I saw it as a chance to have a bit of fun with. It’s amazing the range of questions you can answer with ‘Sport Republic Out’ and ‘employ a proper manager’. Clearly the survey is intended to gather clever ideas on how to get people to spend more money on a matchday. I doubt they realise that getting proper football people to run the club and employing a proper football person to manage the team, would do just that. Pissing about in mid table in the Championship won’t have people dipping into their pockets that much.

That idea needs putting in the bin. Enough rubbish sides get into 5th and 6th, if you finish outside of that you’ve got no business having a shot at promotion

We’d be a million miles off it, from the boardroom to the manager, coaches, players and probably the tea lady. That said, Sunderland were shite in the Championship and went up via the playoffs with a points total we could achieve. They just recruited very well and went for it, and it’s worked. Leeds too. Welington my MOTM today, he’s everything that Manning isn’t and I think as fans we’d forgotten what a competent full back looks like. Great leap, good on the ball, pace in both directions, tackles. Downes and Jander looked great today, little give and goes, actually turning and driving into space rather than going backwards - I’m sure because now with the extra man in midfield it means them not being as tightly marked/outnumbered. And getting tight and stuck in without the ball rather than retreating. So much better.

Who’d have guessed that with an extra man in midfield, there’s more often an outlet in midfield and we can play further up the pitch. Need to keep moving the ball quickly and don’t let Stoke settle. Obviously we’ll need another goal to win the game as we don’t do clean sheets away
