I would suggest that constantly playing in the "style" that we have, coupled with the inertia shown by the board would justify it. At least other "in peril" teams have attempted to change things with signings and management changes.

Had mine since 1975 through thick and thin......really couldn`t face going today...watched on TV. As somebody else said - two years of absolute tripe followed by the debacle of this transfer window - couldn`t wait to get rid of VVD before the window actually opened and then ballsed the rest of the window up. Nobody at the club seems to actually care....we are sleepwalking into relegation....all the great work since ML bought us gone.....really thinking about whether to renew or not next year

I fell out of love with football a while ago. I have been watching Saints since the late 50's and always will....I love my visits to St Mary's......but I rarely watch football on TV....never watch England but never miss an England Rugby match. I love it on the odd occasion when I can get to Twickenham. It is a much more honest game and a much more "grown up" game...I love the respect that the players have for the refs... I wouldn't disagree that we have been "lucky" as a generation...certainly compared to my Dad and Grandad, both of whom fought in World Wars, but when I was growing up in the 50's there was rationing and austerity.....things changed in the 60's and began to get better. We got married in 1971 (and we still are) and lived in a mobile home for 7 years. We bought our first house in 78...and shortly after inflation went up to 25%....our mortgage that we could just afford virtually doubled....it was a real struggle. We had the oil crisis and the three day week....we had the recession of 80 when I was out of work for 3 months....nothing around. All I am saying is that it hasn't all been "lucky". All you can do is play the cards that you have been dealt in life. Surely we can't be blamed for that? It now seem fashionable to blame baby-boomers for most things....but in a democracy we all have a vote that we should cast freely and honestly....nothing should change that. I am 68. I have worked all my life (since 15). I have paid all of my tax and NI all of those years. I have just retired now so I voluntarily worked three years past my official retirement age. I have done my bit (and some) so I find your comment "as a generation, the baby boomers have become winey, entitled, smug, self serving and ungrateful for the opportunities they have had." disgusting and insulting. I am none of the things that you accuse my generation of, and nor is anyone else that I know. If you accused any other section of society of those things I am sure that it would be considered unacceptable but I expect that baby-boomers don't matter because we have outlived our usefulness...
