  1. I doubt if any of us would be so irate if it hadn't have been for the fact that they completely ignored the shocking goings on down the road and concentrated on a club bought by one man, in cash, who then tragically died and left the club in the hands of the estate... Now that's shocking journalism if you concentrate more on Saints than Pompey when it comes to dodgy owners....
  2. That's not what people are saying, they're saying there is a pathological problem that stops people from supporting another team. Supporting a football club is different to shopping cheaper. You can change Tesco's for Aldis but you can't change your football team.
  3. Just out of interest, what choice do football fans have?? You can't afford to go to Saints, do you support another club? No, you trim elsewhere... Football is different to another consumer activity, you can't go elsewhere... You either go or you don't...
  4. I think we're all being a bit pedantic with this spine malarky, Delldays is right in so much as theose players he's mentioned are as good as any players in the Championship. What we should be saying is that the wings are probably the strongest points of the team which actually makes his original point even stronger. I've thought this all along, that we are already a mid table Championship side...
  5. Well there is that, but then there's always the wall away factor... Season ticket holders pay for games regardless, if fans don't have a season ticket and something pops up they won't go and that money's lost... Money's money and I'd rather the club had the money and an empty seat...
  6. FFS, it really annoys me that people over look the ability of a team to get results. Yes this side is a League One outfit but I believe we were a mid table Championship side last season. People forget we beat Blackpool (albeit a reserve team but a Premier League reserve team) and took Man Utd to the wire. one or two quality signings and I think we'll be contesting for palyoff place..
  7. Just a quick note that if anyone fancies submitting an article then pm me on here within the next two weeks or so....
  8. Balcony... One litre of vodka, one litre of Bacardi, one litre of whiskey, one litre of brandy... Free wifi... Happy days...
  9. I did do the Hugh Jardon column... And I did the cartoons along with Neil Gange...
  10. I haven't really looked at subscriptions as I pretty much ****ed that up last time! Might do something or might do an issue by issue paypal thingy...
  11. Agree totally, am really pleased to have him on board and think he'll provide some really good stuff. Maligned on by some here but a top, top man who I have nothing but good things to say about...
  12. £2 a copy. 60 pages

  14. Bugger! I knew I had comeone I HAD to Facebook! Sorry mate! FB message is in the post!
  15. After a lot of thought I've decided to ressurect Beautiful South and aim to get the fanzine ready for the first game of the season. Hopefully we've got Duncan Holley, Mike Osman, Herbie Taylor, Neil Gosney, Scott Griffin, Steve Grant, Robbie Chandler and myself at the mo... and maybe, if I'm lucky, an occasional article from David Bull. Obviously I'm looking for potential writers but I'm also looking for sellers. The deal is sell 50 fanzines, get £25. I don't care if people sell outside the ground, or sell on their street corner or at their local pub. You get a box of 50 and you'll get £25 for each box you sell... which is pretty much the cost of a matchday ticket.... so if could be worth people's time as I'm aiming for 10 issues a year. PM me on here if youi're intersted in writing or selling.
  16. As long as an option is in place to spread the cost then there's no complaints. We want success then we have to pay for it, simple. If we don't then we're going to end up like Pompey. We've had time to save up, I haven't as I've had a house to renovate, but the option to pay in installments is all we can ask for.. We've been living beyond our means these last two seasons, we can't look and s****** at Pompey if we're losing money ourselves. Success costs... unfortunately and if we want more expensive players we can't be relying on a rich benefactor. We HAVE to be a viable, balanced football club..
  17. The same Adams who took Sheffield United down? There's no point debating Pearson's tenure at Southampton as he was barely here long enough to stamp his own authority on to anything. We have to look at work done with clubs of a similar size, ie Leicester and Hull, over the longer time period... Pretty impressive methinks...
  18. Disagree. Pearson inherited a very poor squad from Burley, very average players on good money (for the Championship), a rudderless ship going down rapidly. He brought in a few loanees, Richard Wright for one, Chris Lucketi and Chris Perry two others and we looked as if we might get the right balance between experience and youth... Far too many people writing off his times at Leicester and Hull, Pearson's a good Championship manager and we made mistake in letting him go...
  19. No one seems to have mentioned it on this thread but to employ two Dutchmen with absolutely no experience of English football whatsoever to get the club promoted was sheer lunacy. If you were to ask any football fan this right now, what reply would you get? How on earth was this sold to us? "Ok, we're going to ditch a British manager who has experience of lower league football and replace him with two Dutch guys with no experience of even English football and get them playing football based on the Ajax model... in the championship..." I'd hazard a guess and say even the most reasonably minded Saints fan would say you were barking...
  20. Exactly, I wonder if some forum members would want any of their conversations repeated on a message board? It just seems some people on here don't like Mike and will gleefully jump on any thread about him to aim their views...
  21. Very good point there, after those two Birmingham games i seriously thought we'd be contenders that season. Sadly we never had a plan b, other clubs sussed us out rather quickly and we got found out but we do tend to forget that early on we did play some cracking football with the Dutch duo....
  22. Erm.. No I didn't... I used the old analogy of "First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me." when people on here started slagging off posters who were critical of some of the things Cortese had done. There was far too much of the "Well it doesn't affect me so why should I care?" about some of the posters on here at that time.. You'll find it was Alpine who ran off squealing that I'd compared Cortese to Hitler. For Smirking Saint to say "If Hitler was a saints fan would that make him ok " is just farcical...
  23. It makes you wonder what his fiercest critics did during the financial crisis then? Should the stewards work for free? The shop workers? Hell, why not the players too? There seems to be far too much Osman bashing on here, mostly from people who sit back, do nothing when the club's in trouble and then ask "Why's no one doing anything?"
  24. You're comparing Mike Osman to Hitler... ffs..
  25. That was one thing that really ****ed me off about Redknapp, the way he made Woodward look like a kook and some new age weirdo... I was genuinely excited by the new science that Woodward was looking to bring to the club. What's interesting is seeing how people react to the same science but when it's championed by someone like Adkins... A football man.
