  1. OK, so not a brilliant race at the front. Rossi won his 100th Grand Prix at a relative canter, as Lorenzo got baulked by the bit of traffic that was Edwards and Stoner. For a while he was catching up, but Vale responded. The first 5 placings were spread out, but the real race was for 6th, with JT winning it from a bunch including Elias, Capirossi, Hayden, Kallio and De Puniet. They were swapping places time and time again, lap after lap. It was better that the director concentrated on them, once Lorenzo had decided 2nd place was better than binning it. Once again, Pedrosa fell off, but so did his teammate Dovizioso, meaning no factory Hondas finished. So it's over a year since they last won a race, and Honda have never made a properly slow bike. Maybe that's a turning point. In the 125cc race it was business as usual. Positions swapping left, right and centre. Bradley Smith led from the first lap, but then got swallowed up at 5th. The front trio, including Julian [one lap less] Simon, got away. But eventually Smith got past 4th man Iannone, and on completion, 2nd place Tirol was docked 20 seconds for a dangerous move, and Smith was placed 3rd. That leaves him in a very good position in the Championship, just behind Simon. The 250cc race was a cracker, but without British interest [OK, we had a wild card entry at the back], the enthusiasm was all about the close action. Simoncelli had to win, but came in 3rd; pre-race Championship leader Bautista, spectacularly ran into the back of race winner Aoyama, who now leads the Championship himself. That's a shame. Next week Laguna Seca..!
  2. A couple of good races this morning in the 125cc and 250cc races, but now for the big one. Move over Wimbledon.
  3. Yes you have.
  4. From your pics which wouldn't work, because you have to be a member of the Scuderia Thingy Forum, I found a kit car that's a bit of fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=cOxHV6QfJkg&pop_ads=null
  5. As I am still able to pick my working hours, I was able to tune into the BBC Red Button, the fount of all action TV. I wish they wouldn't keep referring to it though as something special. It's only channel 301 or 302 on Freeview. Anyway, I digress. First the good news. JT made 9th in qualifying, so it seems he might be getting the hang of the Yamaha R1 at last. His estranged teammate [they don't share data], Colin Edwards made 5th though. So you could say that it's only qualified good news; but I wouldn't. The bad news for fans of Nicky Hayden is that he's still back in 13th spot on the Ducati, while teammate Stoner was 4th [and that's slow for Casey]. So the usual suspects did the job, plus Pedrosa, who is coming back into form after injury. I expect JT and Stoner to do better than their qualification rank, and expect Pedrosa and Edwards to do worse. And there will be the usual presence of Caparossi and Dovizioso somewhere in the mix. It looks like it might be fast and entertaining, because there's bugger all time between them in race trim. And there's a 60% chance of rain..! 1. V. ROSSI. ITA. Fiat Yamaha Team. 1'36.025 2. D. 6. Just to bump this thread, I've been watching the dear old Onedin Line again, having got hold of series 3 and 4, and series 5 is now available [must get around to that]. It's great stuff too, from the golden era of TV drama.
  7. How many more conventional power stations are they building..?
  8. I wish I could report that this has stopped the continuning pathetic hysteria that surrounds the Saints takeover on the main forum. But it hasn't.
  9. Absolutely, totally agree. But I don't think it's a subject for joking around either. It's said that Jackson was abused as a child, and it would be no surprise that he might have passed that behaviour on. But he might not have too. And I'm entirely familiar with the phrase... where's there's smoke.. It appears he might have had some quite lonely and sad moments in his life, but other people have had far worse lives. It's all relative. Being the media icon he has been, there's no doubt people will be bringing out the sad jokes, just as the media will be bringing out the sad violins. Before they wring the last drops out of this story, I'm sure many people, me included, will be well and truly sick of it. But I'm sad for the person too.
  10. Not a fan myself, nor even an admirer of his music. But there's no doubt he made a huge contribution to pop music, in his own way. What else he got involved in is celebrity, and for me, of absolutely zero interest.
  11. Go to TMS benjii.
  12. No jokes people, please.
  13. Here's an excellent reason for starting a new thread. It's not a takeover, it's another MotoGP weekend, and a resumption of the race for the title. Assen is traditionally one of the best races, and it's a favourite circuit with the riders. After 6 rounds, 3 riders are on 106 points. It's unheard of, as the points awarding system in MotoGP is so extensive, going right back to 15th place. But Rossi, Lorenzo and Casey Stoner are equal, and tomorrow [yes, tomorrow] qualification is run. As usual with MotoGP, it's not essential to get pole position, but it is a good indicator. At Catalunya, after an astonishing race Lorenzo said hasta la proxima - until next time. Can't wait. 14. I'm beginning to get a a little p!ssed off myself. Not with Pinnacle, or with other potential bidders, but with the smart-arsed posters on here. You know who you are. You find an angle and exploit it. What is the matter with you..? Are you so committed to finding fault that all you can do is criticise..? What does it gain you other than being right if what you say comes true..? Will you be equally forthright in saying you were wrong if a takeover goes through..? For pete's sake, go and take up another hobby until the new season. It'll save me the trouble of reading this twaddle.
  15. It's nothing new. When I was in primary/secondary education in the 60's and 70's, my schools would write to my parents suggesting it might be a good idea if they paid for this trip, or that optional extra. My father just said, no, can't afford it. End of story. You don't have to shell out the money. Nobody is ordering you to. Be selective. EDIT: Think twice about having the next kid, eh..?
  16. Milan Mandaric did rather well out of Pompey, and is going the same way with Leicester City. It's worth a go with the right club, and Saints have all the costly infrastructure in place.
  17. Now there's the surprise of the century..! :smt015
  18. Yes indeed. Come on people, please be patient. Let Pinnacle do what they need to do. Get off this forum for a couple of days, and come back refreshed. You know it makes sense.
  19. If you remember, we've already done that. We staged BB on the interrnet. Not TSW, but SF did it a few years back during the close season. It got national newspaper coverage.
  20. I haven't heard breasts being referred to as norks for years. Nearly spat my beer over the monitor. Very loud lol.
  21. You and Dan Quayle eh..?
  22. How's about that then..? Can I just say that I'm not going to be with my ISP for very much longer. But at least they're best at something. EDIT: WSS must be on dial up or ISDN..!
  23. I've often thought, with each new kit change, that Newcastle have always had the potential to come up with a lousy looking kit. B/W stripes is just a poor base for any kit. Tbh, I reckon the ice cream look is an improvement.
  24. Really..? So Cromwell left them until last to rub their noses in the cow dung. You learn something new every day. There's also a bit of sailing fact/trivia pertaining to the channel islands, which at this moment escapes me. Is it worth me mentioning that the German army occupied them as the only bit of British territory during WWII, or is that too much like common knowledge nowadays..?
  25. Tbh, the mystery owner could leave his anonymity completely intact forever and it would hardly matter a jot. All this new thread this and new thread that; post and counterpost from members of this forum just prove that they can't sit still for 5 minutes. Just rip out your broadband connection and bugger off until it's all sorted. You'll probably feel all the better for it.
