  1. ww need to just hold and pass and make them chase this. If we do this chances will come
  2. get Barnard on up front with guly and get de ridder on the wing Nigel
  3. saints player, signed out and back in and it seemed to work for me
  4. they're all getting the nun around!
  5. what a great read. You know these things have been happening in the background but still good when you see it all written down. Would be great now to see these players stay with us and get the real benefit of this system on the pitch rather than through additional funding by selling these players.
  6. I am not sure that anybody would refuse to talk to us or deal with us. They may walk away because the deal doesn't suit them. Cortese clearly doesn't get emotionally involved in any deal, so that makes it easier for him to just keep driving it on the "this is the deal we want tack" which will work for some but not others. I think we are making good progress and would much rather go this route than the citee route after all it feels so much better winning after a period of struggling I am sure nigel knows what he is doing and am sure that something will get worked out
  7. weather dont look good on friday!!
  8. signed by reading 350k ....next
  9. cant help thinking our goal difference is going to be key in the end
  10. Take Brighton out of the equation, they have this league sown up now (i believe) and show no signs of pressure. All the other teams in the mix are showing signs of pressure, it's not going to be smooth like we would like, but i do believe we will get over the line into 2nd place as we have just a bit more overall than the teams around us
  11. forest of arden night before cup semi with watford, beatts eating too many hash browns for breakfast
  12. look at what you coulda won
  13. we are clearly not the worst team in this league or the best, so should expect good and bad runs as we have been having. The question of what we can do about it and how quickly we can get there is the interesting one for me. Can we improve by training and organising the players we have... yes we can. Can we improve the team by buying in...yes we can. Both will however take time. I think we rae lucky to be so close to and staying in there at the moment. The thing that worries me most is the strength of character both mental and physical to get hold of a tough game like yesterday and control it or at least let them know that they are in a game. I am not talking here about being technically better and out passing poor sides.
  14. good post mate, I remember it well
  15. I liked his comments about how to play with the ball and without, our team only thinks about playing with the ball hence we get caught out a lot. secondly let's start moving and passing to each other and not wait to be passed to before we move. thirdly, let's be brave in front of goal and shoot sometimes fourthly, lets not behave like chickens with heads cut off when in the final third good luck nigel,
  16. who knows if he is the right man, didn't really consider him until he came on the radar. Let's all hope so. I would like him to be successful and the man that will bring us all together and stop the long slide of our club. COYR looking forward to good times
  17. too many players missing cant remember mogan touching ball same as others
  18. No, not at all but didn't really expect adkins either, far too much crowing and I am right messages.... but must be awful being right aaaaaaaaaall the time
  19. sounds like we are talking ourselves into believing Adkins would be a good appointment. Not the name that I would choose if I was trying to get the team into the premiership in 3 - 4 years, maybe he will work ok and maybe he will not.... feels like a luggy type appointment to me, done well somewhere so will do well here
  20. who is les read?? I though the reference to sir les was sir les patterson!! would fit with our club nicely
  21. Most of the discussion and mood on here on a saturday is dictated by the result, so interesting comments about the type of footballl Howe would play. I am not sure there would not be much forgiveness if he had 3 or 4 losses on the trot, I don't think we would be hearing people say he is young and developing then. I think whoever comes in will be expected to hit the ground running and be able to deal with the huge expectation (rightly or wrongly) which has built up around this year. This is why most times the reduced risk of bringing in an experienced manager is the route clubs will take, and I think we will follow. Having spent time around a pro club in the past, there are no certainties and a lot of unknowns when somebody comes in. I have to say that I feel really confused on who I think could come in and deliver from the lists I have seen, and who I would really want. I have to say somebody like Dave Jones at Cardiff, loyal and gets the best out of his teams is the model we need.
  22. Isn't our start to the season exactly the same as last year's? I guess we would expect more because the team has been together, because there is no -10, because we had a preseason etc. etc. so therefore feel disappointed more. Without starting on the -10 and with being named favourites will bring extra pressure which will effect the team. I do think that we have a slightly weaker squad this year (so far) and haven't really the benefit of a strong bench and unless we change this we shouldn't imagine that we will suddenly not have moments during the season like this again. so the question for me is... how good are the bunch that we have and if we don't get more in, can we / should we, really be expecting to get there if we get the injuries during the season we are bound to get??
  23. walking in a guly wonderland or one guly guly, wev'e only got one guly guly
  24. wouldn't boo and shout at him but just don't rate him. cant control a ball confuses himself about what he is going to do, occasional good cross, but more often than not hits their first man or ends up down blind alley by cutting inside doesn't hold position well so was causing Ricky to come out wide too often to collect the ball unproven as div 1 player so little potential imho
  25. the disappointing thing is that AP looked lost on how to change things to make a difference today. 12 players gone 3 in and no real game changers on the bench (connolly could be admitted). Expectation is greater and seems to be taking its toll. IF we are to move on we need to be able to put sides like LO away but didn't really belive we could even though hitting the bar may have hidden may have given the result we alla wanted. time and tide... good luck Alan
