I bet Athletico Madrid are absolutely cursing their red and white stripes right now 😃

Not much to complain about really! Always like the launch videos 🙂

Switched on after KWP’s chance, witnessed 5 minutes of diabolical ‘football’, swore at the TV, then switched off. We are monumentally awful.

Maybe the “improved experience” is a gentle warming / massaging of the buttocks whilst sat down 🤔 -
Interesting set of responses, hadn't considered a negative result being our most important but a fair shout. I'm stunned frankly than no-ones mentioned the win over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup!
-
Appreciate we still have 1 game left, and that a win could be really important in terms of prize money / ending on a high, but what do you rank as our most important result this season? For me it's a toss-up between: 1. Newcastle at home - For the obvious reason that it saw us top of the Premier League for the first time ever; and 2. Chelsea at home - Gritty performance which put an end to the very real threat of losing 9 games in a row (which could have led to all sorts of 999 jokes). Ralph's tears didn't convince me that a win against the very average bin dippers was worthy of inclusion.

Just seen the highlights and reckon we did ok to be honest against a decent side. It was one of those games that could easily have ended with a positive result but for a few small details. McCarthy was a right mixed-bag though! Nice to see fans back in the ground.

This! Sounds like he's been really positive for us off the pitch and I for one am really pleased with this. A lot of our success in the 80's was built on having great / experienced players around. You do wonder if that helped the conveyor belt of youth that emerged in the early 90's.

Crooks is such a twat!

The Adams disallowed goal against Man U royally pissed me off. I just knew a 9-0 was on the cards and when it got ruled out the inevitable continued to unfold. Fucking outrageous decision.

I guess as a player, he'd have to weigh up the risk of being 'trapped' with the increase in salary. Like VVD, I suspect his wages are currently 'modest' so it's not inconceivable that even we could provide a notable, but sustainable, uplift that recognises his potential and maximises our investment.

I f’ing hate VAR even though it was right by an inch. Leicester fans are lucky buggers, they’ve seen their boys win all the majors trophies in England now. Makes me proper envious, yet also gives me hope at the same time that we’ll win something one day.
-
Well isn’t this just darn nice, two wins in succession and mid-table obscurity. I’ll take that thank you!
-
I'm still hopeful that he'll sign a new deal having weighted up some of the points you've made (and considered how his Liverpool career went, albeit not helped by injury). The thing that would really frustrate me is if we lost him to the likes of West Ham, Wolves or even Newcastle as traditionally I've always seen them at the same level as us (probably naively as I think they all have deeper pockets than us when it comes to wages). I think it will be a close one in the end, but you're right, there are other nuggets out there for us to find. Whatever the outcome, Ings has been a stellar signing and we'll at least get our money back if sold this summer having reaped the dividends of the last 2-3 years.
-
The prize money we get from every additional position Ings earns us should be ploughed straight into his contract offer! 🙂
-
VAR screwing us even when we’re not playing. Definite red and 1 game ban!
-
You missed out fish fiddling.

As above, this season can just do one now so we can all forget about things and hope that hard work is taking place behind the scenes to correct things.

Another cracking effort from Garth Crooks this week, praising Saints for their performance, but then not picking any of our players and (of course) putting Evans in simply because he scored an easy header. At least he slammed the red card I guess... This was an impressive display by Southampton. It wasn't that long ago the Saints played Leicester at home, had a man sent off and had nine goals put past them. These days this is a very different Southampton. The red card shown to Jannik Vestergaard was so appalling it makes you wonder what the game is coming to. Leicester missed a massive opportunity by not taking advantage of this shocking decision. It took a goal by Jonny Evans, who is in terrific form at the moment, to salvage a point for the Foxes. If Brendan Rodgers does go to Spurs, he could do a lot worse than take Evans with him. I did laugh at the "this is a very different Southampton bit". I think most of us would say we're very similar up until Friday night!
-
Never heard of him or seen him play. Just kidding, but was merely asking if I’d missed some kind of vote or if he and Henry had been specially selected (both for good reason).
-
This reminds me of the ultimately futile Newcastle home game last year. We did a half decent job of shutting shop after a red, but then threw away a point at the end. Much better than some of our other efforts though!
-
There's this guy I know, think his name is Carillio or something...
-
Plenty of them, can think of Oldham away and Swindon at home (both in 93) and Norwich away (94) off the top of my head.
-
Am assuming I've not missed it, but Ryan Giggs isn't on the list and I guess that's because of his current circumstances (surely he would be on there otherwise)? If true then this isn't just about football. I personally think that's ok, as personal conduct is important to people in many walks of life. That said, there's a massive difference between (alleged) criminal activity and some controversial opinion posted on Twitter. It's personal preference at the end of the day, but I really hope all Saints fans get behind MLT and put a vote in for him to recognise the incredible contribution he made towards us in those early Premier League years. We could be a very different looking club now if it wasn't for him! I've been shot down for saying this before, but I value MLT's legacy as greater than any trophy we could have won over the years so him getting in would be fantastic for the club and the fans. Get those votes in!
-
Shearer for sure for his goalscoring record. Can't argue too much with Henry I guess but I personally don't rate him higher than MLT 🙂
