To be perfectly blunt, she would be no different. Why should she be? Being raped is a horrible situation but it doesn't entitle her to a free ride for 18 years. If she is still "ill" from the anguish etc of the rape then that is another matter, but even that can't last forever. Making a connection between feeling sorry for someone and subsequently offering them a free ride through life is a very dangerous precedent to set, and sadly we have already done it. It is time to change direction. We have good honest and hard working people in this country that are coming up to retirement or already have and there is less money in the pot for them as our taxes are going on the lazy who just don't want to work.

I honestly believe that my idea would make this the last generation of "unplanned" pregnancies. I seriously think that chav culture, seeing your older sister living with her baby or two in a council flat, paid for by the masses, is exciting to some youngsters. I am not saying the reality is, but when still at home with mum and dad and you see you could be all grown up if you open your legs and get pregnant, then I think it appeals. If you tell a young single mum that she will have to leave her kid with another single mum on her estate while she goes out for 4 hours to clean school toilets to get her money, then she will have to do it. That isn't being harsh on them, it is showing them they have a responsibility to endorse good values on their children for their childrens sakes and for their own.

Benefits should only be there for the sick and ill. There is absolutely no reason on earth why anyone that is fit and healthy needs to be given money for doing nothing. A simple procedure of "clocking in" with litter patrols, council rejuvenation schemes, building nature reserves for children and any number of other social community benefiting ideas is far better. For this, the receiver will be paid a low wage. This will make them realise that money isn't free and that if they look around they can find themselves a job that occupies the same amount of time during the day and pays then more. It really could be as simple as that. People would no longer begrudge them their handout as they would be "earning" it.

A black box thingy that is only opened and the data used in the case of serious crashes or crimes is a good idea. I would rather it was held by an individual body rather than the police though.
