  1. "Willy Caballero set for Southampton medical tomorrow ahead of signing a short-term deal following injuries to Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster. The 40-year-old Argentine has been training with AFC Wimbledon to keep himself fit and key figures at the club acted quickly to wrap up a deal on Sunday. Caballero was keen to join as soon as he heard about the opportunity and one of the key attractions for Southampton was that his style will fit into the club’s goalkeeping playbook."
  2. I did post this in the match thread....perhaps here would have been better:- "How do you explain this? Saints player fouled in centre of pitch and stays down. Ref allows play to continue with Brighton attacking....they could have scored. Ball eventually gets to Saints goalkeepers hands. Ref then turns round goes back, and books the Brighton player! If he's booked him I assume it was a foul, so why no free kick to Saints originally? Am I missing something?? Other than us having yet another useless ref??"
  3. From FB:- Reports: Southampton are weighing up a move for former Man City and Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero to solve their crisis. The 40-year-old veteran is a free agent since leaving Chelsea at the end of last season after rejecting a new contract from the club.

  5. Stephens available apparently......Bendarek out. Forster Injured.
  6. I may be wrong, but I think that the Chinese Government changing their rules about taking money out of China really put us in this position..
  7. I assume that this is happening at half-time. One or two on here will be spitting feathers!! "Former Southampton manager Nigel Adkins will be the latest recipient of the ‘Forever Saint’ award in recognition for taking the club from League 1 to the Premier League in successive seasons. He’ll be very deserving of this award 👍"
  8. Yeah, but no, but.....
  9. Ah, but you are talking facts and statistics. They don't matter...
  10. I find this sudden, belated "Love-in" with Puel amazing. Having been watching Saints since the mid 50's, his season with us was the only one that I, along with 1000's others, didn't bother to stay for the traditional end-of-season "Lap of Honour" with the manager and team. Someone else used the word "turgid" to describe his football. It was generally painful to watch. He hasn't exactly set the world alight since he left.
  11. The difference is that Branfoot came across as an extremely dislikable person. I couldn't stand him. He was probably the only manager to be booed by his own fans at a Wembley Final (the ZDS). Ralph is very likeable and who obviously loves his job here and the club. I haven't seen any protests to get rid of him or any booing of him.
  12. The same Lyanco that so many people on here said should be in the team a few weeks ago?
  13. "Fish out of water"....
  14. Sadly (or not?) this is the business model that the Club adheres to.......find young gems cheaply, turn them into stars and sell them for big bucks. To a degree, in our current financial position with the Club being self-sustaining, it has to be the correct path to follow.
  15. Also worth remembering that Broja is on loan and not really part of long term plans. I suspect that there is very little possibility of us signing him long term.
  16. Any vague connection to this?? https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/premier-league-nears-record-sale-us-tv-rights-about-2-bln-ft-2021-11-15/
  17. Anyone who genuinely thinks this needs to give their heads a wobble. Someone needs to do a video of his Saints goals.
  18. Quite often, those people who write people off too early, are not big enough to admit that they were wrong if the player comes good, and will keep knocking him. IMHO JWP is a good example.
  19. I seem to remember that when we were about to sign Jhon Viafara the the general reaction on here was very negative, I also seem to remember that he became something of a terrace favourite in the end. It's a bit old-fashioned I know (but then I am a Miserableoldgit with the emphasis on the "old"), but I like to think that the management/recruitment staff have done their homework, and then watch the new players play in the team before making my mind up.
  20. I have learnt my lesson!!😄😄
  21. Oh No!!!! I've been MLG'd!!! 😄

  23. Dean Smith new Norwich manager...confirmed.
  24. Hong Kong December 1941?
  25. Yes....because he does seem such a sensitive soul. It may just push him over the edge....
