Aha, I never succumbed to that old scam. I still have getting on for 500 vinyl albums, about 30 bought CDs, one DiVX/DVD/CD player and one portable of the same, but FOUR analogue TURNTABLES.
One is a Linn Sondek, another is a Thorens TD160 MkII, and another a Pioneer PL12D in the cupboard for the day when someone desparately wants to play some vinyl, and the last one is a Goldring Lenco GL75 that I saw at a tip, that had been dropped into a skip. The owner obviously thought it was sh!te, but was entirely mistaken. The plinth and lid were broken, but I rescued it anyway. I paid 2 quid for it and gave it some TLC which cost me practically nothing, but my old expertise in the old turntable technology.
And now it's paying me back beautifully by playing Cross Eyed Mary [yeah, I turned the side over] excellently, right now.
