Good game. Bright start, but Everton didn't buckle to the pressure. We're off to a new adventure
-
Great save from Boruc!
-
Was that going over or did we just see the best defensive action of the game by Yoshida.... Ohhh what a miss from Jelavic. Everton going for it right now
-
Excellent from Boruc! Twice!!!
-
Ohhhh such beautiful build-up and Lambert should have buried the header...
-
Maybe a bit too early to see Pochettino's influence, but we seem to be pressing very agressively all over the pitch.... Bielsa's legacy?
-
How did we not score there?!?!?!?!?
-
We're doing rather well tonight. Gaston with a good finish... COYS!!!
-
Much better atmosphere at St. Mary's than I had feared. Bright start from Saints and LOVELY to see Rickie have a go from a free kick!

All our kids are small, blond boys from a cloning facility somewhere - no chance of a JayRod or Lambert successor

The Mirror: 'Tensions over transfers saw Adkins sacked'
Lazlo78 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Well, I think you misread my posting. I wanted to point out that Cortese had set his sights on some big names, but I also wanted to point out, that maybe the article was wrong about those names. For the record, I think the manner and timing of Adkins dismissal is atrocious and I think Cortese is a real nasty piece of work. I also think that he is quite possibly a very competent chairman. So please leave me out of the black/white "with us or against us" discourse that honestly doesn't do anyone much good. Peace and all that -
Should we also hate him a little?

The Mirror: 'Tensions over transfers saw Adkins sacked'
Lazlo78 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Articles with someone called "source" or merely "The Mirror understands that..." should be treated with some caution. However, if the last paragraph is true then NC can't be blamed for not being ambitious enough: Di Matteo and van Maarwijk are relatively big names! -
99% of the users in here have been screaming out for a quality CB and this guy was chased by a lot of top clubs. But obviously nothing really mattes any more, so we might as well send him back...

How long before we all calm down on this forum
Lazlo78 replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
If this had happened a few months ago we'd all be saying that we felt sorry for Adkins but that it was exciting to get a big up and coming manager on board. Now due to the circumstances there appears to be a need to make Pochettino look clueless (post #22 for instance) just because people are angry at Cortese... -

No, not a bereavement - a divorce. Daddy Cortese threw mommy Adkins out and found a Spanish bird instead. Now we're not sure if we should hate the step-mom out of respect and love for mom -
PICTURE: Nigel Adkins' leaving message to Saints squad

Add this to golden threads, so we can look at it on rainy days -
This is your least funny, but at the same time most impressive blog entry to date. I wholeheartedly agree with your observations and interpretations, I share your emotions, and I applaud your solutions. I'm not exaggerating when I say that reading your blog entry made me feel better about things. Thank you.

Welcome aboard Forren - a really good signing, I think, especially Fonte's injury taken into consideration. New manager coming in could shake up things in Forren's favour, whereas under NA I'm sure he would have had to fight his way into the team...
-
Yeah, a welcome for the new manager seems appropriate. Anger is building inside, but Pochettino is just not the right target for it. This thread has helped keeping me sane today so thanks to those contributing... And yes, I'll be delighted when the FLC clubs start fighting to get NA on board - he deserves the best for his honesty and positive approach...
-
I'll get behind the new man. It isn't his fault, and he's the new manager. Absolutely gutted about Adkins, but that's another story... Welcome Mauricio to what I hope will be a long and joyous stay at Saints - regardless that you haven't gotten the best of starts...

RB are you ITK? How could you predict black Friday with such accuracy? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1586899#post1586899

Who knows, but it explains why it was dragging out for a few days...

Bizzare decision - I'm quite shocked. Whether Adkins was the right person to lift us to safety in the PL, I don't know, but I do know that I would have followed Adkins all the way down to League One again if we came upon hard times. The team was inexperienced with the PL, the fans hadn't been in the PL for a long time, so we were in the same boat as Adkins, slowly learning how to cope with PL football. Life goes on, but this really bothers me. Other footy fans have already started their questioning of this decision, so now we're the laughing stock again...

Actually it was nice to see him back and he delivered exactly what you could expect from him. Lots of running, chasing down the ball, giving an outlet in the offense by making himself available for deep runs. Useful and reliable squad player, so it's nice to have him around!
