  1. Does seem strange. I expect the Tories have mates in the city who will make a fortune from it (meaning they will as well) plus the government get a wedge of cash to make their figures look good in the short term.
  2. Chelsea City United Sunderland Stoke Palace Saints: 8th
  3. Could quickly revert back after the first few games.
  4. The whole "we've already voted in 1974" argument is laughable, the Europe some, now very old, people voted for back then is nothing like the Europe we a saddled with today. When you see MPs come out with that argument they just look embarrassed. Why don't people just admit that the reason they don't want a referendum is because we would vote to get out?
  5. No, but some on here seemed to think he was on some sort of protracted 9 month fitness regime.
  6. What's the difference between locking someone up for life without review and locking someone up for life with a review that is automatically going to be turned down? Brady might have his review and say he's really sorry and promises not to do it again. Why won't you let him out like you would other serial killers?
  7. He might be a great player I don't know enough about him to judge. My only concern is that the Scottish league is garbage, Neil McCann looked good at that level. As for the CL, buying a player on the back of a handful of games at any level is a bit of a gamble. I'm not moaning but we did spend alot last season on average players, hope they get it right this time.
  8. I don't think they are, plenty of people have been released to offend again. Anyway the chance of parole would give them hope, they need to know they will die inside to be punished properly.
  9. Not sure about spending £12.5mill on some one from the Scottish league, bit of a gamble.
  10. I'm not saying give up all our human rights, just don't sign up to that specific agreement. The UK is more than capable of writing it's own. We live in England, you can't fart without effecting someones human rights. Why do people think we are suddenly going to turn into Stalinist Russia by making slight changes to laws concerning mass murderers?
  11. Not really, if we are never going to let them out we don't need to worry about their rehabilitation. I think whole life sentences are appropriate because they completely remove the criminal's hope, that's part of their punishment. It's time to just pull out of the European Court of Human Rights.
  12. Wouldn't make any difference really as actual crime always has been higher than reported crime. Crime is and will continue to go down because of technology. Things like CCTV, mobile phones, forensic science and the internet make solving crime much easier than years ago.
  13. The percentage of immigrants or ethnic minorities in inner city areas would be higher so wouldn't reflect the national average.
  14. It rhymes so it's true
  15. I've seen friends destroyed by alcohol addiction, it's not nice. He has my sympathy, hope he gets over it because he was a fantastic player.
  16. It is wrong how they seem to be able to influence the police with their money and connections. 37 officers is just barking mad, must be a better use of resources as there is probably little chance of her being alive. All the publicity is rather annoying but you can't blame the parents for doing all they can to get publicity. They should never have left their kids on their own so are to blame for what happened so are going to be motivated by the guilt they feel. I don't buy the idea that they killed her and are just carrying out an elaborate cover-up. If that was the case they would have stopped and shut up a long time ago. They certainly wouldn't want 37 British old bill on the case. I also don't think it's likely that all their friends at the tapas restaurant would cover it up if they did kill her, with all this publicity someone would blab.
  17. I just ignore cr@p like this. Journos and agents have so many agendas and axes to grind. If a journo has criticised Cortese then it means an agent has, and in my opinion it's good that agents don't like Cortese because it means he is driving a hard bargain. We may lose out on the odd player because Cortese is such a hard bastard but in the long run the club will be stronger for not paying a fortune to these leaches.
  18. I think they will be making a big mistake going with this Tescos thing. The one thing they had going for them was the fact that there was a large area of land to be developed which could incorporate a new stadium. This deal could stop any future ground improvements simply because no one is going to want to come in and fund it. Rotating the pitch looked like a tricky and costly exercise anyway even when they had some space around it. Unless Tescos are giving them a big wedge of cash (the amount they are giving seems to be shrouded in secrecy) I don't see what PFC get out of it that is worth stopping all potential future investment. I guess they had to get whatever deal they could to stay alive but I think it will see them stuck in that ****ty little ground for good if it goes ahead.
  19. The Ugly Inside did a S.I.C.K (Saints In Conventional Kit) campaign so I guess some people were not happy. I didn't mind any of the 80's kits as they still looked like 'Southampton' to me.
  20. You are just making sh!t up to justify a decision made by 'he who does no wrong'.
  21. Like Chis Nicholl's 4-2-4 side that thrashed the Champions Liverpool 4-1 and finished 7th? That's the best Saints side I've ever seen play.
  22. Do you seriously expect anyone to believe that? I suppose if you went to the games on your own, didn't talk to anyone, read any matchday programmes or history books, and didn't watch any television at all you could be unaware we used to play in stripes. Anyway the Keegan kit and the Danish Pyjama's were both still red and white striped shirts with black shorts and white socks. The only kit that wasn't was the David Armstrong red and black corners one. Even that was a red and white shirt with black shorts and white socks. It was an 80's fashion disaster but still an attempt was made to make it look 'Southampton'. I agree with the OP, whilst I'm not that @rsed about buying a replica shirt, I don't like the way the clubs traditions are valued so little by the people that run the club.
  23. I disagree about killing being justifiable, sometimes it needs to be done to force change. But that's just my opinion.
  24. Here's my dream team, I'm a bit too young to have watched Paine, Channon, Ball, Keegan and co but this team would still kick some serious ass. ----------------------- Shilton ----------------------- Dodd -------- Wright -------- Ruddock -------- Bale ------------ Case ------------ Schneiderlin ---------- D Wallace ----------- Le Tissier ------------ Walcott ----------------------- Shearer ----------------------- Subs: Neimi Pahars Oxlade Chamberlain Bridge Beattie
  25. Le Tiss for me. Before him it was Shilton and then Case.
