab. You could either adjust the slider to allow different levels of cookie access, then test it by making a change to the BBC site, closing IE, then opening it again to see if the change stuck. Alternatively click on Advanced and click the "Override automatic cookie handling" box. Click on both "Accept" radio buttons. If you're not using Internet Explorer, let me know what you are using, but the process is similar for all browsers. Ash: Sounds like you have your start page pointing at a specific historical page on the BBC site. Go into Tools - Internet Options and under the General tab make sure it says simply http://www.bbc.co.uk/ or http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/ for the top level football site or http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm for the top level Saints site (although God knows why you'd want to do that!). The crucial thing is to make sure it's not pointing at a page that contains a specific news item under the top level. Hope some of this makes sense. Don't hesitate to PM me if you want.
  20. I live in Kent and have driven up a couple of times, including last season. Parking is easy, just don't get too ambitious and be prepared for about a 10-15 minute walk.
  21. Adjust.
  22. Happen to agree with that, Orange. I think the whole package was excellent value, but he was tactically suspect at times and made a major error by demoralising the squad post-Christmas by telling them he was going and seeming to generally run out of ideas.
  23. Whilst I agree with those who think this is a good an appointment as we could have hoped for, and that any movement in the right direction is exciting... Looking at his career statistics, and applying them to last year's final League One table, we would have finished on 72 points - just one above our friends Southend and two places short of the play-offs. Presuming the points spread is similar this year, with our -10 we can look forward to finishing 13th. If you weight these figures with a judgment about how intrinsically "good" the sides he's managed are through his time at each of them, you could come up with a conclusion about how successful he is. Unfortunately I don't know the history of Reading, West Ham or Charlton well enough to make that conclusion. However, what's more worrying is that Saints certainly currently have a poor squad. Making an adjustment based on how quickly you thing that squad will become intrinsically "good" (better players, morale, tactics etc.) could lead to a conclusion about the likely outcome by next May. In my opinion, and for what it's worth based on this reasoning, our default position is relegation, and whilst Pardew may be good enough to keep us up, he's going to have to be at least as good as he's been anywhere else to give us a mid-table finish, and quite a lot better to be pushing for promotion. Good luck, Alan.
  24. Also, that's sounds to me more like Micky Adams definitely NOT ruling himself out.
  25. Completely puzzled about the dustbin lid "racist" thing. I work for a London council, and I can assure you that there will be few posters on here who have a more finely tuned racism antenae than me. "Dustbin lid" is ****ney rhyming slang for "kid". Not Yid. Kid. No apolgy needed for that one.
