Phwoar.

Truly beautiful place. Spent a fair bit of time there. Tinged with a few less good memories now, but still somewhere I'll go back at some point. I've been around a fair bit of Europe, including Scandinavian places and Eastern Europe, but for some reason I've never managed to go to Italy at all (though I thihk I'd love it) or outside this continent.

I was genuinely thinking I shouldn't have been there earlier, but actually my wound seemed much better than expected and I didn't notice it too much. Pretty rusty at first after 3 or 4 weeks with only one period of football, but got into it in the end. Glad I came, pretty good game. It's very odd, though. It's always been the same - when I got there, my team seemed to be under the cosh always. Towards the second half, it was the other way around. I gues it's got to do with people's fitness, perhaps, but both teams end up with goal hangers and it gets disjointed at different times.

Unless there are underlying reasons for you doing it, surely a good way would be to NOT take breaks? PAce yourself a bit more but carry on for the whole game?

Well, at the end of the day, he'll be remembered as a club legend. Hopefully the fans will remember him as a keeper rather than as a manager. Still, if you are going to get a push rather than a shove, you might as well get a record defeat - you know, go out with a bang.

Sorry lads, would have tagged along, but can't actually justify playing today at all, in all honesty. meant to train Wednesday night so need to be sensible. Would have come along anyway and been in goal, or taken some photos, or something, but have been guilt-tripped into helping with a van conversion instead. Soz. Hopefully next week will be back.

I did have a word with the duty manager hamster, not so mucha bout the cut, because I couldn't be bothered to prove it was anything negligent (these things happen, right.. and I don't buy into litigation culture), but because the way the blood was dealt with (ie not at all properly) was outrageous. I'm pretty aware of blood regs, and these people (at least the employee dealing with it) didn't. As it happens, I was at the pool in a work capacity (as odd as that sounds), so I was able to make a sort of professional level challenge about it, which helped.

Mike, I did it in a swimming pool, oddly. Something sharp on a wall sliced a large section into my foot, and caused much hilarity / panic in some quarters when I got out and left a trail then huge pool of blood after me. It's not very clever, I think I might be able to bind it up loads but to be honest, I really should leave it. It's painful to walk on properly, so... yeah.
