  1. Quite right! We are 8 points off the top, 7 from 6th, thats nothing. Last season 2 teams went away from everyone else, this has not happened this season. To write us off now is ridiculous at this stage. A couple of decent loan players, Barnard back and a win on Saturday and people will change there tune. To quote we need to win x% is a joke no one knows how the other teams will perform.
  2. Frankly you are not a loyal supporter then are you? I have supported Saints since the late 60's and no matter what happens I go to watch my team play because I SUPPORT Southampton FC. Not the chairman, not the board, not the office staff but the team that plays for my home city. When will people realise that we have no influence on the owners, even when it was PLC shareholders had very little say and no power. We will never know why Pardew was sacked, get over it and move on. Get behind the new manager and the players, that is what true supporters will do
  3. The club donated a signed football for auction, which from memory went for just over £100.
  4. Not happy with the goals conceded and that we did not take the chances in the 1st half. Then he hinted that he will need to strengthen. Will be watching the dvd probabaly tomorrow morning and maybe even later to analyse the game
  5. Says he learnt alot from the game. Players preparations, how players react; we are in a war and have to win matches! Commented on the magificent support 1500 travelling to MK dons on a Wednesday night
  6. Great interview so far very honest on Solent now
  7. Well said Derry, I went last night and Mike Osman was hilarious. Indeed MLT LM and Mike Osman all deserve huge credit for giving up their time for free to help someone. Kevin Moore was a true pro and played his heart out for Saints. It is so sad for him and his family that he is now suffering from this illness. There are too many morons on here who seemed not able to understand the good work that people do for others.
  8. Excellent interview! Appears very honest, straight forward sort of bloke. Thought he made the point that I am the Football Manager very clear. Think we might just have a good man to take us back to the prem!!
  9. Think Nicholl won his first game in charge... So it's about time we had a new manager winning his first match; 3-1 to Saints tomorrow!
  10. Heard that NA was not impressed with the levels of fitness of at least 5 senior players @ training yesterday, so this would make sense. Lets face, Lambert, Puncheon, Hammond, Jaidi all look unfit so who else??
  11. This will make a gr8 change, the ball passed along the ground rather than lumped forward in the air!! Nigel Adkins red n white army!!!
  12. Another point missed by many is that Leeds won their first 9 games, Norwich went on a winning run that was immense; no one this season has pulled away - until Nigel Adkins red n white army go on a 41 league game unbeaten run!!!!!
  13. It really is quite amazing that fans are already criticising NA, his apointment and his ability. Surely he needs to be given a chance. I would expect a performnace from the players on Wednesday, they are now playing for their places, hopefully will have a clear idea of tactics, will know how NA wants them to play. He willneed a few weeks to identify what he needs to compliment the squad through loans. Give him a chance!! As for the comments concerning the magitude of the job NA has to complete this season let's put it into prespective. Last season after 5 games we had -8 points and were around 15-18 points off the play offs and at least 23 points off top team Leeds. This season we are mere 8 points from the top and 6 points from the play offs with a game in hand. Automatic promotion is definitely feasible; it is simple: get behind Nigel Adkins, the team , the Chairman and the Club and enjoy this promotion season. As for the moaners, ignore them and hope they do what Charlie Wayman has done - f£$% off!!
  14. How to shoot under the bar, between the posts and away from the keeper!!!
  15. Delighted we now have a manager and now our season can begin. However, running a team on a shoe string, with players that are not well known is a little different to running a team with higher profile players with more ego and earning more money. Will be very interesting to see how the players respond; a good performance and win on Wednesday and the same agian on Saturday will put my mind at rest!!
  16. Move onto another manager. If he wanted to come here he should have resigned and we would have to pay the due compensation, ie the net worth of his contract. The problem appears to be that the greedy scunny chairman wants more and NA seems to go along with that; so where is his loyalty? Not with SFC. Move on.
  17. Delighted to read that you have given this post so much thought and careful consideration!
  18. Agree, but too many are making up their minds based on rumour, here say and then go out of their way to knock the man. No one should be above criticism but comments need to be based on fact. Let's face very, very few on here know the facts but are happy to criticise and even make out that NC is another Lowe! Yes, NC has not helped himself by not making it known why he has taken certain decisions, but we as fans need to adapt to his, Swiss/Italain way of doing business. NC will learn eventually that SFC needs to keep the fans informed and then we can pass judgement.
  19. Everyone should read through this thread http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?25114-Cortese-Questions or go to this: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=479&fid=224&sty=2&act=1&mid=2120208945 No doubt that NC is being wrongly bashed by many on this forum!!
  20. Yeah I do, The Daily Telegraph, would not ever read the crap Sun comic
  21. Everyone should read this, plus hopefully we will have others commenting on the dinner who were there. Confirms my impressions of NC. Hopefully the anti NC brigade will get off his case and allow him to do his job.
  22. Some interesting points. Dune, with regard to cost I'd bet that if you build in inflation and take the price to get into The Dell in say 1970, todays price would be comparable. I first went to watch my team in around 1967, numerous reserve matches before. The 70's were fantastic, 27,000 cramed in for the Fulham match when Best and Marsh played, seeing Chivers play for Spurs on his first return to The Dell plus many many other fantastic matches and experiences is why I love this club. But we needed to move to bigger better ground and SMS is a fantastic stadium when there is 25k+, then the atmosphere is great, but with 18k it is not quite so good.
  23. Exactly! The press in this country are a bunch of *&^%!
  24. How wrong. No one will probabaly know why as there will NDA, probably more to protect AP than NC.
  25. Come on Alpine, always thought you were NC man? It is clesr from what Adkins says in his press conference that the SFC view of things is probably more correct than the Scunny Chairman's view. As said somewhere else all the leaks have come from Scunny and Bournemouth, SFC has conducted all meeting in private and has keep everything just so. What is wrong with that? NC has to get this right and so should take his time. And yes MoN would be the manager of my choice as well!
