  1. He's playing for Charlton in the FLC, so he may actually be a decent player...
  2. I doubt Suarez won any new friends tonight...
  3. Why is Jack Cork interviewed about Imants Bleidelis?
  4. Excellent call!
  5. Just read the second link - that gave me the creeps because of the perspective it was written in: an analyst trying to point out our strenghts to prepare for and our weaknesses to exploit . However, it did answer a question I have been asking myself lately: we can probably all see the benefits of the new tactics, but as it isn't a cheat code in a game what is the drawback? Here's his take on it: Defensive Organisation Defensive Transitions Boruc
  6. Looks quite interesting - thanks!
  7. I would assume it works just the other way round when our pressing is unsuccesful. While we press high up the field our defensive line is very high too, which means that heavier players like Jos can't always sit deep and face attackers coming at them - they need to be more mobile, to make longer runs, to work sideways, make quick turns, and make quick decisions further up the field than usual. We gamble more to gain possession and consequently the defenders sometimes have to pick up the pieces with a lot of team mates much further upfield... If that's true then it's even more impressive how Jos has improved. Defenders like Hill, Mertesacker, Dunne, Samba, Huth, Hangeland are all examples of players that IMHO would probably struggle in our tactic - they like to defend with their back to the goal and use their physique to dominate in the air. Pressing high upfield probably isn't on their Christmas wish list...
  8. Pochettino set out a good game plan from the start of the game, his selection reflected on players best suited for tactics, and we got 3 points on the board. Indeed it was another great tactical showing from Pochettino...
  9. I know it's a bit random to ask in this thread, but where do you find solid info on contract lengths of Saints players? I have a general feeling that we have been quite good at extending contracts for key players during the last few transfer windows which may at some point prove to be more important than bringing in new players. Morgan being an example - that is if we actually did make him sign an extension to his contract
  10. Yes, but it has those great exaggerations, so it's ok. "Totally out of his depth", "Can't defend", "Positional play shocking". Really sounds credible, dont you think?

    Artur Boruc

That one from Aguero was real class - would have been an equaliser, right?
  12. Jos is one of the first players I've actually given up on this season (while still believing that de Ridder would come good ), so it's nice to see that he has improved a lot. Sorry Jos, won't happen again, I promise... Time will tell whether he's a starter or a reserve, but I no longer dread to see his name on the team sheet. He adds depth and competition for places as well as an extra tactical dimension due to his height and physique.
  13. Immense performance today! Those we usually rely on did not disappoint, but some of those that have been less confident in the Premiership also did well today - Hooiveld, Richardson, Davis and to some extent Fox (I know he's being criticised - and rightfully so - but he is still part of the team that won today)...
  14. Match fixing at St. Mary's!?
  15. Well done Swansea - now hang on (or even better, put a bigger dent in QPR's GD)...
  16. Good article - thanks for the link.
  17. So Pompey is doing tantric liquidation?!
  18. Trousers, pants and leggings
  19. "The emergence of Harris's alternative bid meant Birch could no longer argue in court there were no offers other than the trust's, and PKF sources also said Harris's terms promised more money for creditors." This has me confused. Does the FL now insist on giving preferred status to PST even if other bids come along that will give more money to the creditors? I know this keeps revolving around PFC and their future, what players they get in on loan, FP and the surrounding land etc., but there are actually a long list of creditors who should be the central interest of all parties... I guess that's not the way of the world... abuse and move on
  20. Keep up - I already told you about the Sæhrímnir Treasure (what you call parachute payments; those money that can be spent again and again)! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A6hr%C3%ADmnir
  21. Classic TSW-style; take an observation (Forren isn't playing), speculate wildly, take speculation for fact, react to speculation. Never mind that the club just bought a player and presumably are trying to get him up to PL speed asap
  22. YES. HA HA. Such DRAMA!
  23. A bit much to conclude from a 5 second highlight, but I can't say I didn't think that myself

    Artur Boruc

I think Boruc looks extremely confident (almost arrogant) but I find his kicking a bit average. It's by no means bad, but IMHO it's just not his prime attribute. Not really a problem as long as he delivers the goods like he has done recently I hope Gazza can improve his overall game for the future, because I thought his distribution looked rather good when he had a run in the team...
