  1. My preference would definitely have been Potter - who has experience of both - but looks like that’s a non-starter (though heard from Brighton mate’s he was keen - possibly dependent upon staying up though). Martin is a gamble no doubt, but there is at least some logic behind the appointment, unlike Jones.
  2. I think I read he didn’t win any of his first 9 Swansea games (Thomas Frank suffered the same start at Brentford). He has to get off to a better start than that or the natives will get very restless (given recent experience, understandably so). Possibly going to take a while ti bed in his preferred tactics. Some new recruits who already ‘get it’ would be useful.
  3. I’m really starting to think that Theo might be worth a one year contract. He still has pace, has bags of experience and could help some of the youngsters adjust to the Championship. Perhaps could even transition to a player-coach role and become part of the coaching set-up?
  4. No idea why they’d appoint Martin this week. Makes no sense to associate him with this season (also a bad omen given Jones started with Liverpool!). New manager, new players, fresh start. Let Selles see this one out and carry the burden of the Liverpool game.
  5. He is experienced in the Championship though. From what I’ve seen/read on here I’m warming to him…
  6. Nails it as ever. The Semmens one is a killer…
  7. Don’t think anyone wants to build the team around him - more a case of at least trying to play in a way that can utilise him when he gets minutes. Will be interesting to see whether they persist with him or cut their losses…
  8. Though how many were ‘effective crosses’? (i.e. got to their intended target area). PO was only on for the last 25 mins in that game wasn’t he? By which time Brentford were in total control.
  9. Rasmus Ankersen fancy dress…? 😈
  10. That sounds like Selles’ fault, not Paul’s!
  11. Totally. And predictably. Which is why I hope Tino doesn’t show his face this season!
  12. Alcaraz has already indicated he’ll stay even if relegated. Time will tell I guess, but I hope he does.
  13. Not that much actually. Or at least not as much as I had imagined. Partly due to the fact that I accepted it quite a few games ago, so have braced myself, along with a combination of accepting that we ARE the worst team in the league and disillusionment with the PL generally (and due to that thinking some time out of it may be no bad thing). What really does boil my piss is the reason we are the worst team in the league, despite having a half decent core of players. Board incompetence. But that’s for another thread…
  14. Good read. Have to say I can’t see Tella staying with us though. Hopefully Smallbone & Stephens more likely to return.
  15. I’d definitely add Alfie House to that list. All very good young writers, and Jacob is a definite step up from the previous Athletic correspondent. Glad that he is staying ‘with us’ next season and hope that Alfie does too.
  16. Agree. Like Brentford without Rasmus, Luton have done better since Jones departed.
  17. Probably put this in the wrong thread..
  18. The Leeds Utd Supporters Advisory Board issued this statement tonight. Doubt it will do much but at least officially registers their discontent. Their season - and Board - is nowhere near as bad as ours. Maybe we need something like it? Leeds supporters issue 'no confidence' statement FT: Bournemouth 4-1 Leeds United The Leeds United Supporters Advisory Board have just released the following statement after their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth: "After the result and performance of the team today, the Leeds United Supporters Advisory Board (SAB) would like to place on record its lack of faith in the current management team at the club. "The SAB have been supportive of many decisions this year and will always work with the club to improve the way the club connects with its supporters and communities, so it is only right that we also address the current performances and the situation we are now faced with. "Leeds United fans have, and will always, support our club through its ‘ups and downs’, but with four games left this situation is no longer sustainable. "The narrow escape from relegation last season should have been the catalyst for a season of growth but this season has now turned into a humiliating disaster. "The appointment of Jesse Marsch, a style of play so different from that of Marcelo Bielsa, the sacking of Marcsh after the transfer window had closed, the hiring of a of a fifth-choice manager, the purchase of a £35m striker who has played hardly any minutes in a relegation dogfight, the costly and embarrassing mistakes made in the Jean Kevin Augustin case… there have been far too many questionable decisions and people must be made accountable. "The players must also take responsibility for their abject performances and lack of professional pride since half time against Crystal Palace. To pull on that famous white shirt is something that us fans can only dream of, yet it seems that some of the squad don’t have the fight for this battle. "We are therefore asking for immediate changes to be made to the first team coach and to those responsible for the recruitment of the managers and players who have been brought in over the last 14 months. "We would like to place on record our thanks and gratitude to the many staff, at both Thorp Arch and Elland Road, who worked tirelessly to make Leeds United a club that all of those who support it can be proud of. "The Supporters Advisory Board are due to meet with the club this coming week and hope that they are able to respond to this statement before the meeting takes place."
  19. Did anyone witness a confrontation between a fan and Toby Steele tonight at the final whistle?
  20. That’s the irony. The good ones go, the shit ones stay with us - and are likely okay EFL standard.
  21. So turns out Pep cosplay and 5-dimensional chess aren’t enough. Who knew? 🤷‍♂️
  22. If it makes them play like him, I’m all for it! Not sure it was quite a mullet, more an unkempt prog-rock type style…
  23. Because ‘Pep cosplay’ doesn’t = Pep. Strange that.
  24. At one point in the first half Theo received the ball on the left side of the box, with his back to goal. Yes, he had 2 defenders behind him, but he just didn’t know what to and they robbed him easily. Me and my mate both said, ‘imagine Ings getting that ball, he’d have shielded it, turned and would have found a way to get a shot away’. Semmen’s smug “no brainer” in selling him (and not replacing) was ultimately the act that sealed our fate.
  25. Yes, also remember “playing a striker doesn’t make any difference”. Wonder if Kane, Haaland and Salah have been told this too? 6-0.
