Do what my amateur womens 3rd division regional team do and borrow a couple of minibuses. It's hard financing an amateur team but we still had a physio at last night's friendly. I doubt Pompey could afford that!

The snappy repartee and comic timing on here is great. Honourable mention to Panda who must be a slower typist.. Farlington sports ground doesn't have a gate (or not in my day) so they could train there and change in their cars..

Thank Christ!

Is that the model that wets their nappy as well? We'd better ask an expert....

There is probably an SSE electrician waiting, for safety reasons, to pull the fuses after the fans have all left. Then they'll have to pay a reconnection charge as well as paying the bill... We can dream...

At least 11,000 more than packed into the Park tonight (14,330).

I know, I know. Bit light on teaching this week so went skiing near Mt Blanc, gorgeous day. Got home, cup of tea and a happy half hour catching up on this thread. (Well, it might have been 3/4 of an hour and two mugs...).

I think it's great to see the improvement, and, I'd say, the self-belief. I don't think he ever reckoned he'd play in the Premiership, but now I think he's beginning to believe. I know I am. The all round game has improved so much, and his touch, vision and passing are excellent and I for one would be very pleased for him.

Wimp!:-) Go to this festival not too far from me, the battle of the Oranges at Ivrea. Manic!.

I presume he is now fully au-fait with the situation and is informing other Burnley fans?

I've been out for an apperitivo tonight; most unusual for a Monday, and am feeling relaxed, played a few whistle and flute tunes with a friend and then came on here... How many more pages since this morning? Strewth! I remember this thread at around 500 pages when we were speculating whether we'd ever make a 1000!..

I've just remembered: I've a decent shareholding which I'm forgetting about until I get older. Perhaps a letter from a shareholder is called for!

Ohh, if only I had contacts there still... Plenty of Saints supporters, even at reasonably high levels, when I worked for them..

You really don't have a clue how racism works do you? Have a look at the history of the US Deep South or South Africa and see if you can work out why your statement is so stupid . I can't be arsed to waste my time explaining.

To say that there have been some unbelievable responses would be suggesting that the responses from a couple of the forum trolls were unexpected. Unfortunately they were entirely predictable, although the addition of playground reponses - "no grassing" - was a more surprising but equally thoughtless comment. The problem with confronting idiots at matches is that they respond idiotically. I was with a group of friends on the East Stand benches at The Dell. We were all getting hacked off with two homophobic guys in front of us and one of our number, DM, objected rather more loudly to their drip of unpleasant comments. The guy turned round and hit him in the face, and there was a danger that our mate would have been thrown out along with the offenders. We reported the matter to the stewards and at some subsequent games they had a camera and microphone trained on these guys. Fortunately we moved to SMS soon after as these two were consistently unpleasant and stupid.

You've cc'd all the other clubs in the Championship, I hope.:-)

"If he can demonstrate that he has funds" -er.. yes. But he can't. The absence of funds seems to be the singular aspect of Pompey's situation at the moment, wouldn't you say?

I saw a bit of the pool-utd game on a stream. Did they really pay £35m??!! Given a choice I'd actually prefer Lambert.. Pity he's not younger.
