  4. I agree with your sentiments about standing up and being counted, but following your anology through a little further, this little island would have been well and trully knackered if a rich american backer hadnt come in and provided the finance in the the form of lease lend,so maybe we still need a bit of help.
  5. I think this is just a reflection of what is happening in every industry now ,mine included. When I started in the construction industry ,more years ago than I would like to admit, the "site agent"(now known as a site manager)who was the main contractors representative on site, would always come from a trade background,i.e carpenter ,bricklayer ,plumber etc. Although there was some financial control by way of a quantity surveyor, these people would in no way tell the agent how to run the job.Nowadays a Q.S is by far and away the most powerful person in a building company as they control the purse strings and many members of senior management are drawn from their ranks.
  6. definitely option b for me

  8. okay I have been home for an hour or so now and have gathered my very soggy thoughts together. This was the first time I have watched Saints live since Cardiff last season and the improvement was very noticable. There was some slick interplay between the midfield and the spirit seemed to be there.Thompson is an excellent prospect and the other youngsters are going in the right direction. We completely dominated the first 15-20 minutes and it was in that time that we needed to score but slowly Cardiff worked there way back into the game ,and although they are not an overly physical team it was their strength and experience that gained them the upper hand. But as soon as they scored it seemed to spur the saints on and McGoldricks goal was well worked and well taken. The last 10 minutes of the second half I thought we were pushing on well and if a winner was to be scored it would have been ours, but a silly free kick resulted in Cardiffs winner and there was not enough time for an equliser. I think you lucky people on the south coast are going to be in for some very entertaining games at SMS this year.
  9. Gavin Rae(the cardiff midfielder) lives in one of the houses on the site where I am working in Cardiff, and I had quite a long chat to him today(he actually got me my ticket ). Before this chat I really thought the element of surprise and a bit of overconfidence from them would be enough to give us a victory. But he told me that Dave Jones has had people at our last couple of friendlies and has told his team that they are in for a real battle tomorrow because the football we are playing is extremely good. So although the fans seem to be overconfident there will no such ideas from the Cardiff players. With this in mind I think we will do well to get a point .maybe 1-1
  10. I will be there.First match since Cardiff last year, but this time I have got a ticket in the Saints fans .
