  1. Would make sense for him to go to Reading or Watford, given both have "lost" Tommy Smith... Let's hope we get a decent fee for him, and buy someone more appropriate for the division pronto.
  2. Has taken full control of PFC, assured all debts. Storrie not involved in takeover. Sorry, not Saints related, but interesting nonetheless. Presumably why they've been able to start buying players.
  3. Sounded like a much more promising performance - and let's not forget we were up against a Premier League team. A disappointing result, given we were in front, but things are still moving in the right direction. Such a shame about Murty - hopefully not long term, but not looking good. Also, 3rd highest gate of the night, behind West Ham and Leeds. Would it be rude to mention we also got almost 5k more than the Blue Few down the road too...?!
  4. It is, but it is only TEMPORARY. AP is trying to build a team with limited time to do so, and while the season is on (not his fault, not the new boards fault). He is also trying to get the best out of those young players here last year and subjected to L***'s ridiculous experiment - as many of us said at the time, their confidence could be seriuosly damaged by throwing them into the first team, and so it has proved. AP has to try and rectify that. So, YES it is frustrating. YES, we want to get wins on the board ASAP. But let's all give Alan Pardew and his team all the support they need - little point b*tching about things when everyone is at last starting to do the right things. It just needs time, and togetherness as a club. This season is clearly going to be about getting to mid-table mediocrity, nothing more, so let's support Alan as he tries to breathe life into the dying remnants of a team that he inherited.
  5. Actually, Ormerod would be a good shout in this Division - is he still getting a game for Preston?
  6. Did you see us last season?? Pardew signings bedded in, we'll be fine. As they used to say in Dad's Army - "Don't Panic!".
  7. Classic. Had to watch the Pompey one too - interesting that their reserve goalie was a dog, if David James moves, they might need to call up one of his descendents...
  8. Was it? The Hoddle sacking? Yes, you're right now I think about it. Oh well... two good memories must have blurred into one...
  9. DANGER! DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!!! Great little montage at the end of the match as I remember... (and of course, Hoddle got sacked after).
  10. Just watched that Man Utd game again - you always remember the disallowed Keegan overhead kick 'goal', but how great to see that wonderful Armstrong finish for the winner. Vividly remember watching that from must behind the Milton Rd. goal. Blissful.
  11. Let's not get over emotional - Pardew has only been here 5 minutes, once he gets the players in he wants, and has us working his way, we'll be fine.
  12. Poor result, but it ensures AP knows what he's up against (if he doesn't already!) and Cortese/Libeherr will know that getting new players in in the next 2 weeks is critical. We have however played two of the favoured teams in this division - doesn't excuse only picking up 1 point, but we will play worse teams than Millwall and Huddersfield, and can only improve. COYS.
  13. Maybe his age? - but agree, it does seem low to me too. Sure Pards will cut a decent deal if it does go through. Swansea were reportedly interested too, so that might drive the fee up.
  14. Very funny! LOL.
  15. It was all a ridiculous, ridiculous folly, and was clearly not going to work - although sadly those in charge of the club refused to see that. Nice to hear some detail from JP though. Just another catastrophe from L*** - let's put it behind us now and move on. At last we have sensible ownership, sensible guys running the club, and a sensible manager - all very 'against the grain' for Saints, but let's enjoy it!
  16. Reading making a £500k bid today according to The Mail.
  17. Always guaranteed to get a result that one... ... the ball in the back of our net.
  18. I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. We're not quite ready yet, and whatever their state, Pompey ARE a Premiership side. Pompey is the last draw I'd want - rather wait to meet them next year in the league, when we're on more of an even footing...
  19. About the 3rd of 4th retraction I've seen. Clearly keeping himself busy...
  20. Probably Mme Cortese.
  21. Thank God! It was so much better than The Championship - ITV just cannot do sport, no matter how much money they throw at it (not that any was thrown at The Championship of course!). Could do without the bird and the text messages, but other than that thought it was a really well put together show - footage was so much more professional than ITV too.

No change there then! At least this one has money...

Interesting debate on one of their message boards... http://fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=168588
  24. Strange that you're patting yourself on the back for lauding a "strategy" that went catastrophically t*ts-up! The only reason we're out the other end is because ML came in and saved us after L*** experimental disaster hit ground, as we all anticipated. You are right though that other clubs might have to go through what we have been through, possibly in the Prem, possibly not too far from us...
