Thank **** for that!! Ruined the World Cup, apart from those overpaid tarts with the England shirts on that is!!

Good point Trousers, will try to determine how sure they are............ Still get carry away when I here these rumours, it's a really exciting time in our history!

This is fun watching everyone put replies to one and another. Didn't reply on Saturday had a little drinking to complete and my wife did the Run for Life yesterday and bbq and beer afterwards.. Ok source: within the club has a pretty good record, around 75% of his info has proved to be right. Have had the rumour confirmed again this am that Tyson and Danns will be signing sometime this week...... Who knows, at least it keeps the interst going!!

Tyson and Danns to sign for Saints this week............

I believed AP's appointment to be a very good move; however I am left a little concerned by the treatment of Lee Barnard. Why is he constantly substitued? When he came on, on Saturday he made a huge difference. Last night he was one of a few that worked hard, got into great positions laid the ball off well and yet he was taken off. Why take off a proven goal scorer when we need to score when he is playing well and there were at least 6 other players who playing crap?? Why put on a player at half time and take him off 25 minutes later. AP got it wrong last night big time I would not be surprised to see LB move on in the summer, AP obviously doesnt rate him. A big big lose if LB goes IMHO, he will score loads of goals.

Rickie Lambert is a great player, Le Tiss was a great world class player. RL is not in the same league as MLT, if he was he would not be playing for a League 1 team
-
Fantastic striker, a joy to watch him play. If only he hadnt have got injured. Didnt he get beaten up by skates at a night club andthat started off his back problems?? Ask him that please. PLus, why did he leave? Did he fall out with Nichol? From memory I think he scored 99 goals from around 250 matches???? The goal against the skates in teh FA Cup lives long in my memory............

4 games left, we must win all 4 but which team will **** up? Huddesfield: Stockport (A); Colchester (H); Exeter (A) Charlton: Exeter (A); Leeds (H); Oldham(A) Swindon: Wycombe (A); Brentford (H); Millwall (A) Colchester: Tranmere (H); Huddesfield(A); Orient (H) Saints: Oldham (H); Carlisle(H); Gillingham (A); Southend (H) Col must beat Tranmere to keep their season alive before playing Huddesfield. Swindon need a draw to reach 79 points so think they will make it. But what about Charlton? Their last three games look to be the most difficult and you never know, lose against Exeter and Leeds and then they need to win the last game away. IMHO I still think Huddesfield will only pick up 4 points, Charlton just the 1 point and of course the mighty Saints will win all 4 so we'll be there!! Magnificent on Saturday, fantastic support and was great to be on terrace again, hate sitting down! COYR

To all those who think we can wait for next season for promotion
Ian the Red replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Whats up with you lot? Lallana is not for sale, has not asked for a transfer and here you are discussing what he's worth and which club will buy him? -
To all those who think we can wait for next season for promotion
Ian the Red replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Promotion is necessary if we want to maintain the nucleus of the current team and of course keep the "better" players ie RL, AL, MS, JF, JP etc. Apls is right, clubs from the fizzy pop league will come in for those better players, it's inevitable, thats football. Will they stay? Well, the players are on CCC wages so it will not be for the money, so it will be down to the ambition of the manager and the club. The club has huge ambition, clearly stating that the target is PL. Has AP got the relationship with the players so that the players want to stay and play for him? That's the important question. But Alps is right all the palyers (AP wants to keep) will stay if we win the play offs......... -
Unless it is league games where cup wins = league draws
-
5 home games, so thats 5 wins, its the 3 away games that bother me...
-
Bristol losing 2 - 1 to Car an dBrist had a player sent off Col still losing to Exeter
-
We can get 78 points only if we win all 8 games. Bristol will be our most difficult match not the lot we played last night. If we win the next 4 and the results for HUd, Col, Bristol go our way we might just have a chance......
-
Well having read most of the points raised I find myself siding with APLINE!!! 1 The cups did cost us games in the league - an ever changing side in Jan and Feb, players such as Lambert playing too often, etc. 2 We have undoubtedly under performed with the players we now have since Jan 3 Teams like Derby, Hull etc did not have someone with money behind them hence why they struggle 4 Marcus did not buy the club to float around the lower leagues and win a 2 bit cup 5 I watch Saints to see them win, anyone who does not want to see their team in the prem obviously does not want to see their team win too often! Having watched Saints for over 40 years I have seen many, many highs and many, many lows. To have someone like Marcus buy the club and make available huge resources is an enormous committment and one for which he will want a huge return. That being the prem and no doubt the Champion League in time. We should be focusing on the play offs now - 7 points off in Jan, 11 points at the start of April is not go enopugh. By going up this season that would give us 2 seasons in the fizzy pop league to consolidate and build and then the prem. If I were NC I would have aimed for that goal and allowed the manager to buy as many players as he wanted in order to fulfil that target. NC has, I believed done just that.... the problem is the has not produced the goods..... yet. Yes, it is still possible to reach the play offs, I think Colchester need 14 points from 8 games to reach 79 points and Huddesfield 17 points. We need 24 to reach 78. The others need 79 as we have afar better goal difference. As Alps said anyone who thinks we will walk this league next season should think again, it will not be easy. So did the JPT cost us the play offs? No doubt in my mind it did.
-
Well as my mates will confirm I simply wanted us to get out of the JPT. Yes, it was a great day out at Wembley, wonderful experience but nothing like the '76 FA Cup or the '79 League Cup Finals. Those finals meant something to football..... The Johnstone Paint Brush who really gives a damn???? We need to get our focus right, we need to be in the Premiership as soon as possible. This is a wasted season IMHO, we have 54 points and have, as usual thrown away at least 10-15 points thro sloopy play or simply because we had to make so many changes due to players being cup tied. We lack mental strength. Ok we can, in theory make the play offs, 77 points would be our total if, a big, huge if, we win all 8 remaining games. Will that be enough?? So League 1 next season, even me, I am definitely a half full glass person is dissappointing; with the players we now have not to win at Wycombe, Tranmere, Brighton & Brentford is not right. Indeed 3 points from a possible 12 from just these 4 games is not acceptable. To play 5 in midfield in a game we had to win was not right. We needed to attack, to put Brighton on the back foot. We did not, they scored. We need to ensure that the focus is right for next season. Nothing but automatic promtion is acceptable. Get it right AP, you have the ability, but do you have the self belief?

crap that's it league 1 next season......
