  1. If that was indeed the case, then although I don't think it is the right decision (in that I would have gambled on paying an appearance fee given the potential income of a replay - or victory) I could accept that. After all, the man in the hot seat makes these calls and will stand or fall by them. But if indeed that was the case, then let's be honest and not claim international clearance hasn't come through.
  2. Thought I'd put this up here for you fella.
  3. The Echo have a piece and are saying he collapsed and think he died of natural causes. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4019102.Police_seal_off_area_outside_St_Mary_s_after_man_dies/ RIP to the fella.
  4. Fair do's then. From where we were it just looked like he slid in, as attackers try to do when they're closing down the player, and just clipped him a bit late. I was surprised as there didn't seem to be any uproar from the Man Yoo players and also it was the first time in ages that our own players got animated and in the ref's face when the red card was shown. Probaby should be filed under the over exuberant as opposed to the reckless tackles file then???
  5. Agree 100%. Mirrors my sentiments entirely. For those in any position of power and influence to sit back and let this slide continue is close to negligence. Something needs to be done to snap us out of this downward spiral.
  6. You're the one making it in to a mountain by going in to drama queen mode and falsely claiming people were comparing him to Drogba. Many others have made a valid point that for such an important game we really should be looking to give ourselves the best possible chance by ensuring the manager has the best squad to pick from. I have no idea why you are bringing this back to Lowe. Lowe has not been mentioned in my posts on this matter and if anything I have been looking towards either incompetence on the secretarial side (hence my mention of Liz Coley) or the fact that the OS is being economical with the truth. You seem to be fighting those windmills again Mr Quixote. I very much doubt you would find one person who would not think that Saga would be an improvement over what we have had up front recently. Of course there are no gaurantees that he would hit the ground running, but he is certainly better than our current attacking options. As was proved once again today when we were totally lacklustre up front and actually lost one of our front players due to their naivety. So if he is to be playing next weekend against Barnsley, then maybe someone should have got their finger out and not deprived us of arguably our best player for this match. Now of course if he is not playing next Saturday and we are looking to ship him out again, then I would prefer it if the Club told the fans the honest position and not spin us the line that "we are waiting for clearance to come through". And of course the third option could well be that someone other than us has been dragging their heels (something I also asked n an earlier post, but obviously missed by you, then again you're not very good on details or facts). As for this match being a non entity, well a replay would have been worth upwards of half a million, something which appears lost on you. Once again, in a vain attempt to deflect the issue away from your weak argument, you engage in the drama queen mode and start making up things that were never there in the first place. Lowe has never been mentioned by me, nor do I think there is the biggest hidden agenda since watergate. Instead I, and others, merely suggested that someone had either made a mistake (inside or outside of SFC) or that someone was covering things up. By golly, I even put loads of ?????? at the end of many of my posts as I myself was not 100% aware of what was going on and wondered what others were thinking, or if others could shed some light on things. HTH PS You've glossed over the 75% bit again LOL
  7. Was it really that bad??? From over in the Itchen it looked fairly innocuous and didn't think much of it, particularly when the Man Yoo players didn't protest much. I was rather peeved that he looked to be getting a yellow!!!!!
  8. Something I said back in the summer. It's one thing getting exposure to first team football, and it's an entriely different thing to be dropping them in the deep end, playing too many games and relying on them to save the Club. As well as destroying the current crop of players I reckon it could actually make some parents and youngsters wary of coming to us and being exposed too quickly. Hope is not a strategy.
  9. And what was his opinion on what might happen if someone does come in for Andy?
  10. And Jan did??? I'm no massive fan of Holloway or Davies, but I can't help but think that there would be many out there who would be a better bet than Jan.
  11. So that's helpful then:rolleyes::rolleyes:
  12. You really do talk some rubbish. In the line up, I'd have you just behind Sundance and slightly ahead of SOG. You're making a rather enormous leap to go from suggesting we should be looking to play our best players to then claim I'm suggesting he is Drogbaesque. But then again, if it makes you happy, you keep making things up. After, it's not stopped ou in the past with the drivel you usually come out with. Once again, let's phone Drama Queens Are Us. I've never suggested it was Lowe's fault, nor did I view it as crime of the century. But as befire if you want to make things up then you just carry right on:confused: Remote?, a 1% improvement?, an outside chance?, of course it's all of them. But given the sums involved, given the situation we find ourselves in and given we never looked like scoring, I would have thought it would have been worth a shout having him in the squad. As was proved at the time, the CV put up on the OS was full of holes. Now if you want to believe it, or include it in your little world of made up stuff and make beilieve then that's entirely up to you. I don't think you have ever posted something with regards the financial side that has ever been correct, you showed yourself up with regards the 75% voting at an EGM (conveniently glossed over - again) and now your footballing opinions have been found wanting. Dinlo me up.
  13. Dear Mr 50% & 75% man:rolleyes:, Nothing in football is guaranteed, but very often the better the calibre of players you put out, the better the results they are likely to produce. We go in to the game as massive underdogs, without much of a chance, but at the same time we do have a chance. Given the weakness of our defence, I'm guessing we will need to score to earn a draw and given our lack of goals scored, I would have thought it would have made sense to have a talented striker like Saga somewhere in the squad. You carry on waffling away Mr dinlo, Regards Dumb Pahars (Feel free to regale us with your tales of the 75% voting process at EGM & AGM's:smt044:smt044)
  14. Spot on fella. I keep in touch with Tim as well and he never once mentioned arranging or helping to sort this out (then again it probably shouldn't come as a surprise because as I have said before Tim's warmth towards all things Saints knows no bounds). The problem is that there are too many wkkaners on here who are so quick to deride others.
  15. I wonder how Dailly (or any older head) fits in with Jan's belief that they're not on the same wavelength with the younger players:rolleyes:. Hope is not a strategy!
  16. It's things like the Give It To Ron appeal that show how much this Club means to people, the city and a wider community. Whatever happens over the next few years, we all need to make sure that that spirit, affection and pride is not lost. It's great to see fans rally round like this and remember past legends and I having wathched the Thriila in manilla last night, I can't help but compare it to the destitute state that Joe Frazier now sees out his last days.
  17. Lowe (and others) may have been guilty of some poor footballing decisions and they may also be differences of opinions over salaries, dividend & share buy back policies over the years, but IMHO that is a world of difference to some of the stuff you think may have gone on. Lowe (and others) may be guilty of many things, but fraud, siphoning off funds, misuse of funds for personal gain (in the criminal sense) is definitely not one of them. Tree wrong up you're the barking.
  18. I will get you one. PM me with your address details.
  19. Just had a look in ITN and in that 83/84 when we came second by 3 points and we never topped the table at any point that season (it also reminded me of playing a weak team away at Everton just before the semi, losing at home to relegated Notts County - what might have been). It was the 81/82 season when we topped the table from January through to March. Problem is that there were so many successful periods around that time that they all seem to blur in to one!!!!!!! Something obviously lost on the "big hand" waving post Euro 96 fans
  20. Felt exactly the same, but like you woke up this morning, thought of some pints with mates beforehand and am pleasantly surprised that I'm now quite looking forward to the match. A temporary respite from the shiyt we are in.
  21. I think we held the top spot longer than anyone that season, before being overhauled by Liverpool. A few months back, posts like these from Sundance would have irked me slightly and I would have felt the need to reply. Now I just read them laugh at the hypocrisy & rubbish being spouted, and reflect that in Sundance you start to see a big chunk of Lowe And in reminding me (and others) of just how Lowe thinks and acts, SB does more to remind me of why Lowe should stand aside than almost anything else on this forum. Keep on posting Sundance (and as before if the mods will let me, I'm still happy to pay is 5 quid).
  22. ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Euro 96 me up. I gave SadOldGit a bit of a roasting earlier, but sadly you've even surpassed his dopey posts. Just like Scooby, you're actually turning in to one of the best adverts for removing Lowe as in you we saw all of Lowe's worst traits.
  23. A one off cup game where a draw could bring in somewhere between half and one million pounds. Even with your dodgy view on finances, I would have thought that might be worth giving it our best shot (in fact if we're one up with a 30 seconds to go, I might even advocate an OG).
  24. The problem is that I and many others fear for the decision making of the current set up. And as for getting worse, well quite frankly I reckon you would find it very hard to get much worse than what we are currently lumbered with. I have to say that I think you and many others are rather insulting when you continue to class all those who are against Lowe as being rabid, not well reasoned, not knowing what they want etc etc etc. I think you'll find that a good many fans out there have a very good idea of what is right and what is wrong, and although they may all be armchair managers/chairmen, I think it is obvious to the vast majority that as we stand, things just aren't working. And it's not up to the supporters to be headhunting replacements or to be told that they must have a replacement lined up before their opinion is deemed valid enough to be heard. Firstly, as I pointed out, there are occasions where you have to go and seek out talent, and secondly it's not our job to go and seek out that talent. And as I said to Buctootim, I accept it won't be easy and that it might be fraught with egos and battles, but I fear we have no choice than to ask the major shareholders from all sides to sit down and sort out a replacement for both Lowe and Jan. Perhaps someone independent to all the groups could play some sort of a mediating role (Salz???). Saying it's too difficult as we slide in to the third division is just defeatist IMHO. I would much rather people said we need to give the current regime time, as at least that strategy has some balls about it (even if I personally think it's madness). Just saying it would be too difficult is being defeatist. Lowe may be oblivious, thick skinned and obstinate but I think other shareholders and perhaps more importantly major players, such as creditors or the bank, may sit up and take notice if money falls from the top line due to fans protests.
  25. In the first instance I would be asking for the majority shareholders to try and secure a more competent and unifying CEO (and PLC Chairman). I would not be averse to someone from within the existing ranks taking on either of these roles, but only an interim basis (e.g. Cowen or Richards respectively), until a suitable appointment is found, but the search for suitable replacements must be swift and honest. On the managerial front I would replace Jan ASAP with a more experienced manager. If it could work for all parties, then I would not be averse to keeping him on in a coaching capacity. As with both of these appointments sometimes you can have a replacement lined up and sometimes you have to go and search for one. To say change should (or could not) happen unless people are lined up for these roles is just nonsense (particularly when you consider you often have to look for a replacement when someone has resigned or been poached against your wishes). Neither are a gaurantee of success as we had Strachan, Poortvliet and Wigley lined up, whereas we went out and searched for Nicholl, Pearson and Sturrock. The same applies for CEO's (have a look at Trevor Birch's employment history to see sometimes he was lined up for new jobs, whilst other times people trawled the available talent before appointing him. Of course when CEO's resign - as Birch has done - clubs have no choice but to trawl the available talent).
