What has been frustrating the regulars is that IMHO we have not been performing as well as our individual and collective abilities should be. Maybe we just have high expectations of a team that has much talent within it (relatively speaking of course). We've ground out results and stayed in the hunt, but for a couple of months now we haven't hit full power. Hopefully it will be a good thing and we find our best form in the run in. But reading your post I haven't really seen that massive a change in the style of play. Yes, it seems as though we are keen to pass the ball and get it forward to our creative players, but we've also been happy to attack quickly, hit it long and mix it up etc. It's nowhere near the sea change that Brighton have adopted. When they played us it was as though their keeper was on a warning of death if he kicked the ball and anyone who lost possession would be transfer listed. The style has not seen a huge change and IMHO it is not the style that is frustrating some punters, instead it is the application of it. I think you maty be exaggerating somewhat there! It wasn't 90 mins of champagne football, but neither was it garbage. There were periods (particularly at the start) where our set up was wrong (particularly in the midfield) and we didn't keep possession well, but I certainly didn't get any feeling leaving the ground (certainly no boos!!) that people were that upset about our performance/result.

Ditto!!!!! Great news seeing two draws (the Posh one being more important). Fingers crossed for a Huddersfield slip up as well on Sunday.

You make it sound as though he just built a team of old seasoned pros with no eye on the future. You seem to be forgetting the role played by Ole Soapy Massage Man, Bob Higgins in bringing youngsters through to the first team and the great mixture of youth and experience that many of McMenemy's teams included. In his last season the following were playing - Dennis 24, Townsend 22, Whitlock 24, Wright 22, Agboola 23, Lawrence 23, Moran 24, Wallace 21. Other stalwarts such as Case and Shilton were also around for a while after he left as well. Others for the future who were on our books/linked up with us when he left included two Wallaces and a Le Tiss amongst others. During his time with us he certainly brought in experienced pros (and got a second wind out of many) and played them alongside numerous youngsters and he certainly left us with a decent amount of younger players.

That will be the game where there were about 800 in the away end (700 with familiar Southampton faces!!!!).

The way McMenemy recounts the story was that Wright was thrown in to the Cassell's deal!!!!! My claim to fame around that time was wiping the sweat off Cassell's balding head as he walked off at Brentford away. The dressing rooms were Portakabins and the players had to walk through the terrace behind the goal to get to them. And he definitely scored in the 5-5 draw with Coventry that evening with one of them being a long range effort. That was the game where Wallace came off the pitch thinking we had lost. I'm not going to comment on the Everton game and /or the Steve Williams decision as that day still haunts me to this day (for a number of reasons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Deary me, what a fashion faux pas, almost on a par with the four-in-hand tie knot.

Ah... the EDL. Everyone's favourite cheeky scamps.

Delete the original PDQ, cos that second one is fantastic. Muslamic Ray Guns!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Once again I have to disagree with you. I personally found his choice of neck apparel to be extremely wanting, often wearing the "Club" tie invariably worn four-in-hand. Not impressed. Additionally, his choice of slacks and most definitely shoes were most definitely below par. On the suit front, the odd time he wore his double breasted ones made him look somewhat rotund, whilst his jackets often displayed a very poor cut to them.

Chin up fella and remember the many great times (Watford away excluded) you must have shared together. Always sad to lose someone close to you, so my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

A "Liebherr" in the form of Matthew Harding was hovering around us just before the Reverse takeover, so who knows what might have been????
-
I remember at the Dave Jones trial he stated under oath that he was a West Ham fan, but used to also go and watch Ipswich with a "boxer" friend.
-
I would have to concur with your thoughts. See no problem with him popping along to watch us, after all we now be his first team if he has dropped his allegiance to West Ham.

Got a Mediterranean Cruise on the new Queen Elizabeth coming up at the beginning of August as well as a week in Lithuania early July. Still looking for somewhere to go at the back end of August for a couple of weeks (thinking of something out of the ordinary, long train journey, road trip across an expanse etc) and thinking of Oz or NZ for Christmas.

That's not Claus, that's Simon the Leeds fan.

I wouldn't be too downhearted if we got a fighting draw. -
LOL. I just have a real problem with the way MK Dons came about and how they shafted a very good number of Wimbledon fans (that said the real Wimbledon are doing a grand job of bouncing back). Having lived in Merton for a bit and having a few good fans as mates meant it was always going to be difficult to be supporting them tonight. Managed it, but now I need a shower!!!!!!!!
-
Thank you very much indeed MK Dons. How sooper dooper of you. Now feck off back in to the world of insignificance you franchise team stealing shysters!!!!! Just got in and tentatively tapped away at the buttons to get the result. Looked with one eye and gave out a rather excited YES when I saw the score. A couple of scores have gone for us, now we need to capitalise on others mistakes. Could be a big week!!!!!

Draw Win Win Will be happy with 7 from those three games, 9 would be brilliant. 6 might be OK if Posh slip up along the road. 5 would be worrying. 4 or less catastrophe!!!!
-
Soemone else mentioned the diamond not working and it was something that certainly struck me, in that our set up at the start was not quite right.
-
Methinks you are somewhat confusing the tribal and passionate chants of football supporters towards their team (however illogical they may seem at times to others), with the nonsencical and somewhat cringetastic chants about an employee (including a slightly noddytastic dig at our near neighbours).
-
Saturday Cricket has started by then, so I want it wrapped up well before then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I am now!!!! Thanks for being the party pooper!!!! LOL Only one win against 9 of those teams is a very good spot, but as others have pointed out a few of them were in our worst period of the season (plus it gives us a chance to avenge those slip ups).
-
Cringetastic!!!! Met with much guffaws from around where we sit when it was attempted yesterday. You weren't the group in the beer garden of the barge In Peterborough trying to get it going were you?????
-
Classic diversionary behaviour. You worry about your own actions as opposed to trying to justify them by comparing them to the actions of others. You're being asked to sit down to comply with ground regulations. The stewards are merely doing their jobs, enforcing the ground regulations and following orders from above. FYI there was an assessor form the licensing authorities there yesterday keeping them on their toes as well.
