When Long was questioning Dean as to why it was no pen, Dean held up his thumb and forefinger motioning how close it was to being a penalty.

So we might just about make it home in time for Dancing on Ice - after finding the bolt cutters to remove said protestor, our second half tea break, extra-time, penalties, and not forgetting the new breaking up of momentum ploy, the players taking turns to lay down on the pitch like they have been taken out by a sniper in the floodlights whenever Man City start getting a bit too hot.

Jammy buggers! As Greavsie always said “It’s a funny ol game Saint”.
-
Hope there’s a late train to get home

No one has mentioned that Andre Mariner is backing him up on VAR another big team ref - the only reliable member of the game officials is Sian Massey on Assistant VAR duty, she is decent when running the line, probably because she lives under a magnifying glass whenever doing her job. Most of the cards seem stacked against us for this game, so no real pressure - may as well relax and do what we know we CAN do and beat the house. 😇🔴⚪️🔴⚪️😇

First goal for Watford summed the afternoon “oh sorry would you like another go……………that didn’t work try this one for size, hope you like the gift wrap and ribbon”.

Anything decent?🍷😁

That’s the bugger with Lyanco being crocked, he maybe a tad green but him and Salisu both have presence and potentially the makings of an imposing partnership. i emphasise - Potentially

From my seat I didn’t think Newcastle were anything special - what grates is they can rattle off a 9 game unbeaten run - we seem to about hit a milestone run and you can almost put your house on the next Saints result. I said to Mrs JBS during the match that we seem to have turned the clock back to our autumn performances - all huff and very little puff. Obviously Newcastle set up to be stubborn but we just had no pace in the play and recent vision seemed to have gone out the window - Livramento could have brought his colouring book and crayons finished most of it by full time the amount of time he spent waiting for the ball to be passed in his direction. I know we have the legendary play book, but when we decided kick a goal kick long Tino is standing with acres of Hampshire in front of him to run into, let’s play tombola with where the ball lands, instead of rifling it out infront of Tino to collect and pretty much go a long way towards the oppos goal by surprise. Anyone dares to raise the issue of our 60 minute tea break again they should be pointing at Newcastle gamesmanship “lay on the pitch to break the flow” whenever it gets a bit too hot. Kevin Friend didn’t let us down either, he comes pretty close to being as dog shit for us as Mike ‘look at me’ Dean, he certainly had a pocket stuffed full of receipts from all the Geordie crap he bought, his performance almost leaned towards what space was left in his pockets was taken up with a wedge of Riyals……………………that said he was so crap he didn’t book Salisu for a clumsy challenge. But hey we all know the drill at Saints - frustration is always nearby waiting to jump out exclaiming “Taaa-daaaa”!
-
Do we know if Chelsea are supplementing his salary with us - if so does that become an embargoed transaction? (and a can of worms). Still if Tino steps himself up another couple of levels and everyone starts sniffing around, with the buy back clause I guessing he can't go anywhere (or just a different brand of canned worms).

Looks like my day out playing golf in the wind rain and mud - was far better than festering at home watching a dodgy stream too piss me off more than my golf. Ralph calling some of us out for questioning his selection for the cup game - here we are after a nice little run being served up the normal gruel we are use to. Hey-Ho
-
Probably because most of the more expensive players we have bought turned out to be a waste of money and a millstone round our necks.

It was Glasgow all along then

Trust me - we’ve got this 😇 COYRS

They do have a vegan Balti pie on the concourse……..guess that’s a start. 🤪

Probably meeting Mikey Dean in the usual lay-by to pick up the tapes as speak 🤪

Well that was fun - I didn’t quite catch the W Ham line up over the PA while on the concourse, our line up my initial thought was oh no Salisu - but hearing the firepower on the bench knowing we have 5 subs was a bit “oh okay - we have somewhere to go to if necessary. The opening few minutes there was a thought of this could just be one of those nights, where we get the crap game out of our system and move on as the link up play was nowhere as liquid as it has been in recent games: plus West Ham being no slouches were looking like wanting to get the tie done and dusted. We slowly just started to tick, Djenepo aside, then Perraud seem to think lets stop messing about and lit the blue touch-paper. Wow what strike - 2 absolute rockets in the space of a few days we are truly being spoilt. Seemed a popular scorer too in the stadium, away from a few numpties on these pages, sensible people see him for what he is - a damn good workhorse without any razzmatazz. From there on it looked pretty comfortable, good subs at half time, shame for Long as he did take some hits, mainly knees in the back that Marriner decided not to see, one blatant enough it was amazing the Lino wasn’t in his ear. In real time the penalty was more a case of Broja dithered waiting for the hit rather than firing it off, but fair play to him in getting right in the refs ear. As the clock ran down West Ham almost looked relieved that they had one possibly 2-3 games less games to play this season. Well done chaps Oh mention for Valery, what a conundrum the lad is, there are times where he looks like an accident waiting to happen, then games like last night where he looks very comfortable and un phased “been doing this for years” Cat songs over the PA at half time was quite amusing.

These last 2 games have been very weird to watch from my regular spot up in the Chapel, which affords me a good view of the whole pitch and game (depth perception might be hampered when the ball is down at the Northam). We just move the ball so nicely, and I think that’s been the key - moving the ball. Folk comment that Man City will pass you to death, we are not far behind, last night we were passing about effortlessly, on the flip side Norwich were scurrying about for much of the game like busy fools. We seem just so fluid. In the lockdown games when we were going well, Karen Carney said about us -“Southampton take you out into deep water and then drown you” from where I sit you can see we are trying to finesse that once more. When you think Gunns last game at St Mary’s was picking the ball out of the net far too many times, he seemed on a mission to exorcise that ghost on the first few shots he stopped, but when you look at the isolation of Puki up front for them, their defensive positioning, knowing we were going to shoot at will, was to only offer a gap that they knew Gunn should have covered. Defensive emphasis contributed little else to their game. Romeus goal was a thing of beauty, having been close to catching his shots up in my double letter row, as soon as he swung his leg you thought “Oh, hello!”. All good stuff long may it continue………….please 😀

More a case of quick thinking than anything, if he was wholly 2 footed he would be staking a claim for higher Saints greatness. Some of the goals he has scored for us though have defied comprehension. Digging one out from nothing at Chelsea and the deja vu brace against The Blades, same shot same result threading it through a nye on impossible gap. 😁he probably saw the half time line up included a ball juggler and thought “ beat this - I’m going score laying on the floor”😁

If you were to swap Kyiv for London and Russians were in Hounslow trying take Heathrow the Media would report that as them being in the Capital.
-
Not that the people whose house it is know, because they are out of the UK themselves 😲😉🤪😁
-
That was some game - every emotion at a footie game you could have - at 3-3 somewhere in the 80 something minute the whole stadium stood up to push the lads on, the noise was quite something - when that daisy cutter went in for 4-3 reports were the whole city knew we had scored from the huge cheer - the lady who we knew well sat in front of us, turned around tears pouring down her face and buried her head in my chest............ that is still probably the most intense game we've had at St Marys. As we all know it was to no avail.

If you watched on Sunday the Goal of the month went to pot on the website - so it was left to Dublin and Woodgate to decide - Dion went for Prowseys free kick- Woodgate went for Kovacic dipping volley. Chappers decided that Woodgates vote wins as it was his first guest appearance on MOTD -

Blimey just spotted that Pickford does indeed look like a T-Rex!!!😲
