  1. The quicker the better, doesn't matter how it happens IMO. My concern is about the level of debt. If we start splashing out big money chances are, just like at pompey, it will have to be paid back at some point further down the line. It would be naive to automatically expect it to be gifted by the Leibherrs. I know the cult won't like it but if spending gets silly we should ask questions.
  2. "Yet it is very easy to be big-hearted Charlie with another man’s money. By acting like a manager, Southampton’s chairman only shines light on the real hero here: Katharina Liebherr." That part rings true.
  3. I don't get the argument against it, if you don't agree with it, don't go to the wedding. All this "institution of marrage stuff is nonsense", I don't see how a gay couple getting married effects my, or any other, marriage in any way.
  4. Enemy Coast Ahead by Gibson is a brilliant read. The skill and bravery of these guys was unbelievable. The bomber pilots lives were a weird one in that they lived a fairly normal life in england, then they would be sent into the most terrifying and dangerous situation imaginable over Germany. Then hours later they would be back in Lincoln having a fry up, minus some of their friends. It must have taken a special person to be able to cope with the nerves. The Dambusters raid was British invention, skill, bravery and determination at it's finest.
  5. How it being PR the exact opposite of it being great news, it is both.
  6. No one knows what went on behind the scenes, we are all speculating. You can't deny it is all excellent PR though. We have "Saints are ambitious and owned by billionaires" in the national media, the fans will be signing Cortese's and Leibherr's name at the game today (when many had appeared to have taken having rich owners for granted). All because the chairman and owner had a meeting they were always going to have. No one has lied to the media, just a few carefully worded statements and they have a story where there is none.
  7. Anyone who sings the name of a chairman is a mong.
  8. Cortese using the media to try and manipulate his bosses plans is no less plausible given how he and the Leibherrs have kept absolutely everything behind closed doors so far.
  9. This whole thing actually has been great PR. I wouldn't be surprised if it was all planned to create a big positive news story about something that was always going to happen. There probably was never any disagreement between the Liebherrs and Cortese, I expect both parties engineered it all. Now in the national news we have "Saints are owned by billionaires, have big plans, and are all united." - great PR. The only reason that made the news is because of all that cr@p that went on before.
  10. Great news, wasn't expecting that when I logged on. Onwards and upwards.
  11. I don't think it's anything to do with the person, just the money he was promised he would have to spend. If a new chairman came in and gave him more it would be "Nicola who?".
  12. It's not about Cortese or Poch, it's about the money. The Leibherrs obviously don't want to chuck millions at it and Cortese has obviously told everyone there was a bottomless pit. Not a good situation at all.
  13. It would be way more uncertain if we were not owned by billionaires.
  14. How many millions of debt did they write off again?
  15. The worrying thing is how this is being played out in the media. Knowing how Cortese and the Leibherrs like to keep things in house, it smacks of desperation. It's all speculation but my gut feeling is NC and Poch wont be around much longer.
  16. Was a good night, Poch speaks half decent English but think he just wants to make sure he doesn't make any gaffs. Was impressed with the whole set up, much better than previous years.
  17. It is obviously a concern, but as we don't know all the facts it's hard to judge whatever decision the owners make. Cortese has shown how good he is at running the club but it's not his money at stake.
  18. I voted for Cortese to stay as he has obviously done a good job and any instability is a bad thing in our current position. But I don't see why him leaving is some sort of disaster. There is no reason why he couldn't be replaced with an equally capable CEO and the club would carry on without the slightest bit of disruption. We don't know all the facts so it's hard to criticise whatever decision the owners make. It's their money.
  19. Maybe he got bored of talking to you?
  20. Don't be such a bloody bed wetter. If the Liebherrs don't want to finance Cortese's march to the Champions League that is entirely up to them. If they want someone else to run their club it's up to them. Cortese has done a good job but the only bad news IMO is that the article hints at the owners not wanting to invest.
  21. It COULD grow, or it could spend millions trying to get into Europe and still end up relegated in massive debt. With the new TV money secured now could be the best time to sell if that is what they were looking to do.
  22. The important thing is the Leibherr's money, not who is Chief Exec. It wouldn't be hard to hire a decent replacement.
  23. 10564, but i couldn't be arsed to zoom in and try to find roadsigns so that's not bad.
