Now I seem to remember some older 'saints fans' telling me a story, and being very proud of it, about Neil McNab just after his dad died. He went to take a throw in and under east stand sang 'Neil McNab, got no dad, Neil McNab got no dad'. So I would say idiots are among all fans old and young.

If Maynard knocks in a few goals, puts himself about a bit, and Wigan do go down, what's to say another premier league club will not come in for him? Also 3 months in the premier league is fantastic experience for him. We can buy him in the summer when we go the other way :-)

Leeds have lots of pace and we took them apart. We are 2nd in the league, so have been doing something right, but cannot seem to get that swagger back at the moment. Confidence is an amazing thing!

Football is fun, because it has it's ups and downs. It is a roller coaster, and this is the reason I love it! You cannot win all the time.

I am so glad that this board only speaks for a very small percentage of Saints fan, as some on here really need to take a long hard look at themselves, and get a grip! What a fantastic couple of years it has been, with a cup final and promotion. The promotion coming in the season that Marcus sadly passed away, and now sat in second place. NC policy and stance has never changed, he will not break the bank, and will try to balance the books, and rightly so. He will not be held to ransom. Perhaps the Saints fans need to take a look at themselves and if we got 30k through the turnstiles we would have more of a budget to spend on players. Again, I am still proud to be a Saints fan, and very happy with the job the NA and NC are doing at the club. We are still way ahead of the 5 year plan, and over achieving at the moment in 2nd. Give it a chance lads and it will come together again soon.

Spot on again Daren. It is hard to find players that will improve the team and competition for places. These players are with clubs who want to keep hold of them at all costs, and the only way to prize them away is with an over value bid, and this is not a road I believe we should go down. Do supporters forget the state we got into a few years back, and the state those down the road are in. Football clubs like any other business and personal finances need to live in their means. Do NOT break the bank! NC is doing a great job, and is still well within his 5 year plan with 2 years to spare. Would another season in this league be so bad?

This is 100% spot on. We have had a great season so far, and do not think we did much wrong in the summer, but in this window it was clear we needed to act fast. Today like the Reading away game Leicester got at us, and in our face, and we could not settle. On the back of this I still think we will sign a couple more players, but maybe not the main ones we were after, but just how much over the odds do we pay for the maynards, hoopers, and Sharp of this world. Do we gamble and break the bank, when it might not pay off. We also do not want to buy for the sake of buying if they are not up to the tankard we already have.

Never ever boo you own team FFS! Let alone a team that is second in the table, do you really think this is going to help? What is wrong with our fans? Liverpool fans do not boo their team and they are terrible at the moment.... Stick behind the team. I heard Chelsea and Arsenal fans doing the same over recent weeks! It is not panto FFS!! Do not think it is the manager, he would have identified targets. Then he with permission of the chairman make bids for the players. These will be turned down or accepted, like hooper. Then when they ask to much, we stop bidding, again in the case of hooper. There is not that much out there that is better than what we have got, for the money we are willing or can afford to spend.
