  1. Interesting view of pressing vs. goal threat - I'm inclined to agree with you. I hope Pochettino quickly will find the team that can perform his tactics and still score goals. Also he needs to sell the idea to Ramirez, Lallana and Puncheon that they have to work very hard when not in possession of the ball. We haven't at all the defensive quality to back it up, but it would be interesting to see concepts such as Barca's pressing football the first 6 seconds after losing possession - no matter where on the pitch. The Barca players nearest to the ball goes on a mad hunt to stress and hurry the opponent into making a mistake. Works a treat and gives them possession far up the pitch with the other team in disarray. But as I said initially it needs a perfect organisation further back - that we do not have (yet )... Edit: video of the 6 second thingy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cs0IemkVKs
  2. The lack of activity can be interpreted in several ways - for instance it helps dismiss the claim made by Martin Samuel: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2270311/January-transfer-window-doesnt-work--Martin-Samuel.html "QPR wish to throw money at a problem in order to resolve it, Southampton sacked a perfectly good manager so the new man could make last-minute changes to the squad." As it turns out it was not because of the evil transfer window that Adkins was shown the door - so another theory dismissed...
  3. I'm struggling between two reactions: 1) Aaaargh. Before the game, I'd have accepted a narrow defeat, but seeing how bad they were I wonder when we will ever get such an opportunity for 3 pts at OT 2) Wow. 2nd half was quite possibly a window into the future of this team if Pochettino can make the players adapt. I spotted the aggressive pressing in the Everton game and today it really showed again. I'm just amazed that the players have adapted so well this quickly, and performed their respective roles rather well in a difficult game. 1) will fade after some sleep and 2) will soon prevail...
  4. Shoooooot Lallana?!
  5. Oh noes - surely that cannot be. For the past three seasons we have bought the most under-fed, starving, gluttons of the football league - we have the most hungry team in the world. Are they hungry? You bet! 2-1 down at HT isn't too bad. 2nd half should be interesting but I'd keep an eye out on other results too. Reading losing would be a big plus...
  6. He went on to the Danish league and managed 6 appearances in two years because of injuries. If Fox had long hair and a beard they could be footballing twins
  7. Do you have social meetings with a toy salesman every other week?
  8. I just find the setup really unfair; everyone ganging up on MLG and being the spoilsport he is, he refuses to rise to the bait. That's just not fair. There are a lot of top users investing their precious time here, so not giving them anything is just poor manners from MLG. MLG; you need more expletives, less structured arguments backed by examples and finally - would you please end all your posts declaring yourself the victor of the argument? That would even out the playing field a little...
  9. Usual Twitter-rumours sending Danny Fox to Wolves. Haven't checked sources, so the rumour may well have been started elsewhere on this forum
  10. Writing style still awful, but his focus is getting more interesting.
  11. I missed Tessem, Marsden and Hall. Did write an awful number of wrong answers too - especially pre-Premiership players (Wallaces, Shearer etc.)
  12. Tomasz Hajto. We had a Polish thing going back then with Rasiak, Kosowski and Hajto... and maybe Bart too back then?
  13. Alex Pearce @Bananaman: Jason St Juste. A product of Simon Cliffords brazilian soccer school
  14. Maybe you could take on the task of pointing out which parts of the article you disagree with. Seeing as it is an interpretative piece based on different data, you could either fact check the data or question the interpretations of the data made by the journalist. That's two different entry points for a criticism that could potentially be more impressive than "I bet he googled it - cause that's what I did."
  15. All right then. You can't deliberately kick anyone on a football pitch. What all those macho men in thread doesn't get is that the ball boy could have taken the ball and danced the Macarena bare-arsed and Hazard should still not have kicked him. The ref can add time for timewasting or tell the ballboy to get on with it... Once Hazard pushed him, the ballboy made a meal of it but that happens all the time in football; Hazard got fooled. So yes, I am more than implying that he's an annoying diver but that really does not justify anything for Hazard. And: if the ref sees this as a deliberate kick he can't let them work it out post match; he has to react there and then.
  16. Deserved red. You can't kick anyone on a football pitch - annoying ballboy or not. Hazard had no business approaching the ballboy in the first place, and it was clear that he got stubborn when approached. From then on he clearly overreacted from the kick, but that was irrelevant; Hazard had kicked him and had to go off...
  17. Yes that's all well and good, but you only write that because you think that!

  19. When you put it like that, I get the distinct impression that you are not amused
  20. I was imagining that Forren was really sad that nobody has actually realised that he has signed for us
  21. "Basis in fact"? What on earth are you on about... It's a journalist's (informed) opinion which he backs up with selected data that supports it - nothing more. Did you expect a scientific proof that sacking Adkins was correct?
  22. He's not training. He got a severe depression on arrival
  23. Worst poll ever...
