I think that's far from sure, and probably unlikely. He IS a problem, wedded to a defensive mindset, far more even than Puel. But a number of players are also problems, playing for themselves and a money-grabbing move rather than the team. Perhaps he has been unlucky. We had good chances today. I agree that it's wrong to boo him. That just strengthens his campaign: if management think fans are against him, it's more problematic sticking to their guns. But I'm not happy with him. I think he is "doing a Fonte" - going through the motions, not putting in key tackles, ambling when he should be sprinting, probably giving away the odd penalty. Arsenal v Liverpool is favourite for TV on Xmas Eve but I actually sympathise for once with the Scousers who, if the ko is latish, wouldn't get home until the early hours of Christmas morning. Why would it force his hand to play a system he's shown no interest in? Will just replace Long with Gabbiadini and McQueen or Targett for Bertrand, if injured as rumoured. I'm with this, totally. We get plenty of team suggestions on here, ranging from sensible to bizarre in the extreme, but I'm struggling to remember a time when there was such a concensus. Gabbiadini has to replace Redmond. The biggest selection dilemma now is Maya/Hoedt. If we can't slot Gabby and Long in, as above, maybe we should play to strengths and go 3-4-1-2. Forster Maya VVD Hoedt Cedric Romeu Lemina Bertrand Boufal/Tadic/Davis Long Gabbiadini with Lemina given licence to go forward much more and link with the front three.
