Classic - I thought it was funny Do the marketing people read this forum?

Having seen the extended highlights I completely agree. We were in control of the game for 90 minutes and on any other day, we could have won by a much larger margin. de Ridder looks class in the highlights, but actually Guly looks like he was at the centre of everything interesting in the first half. MotM for the Brazilian?

Funiculi FunicuLAAAAAAAA!

No matter how annoying it is that we didn't give them a hammering, we still did our job. Dominated the game, scored two goals, and then created loads of chances to close the game down. P'boro sat back and defended and hoped for at freak goal - which they got - but the victory was never really in danger. Job well done (though a tonking would have been nice ). WHam result an extra bonus!

COYR! This team won't throw it away - have faith people!

A challenge for the tech wiz'es on this board: capture the 3rd goal in it's entire length either from bbc or Saints player and upload to Youtube for the enjoyment of generations to come...

I thought their match thread stood apart from other match threads on rival fora in the sense that they 100% concentrated on their own efforts and faults - they was hardly a mention of any Saints player until a Saints fan appeared post match and started discussion Lambert/Heskey... You would think that even on this forum, in defeat, we would be mentioning something, anything, about the opposition's players?! Wrist-slitting, arguing, critisicing yes, but also acknowledgement that we didn't entirely undo ourselves - there was another team who actually beat us... Edit: btw, whoever decided on disabling signatures on this board deserves a medal. It's hard on the eyes to find the "real content" between all sorts of colorful signatures on boards like the Boro one...

How many points do you think we can get in November?

Assuming that Posh will offer more coming forward in comparison with Boro, maybe playing Richardson instead of Butterfield would make sense. The rest of the team I would leave untouched even though de Ridder, Schneiderlin and Connolly should all be very close to a place in the starting lineup...

Chaplow upset with Claridge: Rchap04 Richard chaplow #harsh saying I was poor last season, 35 apps 5 goals from midfield isn't bad by any ones standard!?! I don't know what exactly Claridge did say...

I was unimpressed with Emnes after the first 15 minutes of the match and this might have influenced how I saw him the rest of the match (confirmation bias and all that) - I really thought he was poor today and nothing worked out for him.

Don't underestimate Hull. After losing 3 of the opening 4 matches, they have registered 6 wins and 3 draws from the last 9 games... -
Taken from the Guardian article linked to in the post match thread (http://goo.gl/SqO9f): "Those warnings went unheeded and Southampton soon took advantage. In the 14th minute Danny Butterfield, introduced to the starting 11 specifically to raid down the right, cantered forward, spotted Guly do Prado unattended at the far post and curled in a delicious cross. The Brazilian showed his gratitude by planting a perfect header into the top corner from eight yards. "Fraser Richardson has been our right-back for most of the season and has been outstanding but we brought in Danny for this one to get in positions to help break down a resolute Middlesbrough side who have been very tough to beat away this season," Southampton manager Nigel Adkins said." Great call by NA - this isn't just mindless squad rotation to keep all players happy, this is utilising your squad to put out a team that will get a specific job done.

It's entirely possible that other players than Chaplow are more responsible for making the team tick, but what Chaplow does is easy for the spectator to understand and hopefully it rubs off on his team mates. My MotM too as his workrate is just immense...
-
Excellent display by a cohesive Saints team. Middlesboro looked (or were made to look) very poor with Emnes and McDonald having nothing to work with and proving unable to create anything on their own... Special mention goes to Chaplow - if only we could clone him and throw in a handful of bald maniacs. His workrate is just unbelievable...
-
He did quite good - was involved in some good moves but he didn't make the difference today IMHO. Guly, Lambert, Butterfield, Cork, Chaplow, Fonte, Hooiveld... heck they all seemed to have a good game
-
I think you're seriously underestimating Forest. They are due a run of good results, and that could potentially push us out of the top 17 at the end of the season...

Davis saves well

OMG - that could have been goal of the season (so far) from Lambert!!!
-
De Ridder on for Hammond
-
Lambert wipes the floor with Bates and cuts the ball back for Connolly to hammer it home. Excellent assist for Lambert, clinical finish by Connolly. NpC Player of the Month embarrased...

Superb by Rickie - DC 3-0!!!
