As a player, not a manager. This would be the worst possible nightmare. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I believe, and desperately hope that we wouldn't touch Giggs with a bargepole. Unproven, totally inexperienced, inept, but no doubt assuming that he'll get a job at a biggish club simply because he at Manure. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Good summary. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/jun/15/claude-puel-southampton-premier-league-expectations?CMP=share_btn_fb Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Agree with this. Just hope in 20 games or so we're not saying perhaps he wasn't that bad. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I assume Black goes too. In many ways, I'm sorry to see Puel go. Not nearly as some bandwagon-jumpers make out. But I really will be glad to see that back of Black. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Thanks for what really was a great season, Claude. Despite what many will insist, we did play some good football, but didn't score enough. Shows how expectations have risen when 8th and a Wembley final aren't good enough to overcome some frustrating results and, more importantly, an outwardly dour managerial style. In the course of three votes, the Tories have vastly weakened themselves. In the last election, because of their majority they were forced to agree to a referendum. Despite massively backing Remain, they lost. Now, through awful, weak, pathetic leadership, an awful manifesto and the most arrogant campaign, they have lost their majority. Almost as if they want to get out of Brexit, as I suggested a few thousand posts back. Where are you now, Nolan? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

You still don't get it that this proves he is totally electable. May is not fit to lead. She lost a 20 point lead all by herself. I'm delighted with the result. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

You really are getting desperate now, aren't you? And with good reason. A Tory landslide is now as likely as snow in July. Fortunately. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Shroppie replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I guess security going in would have been tight, but this happened in the foyer just outside and after the event. Probably much less checking of those coming to meet people after. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -

Highest crossers in the League, but can't score from headers............
Shroppie replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
It always appears to me that we don't attack crosses, particularly at the near post. Although Gabbiadini was doing that during his scoring spree, but seemed to have lost it when he came back. Pelle used to make those runs a lot, too. It's pretty obvious, but if you've only got one target for a cross, he can easily be marked. And if there's no-one attacking the near post, the defence can cut crosses out there, and that has been happening a lot. The near post run also pulls at least one defender out of the middle. In terms of points won this season compared with last, we've declined more than any other club except Leicester (equal with W Ham) Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

There were at least three chances yesterday that, on another day, would have given us a comfortable win. It's not lack of trying! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

You're right. The Board may well think he's still a good fit but will be nervous of the growing mob rebellion. But we do live in an age of mass gut reaction to much-repeated messages and, whatever happens, I hope we don't regret it. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I couldn't get to the game, but I've sensed it going that way recently. Totally agree with your post, and The Cat. A toxic atmosphere and anger will only make matters worse. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Thanks for that. It sums up what I've been feeling but not not quite been able to pin down. The players are going through competent enough motions, and that looks ok and does produce some chances, but in the end, it becomes predictable and doesn't deliver. Something extra in terms of creativity, aggression and committing players in the box is needed. For example, so many of our crosses come to nothing. Why? How often do we have more than one player looking to get onto the end of a cross? The cross is easy to cut out if no-one is attacking the near post. Who does that? Our passing can look good and even slick, but there isn't that critical bravery to make something happen in the box. And that's got to be down to coaching. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

My biggest concern is that a strong end to the season (like last year) sends everyone off feeling positive and keen to get back, and it often results if a good start. Didn't happen so much for us at the start of this season because of the Koeman debacle and bad striker recruitment decisions. But conversely, teams that end a season weakly very often struggle to shake that off. Just think, we're going to start our first home game next season having not won, or scored in, the previous five. Pressure from the off. We need changes and, reluctantly because I respect Puel, he may have to go, partly as a scapegoat for other problems, such as players who can't shoot or have no finishing instinct, a Board who've got some recruitment wrong, and players who thoughtlessly got themselves injured. Whatever, we seriously need swift and decisive action to deal with the position we find ourselves in regarding manager and assistants, VVD, other departures wanted and unwanted and strengthening in key positions - CB, DM, striker. Being fair, for the last sub he had no real attacking options left as, for some reason, JRod wasn't on the bench and Long is injured. I guess he thought Pied could bring something, but surprised he didn't take Davis or even a defender off. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

My first priority would be to lose Black. I'd like to see Puel continue with an assistant who can instill a scoring instinct, but I'm far from confident that will happen. Rightly or wrongly, too many are jumping on the Puel out bandwagon. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
