  1. Puel? Pied? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  2. With Maya having travelled a lot I assume he may get rested on Saturday. Probably Hoedt instead but would be a chance to give VVD a few minutes Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. There has obviously been a change in his frame of mind for him to be allowed back with the first team. IMO, the sooner he plays now, the better. My guess is bench on Saturday, starts at Palace. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  4. A classic question of who blinks first. Club needing the money and rid of a rotten apple, or player seeing his career vanish. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  5. This. Eventually he may get it into his thick skull that his agent is still trying to play by yesterday's tactics, and it won't work. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. Absolutely not. The principle is now far bigger than one sulking player and desperate grasping agent. Forcing a club to cash in because they've got a bloody-minded player refusing to do what they're paid a fortune to do has become a standard ploy of agents and players who don't give a toss about any club, or the game - just their own wealth. For the good, even survival, of football as a team game, where the success of the team is more important than individual profit, the stand being made now has to continue. Even to the extent of watching a player being made to see out a six-year contract, destroying themselves in the process. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. It's getting difficult to see how he doesn't understand that he's now damaging himself, and his reputation, far more than he's damaging Saints. It can only be pig-headedness and a totally misguided belief that Saints are worried and will cave in. I can see no reason why anything will be different in January, but he and his agent probably think it will be. I assume the other reason is that his agent is now getting desperate as we're now seeing a significant move away from player power and the "force a move" tactics aren't working any more. That means a big shift and an end to easy paydays for agents. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  8. Absolutely. What's the point of fighting to keep a player only to try to undermine him? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  9. If he is going to play, would be best if his first game is away from St Mary's. I won't boo him. I will quietly assess whether he's giving 100% Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  10. I'm wondering just when this will sink in and he'll stop believing that Saints will cave in soon. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. Just what I'd expect from that disgusting individual. How dare little Southampton not bend over for Liverpool. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  12. I would have put it differently. Virgil should address why, only six months after signing a six year contract and making lots of noise about his commitment to Saints, he allowed his agent to advise him so badly. I cannot lay any blame at the club's door. They gave him an improved contract and the captaincy. If, as alleged, he didn't get on with the manager, well, he's gone. If he wanted more ambition, he's got his international partner to play alongside him, and a strengthened midfield. No, this is pure greed. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. You're right, and thanks for what you've shared. I confess to being sceptical initially, but it's clear you've tried to pass on what you can. Some on here don't get it that we're not playing a computer game, or that information is rarely concrete. As you say, things change and I doubt anyone was 100% sure how the last few days would pan out. It was obvious we had plenty of resolve, but my guess is they were bracing themselves for an offer they couldn't refuse. I, and maybe you, were surprised it didn't come. But Virgil's still here and I hope you won't be put off sharing what you can. From what you've suggested before, there's been at least one attempt to reintegrate him, without success. Interesting times ahead as we see whether he'll backtrack or sit it out indefinitely. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  14. Stolen from elsewhere, but I couldn't resist it. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  15. He can't be captain. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  16. Omlette-ing go of this now. Fried I've had un ouef. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  17. Liverpool hatched a plan, but turned chicken when we crowed to the Premier League, which was the white thing to do. Pleased we've told them eggsactly where to get off. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. Please no. He's back to his best at CB. His dip came with Koeman determined to use him at FB. What's the need when we've got Bertrand, Targett (probably, unless there's a late deal) and McQueen? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  19. At least VVD hasn't been poached. Bl00dy hell. [emoji852]️ Who started this? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  20. Bit of a yolk, really. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. So Barcelona can still come in for VVD tomorrow? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  22. Think it's fallen through. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  23. Err, aren't McQueen and Targett LBs? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  24. Hopefully, now Virgil's staying, Bertie will get back to normal, rather than preparing to have the mega-strop that was coming if we'd let VVD go. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  25. Try to integrate him. The primary reason for keeping him was to play for us. But a discussion has to take place to make sure he understands that nothing changes in the next window, or two, or more, unless he shows commitment in return for an agreement to listen to acceptable offers at some point. And he needs to get his head round the fact that he would damage his own reputation far more than he would damage Saints by refusing to play, or playing half-heartedly. If he can't do that, regrettably he will will have to continue to be isolated. And, as an aside, I can't see that our position with LFC changes when we move into a new window. They've withdrawn interest. It'll be interesting to see how they can reopen interest without our initiative. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
