  1. Were you there? Don't suppose it matters really as your view of JWP is set. I guess you just copy and paste this comment after every game. JWP worked hard, was always available, looking for the ball forward which was rarely on because of lack of movement. He fed the wings time and time again. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  2. It's not that silly. Puel was doing well playing two virtually different teams at this point last year. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks Tom. I agree on Boufal. I think he came wanting to be a superstar without appreciating the graft needed. Disappointed about signings - not the type we need now. And that we let Gallagher go out. Why? Have to hope that Sims and Hesketh can shine when they're fit. Any news? I think the problems last night were 1. New formation that didn't suit players and didn't work. 2. Established players didn't give everything. We'd have been better off playing fringe players with something to prove. Puel did it with more success than he was given credit for. Where is Hojbjerg? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  4. Fair enough. I hadn't caught up on that. Tom's previous posts suggested the bid wasn't Liverpool. Can't see us backtracking though. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  5. Just seen the photo of their first goal. Not surprising that Batth got above Stephens as he had a big handful of his shirt. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. Looking at it again in the cold light of day. The underlying problem was the setup. Why we started with three at the back is beyond me, and the team looked lost. Then consider who was missing. Cedric is way ahead of Pied. Gabbi is far better than Austin. We messed around with an established (if weakish) CB pairing. It was obvious to bring Bedarnek in, but would have been better in a two with Maya. Why didn't Hojbjerg play? With Lemina presumably tested it should have been his chance. And I felt that it showed how much Davis contributes to the effectiveness of midfield. But, yes, fair enough to rest him for Sat. Boufal, Tadic and JWP should have been creative enough but weren't on the same wavelength especially with a static Austin not moving any defenders or getting into scoring positions. On to Huddersfield. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. Where's the bid from Liverpool? I think you're pretty well totally wrong. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  8. I have to agree. FF's confidence looks completely shot. I'd go so far as to say with McCarthy in goal we could have won. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  9. Totally this. If we're getting in an attacking player, it has to be to replace Austin. Not good enough. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  10. But you can't pick him when he performs like he did tonight. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. Probably call it #10. Lot of the ball, never lost it, frustrated at the options in front of him. I think he played well. Cue moaning that he passed sideways and back. Because there were no other ****ing options. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  12. Ok. My angry response. Team should have been ok, but only Yoshida, McQueen, Romeu, JWP, Stephens played with any credit. Worst player on the pitch was Austin. Slow, static, have no attacking options. Don't say he didn't get service. He never moved to anywhere where he could receive a pass. Pied fragile, likewise Bedarnek. Neither good enough. Boufal and Tadic trying to be individually clever but not a brain cell between them. People will blame JWP for going sideways. There was no movement in front of him for other options. He rarely had any option except the ball to McQueen. Forster. Where do I start.? I've tried to defend him, but a soft header in the middle of the goal and another where he showed total indecision. McCarthy must be given a chance. We desperately need Sims and Hesketh fit. Both better than Boufal and Tadic. Rant over. I did a round trip of 400 miles for this and I'm angry. Need alcohol and a curry. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. But he's way behind JWP at the moment in terms of controlling a game. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  14. Our average age was apparently 19.1, so not much difference. They were a very physical side, bigger than us man for man and bullied us. Think we'll see the same tonight. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  15. The plot thickens .... Hello Geoff, * Thank you for taking the time to send us your E Mail. * We are not party to this information – our apologies for any disappointment caused. * We would suggest contacting our Media Team viamedia@saintsfc.co.uk, where one of our colleagues will be able to assist you further. * Kind Regards Daniel Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  16. The average age of their U23 squad on Mon was 19.5 (courtesy of trousers), so I guess they held back some reserves for tonight. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  17. I assume that is over and above what was already agreed with Kat. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. Coutinho CDAJFU. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  19. I'm struggling to think what kind of attacking player we'd want. Tadic, Redmond and Boufal, with Sims in reserve, cover what I'd call creative attacking MF. Long has pace. Austin and Gabbi are finishers. I can only think controlling playmaker, upgrade on JWP or Davis, unless it's strong traditional #9 able to hold the ball up and good on the air - like Gallagher who've they've now decided isn't ready. 20. Good question. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. But surely it does? [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  22. Probably right. I thought McQueen might play a more attacking role, but my guess now for the front four would be Austin, with JWP, Boufal and Long, assuming Sims and Hesketh still out. Back four of Pied, Stephens/Yoshida, Bedarnek, McQueen. Lemina and Romeu/Davis in midfield. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  23. Cedric's going nowhere but won't play. It'll be Pied. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  24. Agreed. This won't be easy. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  25. Both Bertrand and Romeu weren't good enough for Chelsea when they came. We recognised the potential. And I believe other clubs were in for Wesley. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
