Dear Mr 50% & 75% man:rolleyes:, Nothing in football is guaranteed, but very often the better the calibre of players you put out, the better the results they are likely to produce. We go in to the game as massive underdogs, without much of a chance, but at the same time we do have a chance. Given the weakness of our defence, I'm guessing we will need to score to earn a draw and given our lack of goals scored, I would have thought it would have made sense to have a talented striker like Saga somewhere in the squad. You carry on waffling away Mr dinlo, Regards Dumb Pahars (Feel free to regale us with your tales of the 75% voting process at EGM & AGM's:smt044:smt044)

Spot on fella. I keep in touch with Tim as well and he never once mentioned arranging or helping to sort this out (then again it probably shouldn't come as a surprise because as I have said before Tim's warmth towards all things Saints knows no bounds). The problem is that there are too many wkkaners on here who are so quick to deride others.

I wonder how Dailly (or any older head) fits in with Jan's belief that they're not on the same wavelength with the younger players:rolleyes:. Hope is not a strategy!

It's things like the Give It To Ron appeal that show how much this Club means to people, the city and a wider community. Whatever happens over the next few years, we all need to make sure that that spirit, affection and pride is not lost. It's great to see fans rally round like this and remember past legends and I having wathched the Thriila in manilla last night, I can't help but compare it to the destitute state that Joe Frazier now sees out his last days.

Was Rupert Lowe set up by the remaining Shareholders?
um pahars replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
Lowe (and others) may have been guilty of some poor footballing decisions and they may also be differences of opinions over salaries, dividend & share buy back policies over the years, but IMHO that is a world of difference to some of the stuff you think may have gone on. Lowe (and others) may be guilty of many things, but fraud, siphoning off funds, misuse of funds for personal gain (in the criminal sense) is definitely not one of them. Tree wrong up you're the barking. -
I will get you one. PM me with your address details.

Just had a look in ITN and in that 83/84 when we came second by 3 points and we never topped the table at any point that season (it also reminded me of playing a weak team away at Everton just before the semi, losing at home to relegated Notts County - what might have been). It was the 81/82 season when we topped the table from January through to March. Problem is that there were so many successful periods around that time that they all seem to blur in to one!!!!!!! Something obviously lost on the "big hand" waving post Euro 96 fans

Felt exactly the same, but like you woke up this morning, thought of some pints with mates beforehand and am pleasantly surprised that I'm now quite looking forward to the match. A temporary respite from the shiyt we are in.

I think we held the top spot longer than anyone that season, before being overhauled by Liverpool. A few months back, posts like these from Sundance would have irked me slightly and I would have felt the need to reply. Now I just read them laugh at the hypocrisy & rubbish being spouted, and reflect that in Sundance you start to see a big chunk of Lowe And in reminding me (and others) of just how Lowe thinks and acts, SB does more to remind me of why Lowe should stand aside than almost anything else on this forum. Keep on posting Sundance (and as before if the mods will let me, I'm still happy to pay is 5 quid).

ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Euro 96 me up. I gave SadOldGit a bit of a roasting earlier, but sadly you've even surpassed his dopey posts. Just like Scooby, you're actually turning in to one of the best adverts for removing Lowe as in you we saw all of Lowe's worst traits.

A one off cup game where a draw could bring in somewhere between half and one million pounds. Even with your dodgy view on finances, I would have thought that might be worth giving it our best shot (in fact if we're one up with a 30 seconds to go, I might even advocate an OG).

Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board
um pahars replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
The problem is that I and many others fear for the decision making of the current set up. And as for getting worse, well quite frankly I reckon you would find it very hard to get much worse than what we are currently lumbered with. I have to say that I think you and many others are rather insulting when you continue to class all those who are against Lowe as being rabid, not well reasoned, not knowing what they want etc etc etc. I think you'll find that a good many fans out there have a very good idea of what is right and what is wrong, and although they may all be armchair managers/chairmen, I think it is obvious to the vast majority that as we stand, things just aren't working. And it's not up to the supporters to be headhunting replacements or to be told that they must have a replacement lined up before their opinion is deemed valid enough to be heard. Firstly, as I pointed out, there are occasions where you have to go and seek out talent, and secondly it's not our job to go and seek out that talent. And as I said to Buctootim, I accept it won't be easy and that it might be fraught with egos and battles, but I fear we have no choice than to ask the major shareholders from all sides to sit down and sort out a replacement for both Lowe and Jan. Perhaps someone independent to all the groups could play some sort of a mediating role (Salz???). Saying it's too difficult as we slide in to the third division is just defeatist IMHO. I would much rather people said we need to give the current regime time, as at least that strategy has some balls about it (even if I personally think it's madness). Just saying it would be too difficult is being defeatist. Lowe may be oblivious, thick skinned and obstinate but I think other shareholders and perhaps more importantly major players, such as creditors or the bank, may sit up and take notice if money falls from the top line due to fans protests. -

In the first instance I would be asking for the majority shareholders to try and secure a more competent and unifying CEO (and PLC Chairman). I would not be averse to someone from within the existing ranks taking on either of these roles, but only an interim basis (e.g. Cowen or Richards respectively), until a suitable appointment is found, but the search for suitable replacements must be swift and honest. On the managerial front I would replace Jan ASAP with a more experienced manager. If it could work for all parties, then I would not be averse to keeping him on in a coaching capacity. As with both of these appointments sometimes you can have a replacement lined up and sometimes you have to go and search for one. To say change should (or could not) happen unless people are lined up for these roles is just nonsense (particularly when you consider you often have to look for a replacement when someone has resigned or been poached against your wishes). Neither are a gaurantee of success as we had Strachan, Poortvliet and Wigley lined up, whereas we went out and searched for Nicholl, Pearson and Sturrock. The same applies for CEO's (have a look at Trevor Birch's employment history to see sometimes he was lined up for new jobs, whilst other times people trawled the available talent before appointing him. Of course when CEO's resign - as Birch has done - clubs have no choice but to trawl the available talent). -
Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board

As we stand here today, do you support Jan staying or going? (Only asking the question again, because I dont think you've answered it. Certainly just by saying you would if there was someone who was better is not answering it, as how would you be able to judge whether or not they would be better, it's totally hypothetical?) -

Perhaps I didn't phrase my question right. How about, as we stand today would you like to see Jan step aside? -

OK, let's start with a simple question for you. Do you still support the appointment of Jan? -
I'm not saying it will be easy and arguably we got turkeys in situ after the summers farce, but I don't see sitting back and just accepting our fate as an acceptable alternative. Wilde, Richards, Crouch and others need to bite the bullet and agree to get something done. Sticking with Jan and maintaining Lowe in such a position of power is increasingly looking like a recipe for disaster. It will need some humbling of egos, some compromise and a dash of hope, but I fail to believe that this position is irreversible.
-
You don't need to be taken over to change a manager and/or a CEO. Many clubs (even ourselves) have done it recently. But of course what it needs is an acceptance from some within Lowe's cabal and from Wilde that this experiment is failing.

um pahars replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
IMHO Wilde's role as Chairman of the Football Club Board is purely a ceremonial/ambassadorial position with little or no power (in the short term anyway). With Lowe having two close allies on the PLC board, the PLC Chairmanship and the day to day job as CEO, for me there can be no coubt that he's running the show. I have heard that a couple of Lowe's group are having second thoughts about this arrangement and would be interested to hear Wilde's current views (his honest ones as opposed to the platitudes in the matchday programme). -
How about a competent manager and a competent, respected and unifying CEO. That doesn't sound like rocket science to me.

Nice riposte, now try and stay on topic or try not to gloss over Lowe's role in our demise. -

the thread title makes no mention of the part Lowe played in our demise, only whether he is being set up for a fall some time in the future. It was your post that glossed over Lowe's role in our demise, laying the blame at others. -

Up to you, although I would have thought blaming Crouch and Wilde for "practically bankruoting the Club" and yet not mentioning any part Lowe played is somewhat rewriting/distorting history. -
Matt was also pretty unequivocal in that he wanted the majority shareholders gone as well. Also made the point how no one has been prepared to accept their part in the downfall of the Club, but instead want to blame others all the time.
