  1. Time for others to step up. The signing of Theo seems a masterstroke now as I think he can do a job with Adams up front.
  2. I don't have detailed info on how often Ings is taken off towards the end of games, but surely the other forced substitutions yesterday would have influenced not taking him off in this particular match? I think a general rule is that you tend not to use your third and final sub until a bit later than the 85th minute?
  3. My initial reaction was that this probably wasn't a serious injury, but good to hear some reasonably positive news to that effect. The fact that the Newcastle game is even being mentioned for Danny is extremely positive as I'm sure most of us would have taken missing only that in a heartbeat. The cynic in me would then also be glad that he's nowhere near the England squad (which I would hope would be the case if Saints play this smart).
  4. Well I’m happy even if no one else is! WE’RE 3RD!!!!! 🙂
  5. What the hell will be the score when we play Liverpool? About 20-5 to us I reckon 🙂
  6. I have a lot of faith in this team. That said, I saw the half time score then didn’t look again until full time. Of all the possible end scores, I didn’t once think of 2-0 still. That made me happier than something like a 3-1 or 4-2 🙂
  7. Let’s hope he doesn’t suffer any adverse symptoms and can continue to keep his fitness over the coming days 👍🏻

  9. Sounds like a first class display today. I’m especially pleased for Romeu, who I’ve always rated. I said 2 weeks ago (when there was a lot of bed wetting going on) that I wasn’t going to pass judgment until we were a few more weeks in. I’ll just say I glad I did because we’re looking half decent from where I’m sat 🙂
  10. Ings on target for 56 goals this season according to my maths 🙂
  11. I made a promise to myself not to make any negative comments about our start to the season until the end of September. I’m very pleased I have good self-discipline 🙂
  12. We can't send them down. Even if we smashed them, they could still stay up if they beat Everton on the final day and Watford lose their last 2 games to Man City and Arsenal (which is quite likely you would think). I think I'd rather be in Bournemouth's shoes than Watfords to be honest, even if they were to lose to us tomorrow!
  13. I remember watching Jordy Clasie making his home debut for us in a European qualifier. He was absolutely hopeless and a complete lightweight.
  14. The phantom goal! Couldn't believe that when it happened!
  15. I'd never put Austin near the top of the list, he may have been a bit of a prat but he was a bargain and scored some really important goals. I guarantee you, if I ever found myself playing for Saints, I'd give 150% effort, but would still make the top of this list as I would be ruthlessly exposed for the **** player that I am :-)
  16. Surely The Dell had the shallowest goal nets and wonkiest stand in British football? I think the Milton Road end was about 7 seats deep at one end and about 50 at the other.
  17. I think when you take expectation, opposition, end result and legacy into account, the winner by a country mile is Carrillo. Nothing personal against him, but his signing remains an absolute disgrace and one that we still haven't recovered from 2 years later.
  18. Haha, you're right so I'll rephrase... There goes any hope we had for a storming summer transfer window!
  19. So there goes the plan for a storming summer transfer window!
  20. I only get to see 1 home game a season and today was it. I have to say that I had a great time despite the result, and really enjoyed the 10-15 minute long mocking of the Skates during the 2nd half. I thought our fans were terrific today but genuinely wish the club would do everything possible to move the away end (I know the reasons why not though). Performance-wise, only the flurry of wonder saves from McCarthy kept us in it before the red card. We were all dumbfounded by it at the time, but it sounds like the correct call. I was totally gutted for Moussa and hope that this doesn't set him back as I see a lot of potential there. At half time I was confident that a fully-deserved defeat was inevitable. Fair play though, 2nd half we really rallied and I feel we did genuinely deserve to get a point for that effort, but just knew a goal was going to come out of the blue. It was a really bad error by Valery, but he's still young and hope he learns from this. This was my first ever VAR game and I have to say that I'm not a fan at all. The spontaneous nature of the game is being sucked away and every reaction you make is a little inhibited as you mentally think "is this going to be ruled irrelevant in a minute". That's a very dangerous thing to do as it's why I personally love football. Overall, a disappointing result but I'm personally happy that safety appears almost certain and think we will progress next season.
  21. Why? Great support today.
  22. So, it turns out you can be on the beach in February. Underwhelming to say the least.
  23. Haha well that puts my theory to bed then
